This was a family dinner for my wife’s birthday. It was a fantastic meal on every level! Stevie was attentive, but not in the way. We (8 of us) discussed each persons meal and there were no complaints! My daughter in law wasn’t crazy about the curry on her chicken sandwich, but she did not complain. Thank you for a pleasant evening! We will be back!
The food is excellent. Everything we had was superb. We had a new waitress so service was not as good as expected but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. The interior is somewhat boring. Very contemporary but not lively or inviting. As such low marks for ambiance. But we didn't go there for "looking at the walls and furniture" and as mentioned thefood was delicious.
It was great to have a server that was actually fro. South Africa. She was able to suggest items to try th jat we wouldnt have thought of. It made the experience even better!
Service was great. Some food was great and some was mediocre.
The food was fabulous! This is our second time dining here and we will definitely be back.
This was my second time to the restaurant, but this time with my wife and as before the food was fantastic and the service was likewise great. The manager stopped by our table to check on us and was very engaging and made us feel very welcome. The only comment was that the restaurant seems to be in transition between owners and the wine list was very vague and we were told that there really weren't many choices. While not a big deal for us, it may be for others. We will definitely be back and really enjoy this place.
Very good food, but a bit pricey. Good for special occasions.
Todo estuvo muy bien así que volveríamos a ir
Celebrating retirement! It was wonderful❤️❤️❤️
We went for Houston Restaurant Week and the menu selection was incredible. The food had flavor and was appealing to the eye.
Had the HRW special, no so special. The ribeye was so thin it wasn’t was completely over cooked. This is my first not so good meal.
We had been loyal Peli Peli fans for many years before we moved out of the area. Sad to say the new casual concept leaves something to be desired. The food was ok, but just ok - missing the depth and complexity of flavors we had become accustomed to over the years. Overall, the experience was not bad, but it was definitely lackluster compared to our previous experiences.
Steaks not cooked to correct temperature. One went back twice.
Didn't know what to expect, but found the menu unique. Food was well prepared, presented and very tasty. Service was excellent. After reviewing the menu, looking forward to visiting again soon.
The food and service were outstanding. We highly recommend the bobotie, it is amazing. The only thing we didn’t like was the seating, not ver comfortable.
Great food! An explosion of flavors!
The Beef Bobotie is amazing!
First time eating here. We went because of restaurant weeks and the food was outstanding! We were in no rush, but it took a REALLY long time for our first course to arrive. It would have been fine if it was just the kitchen being backed up. But three tables that were seated after us got their food well before us. Once we got the first course, remaining courses came in a timely manner. It was lunch and there were only about six tables seated at the time and only three when we arrived. The servers were friendly, competent and I felt well taken care of...except no one even acknowledged and I felt forgotten for that probably 20 minutes of nothing.
We went there for our first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday and from the minute we walked in we were greeted and I knew the night would go well. Our server was Mike and he was fantastic and so attentive. The food was so flavorful and a few of us had the Restaurant Week menu and the portions were large. Everything we tasted was amazing. We will definitely go back! Also received a nice surprise for the birthday guy! They know how to treat people as guests and we felt very safe with their Covid safety also.
Great food as always. If you have never had it, you must try the Bobotie.
This is the second time we went to Peli Peli in a month. The food was delicious and we love the way they painted the interior.
Terrific appetizers, entrees, drinks, and service!
This is not the same place Chief Paul started. Everything is less quality since it changed ownership. I will not be going back.
Appreciate your passion for Peli Peli and our 11 years of hospitality Mark! Evolution is necessary in a hyper-competitive market and we are proud of our improvements to the menu including fresher ingredients, greater value in pricepoint, more authentic South African dishes and our ability to maintain our status as one of the best-reviewed restaurants in Houston is evidence we are headed in the right direction. Your issue could be an execution one. Please do allow us to make it right with you.
Jackie was an outstanding waiter. I would definitely recommend this restaurant because of her. Customer service to me goes hand-in-hand with the food; You’re able to enjoy the food better.
Great food and service! Probably one of the best meals I have had in a really long time.
From the service to the food, everything was great! Even got a free dessert for my birthday! We will be back soon!
The food was wonderful and fresh. Loved every bit of it!
Food was great, gluten free selection was good
Peli Peli- Galleria has been our go-to for years. We were very excited to try out one close to home. The ambiance and slow service was such a let down.
The Galleria and Vintage location has beautiful lighting and great decor and The Woodlands location lacks all the charm those restaurants have but with the same price tag. Design changes are minimal since it was Bonefish or Mi Cocina.
It took 20+ minutes for each round of drinks (simple cocktails) and food took so long to come out we forgot what we ordered. It definitely wasn’t the Saturday night birthday experience we expected.
Dimming the intense LED lighting in the evening would be a start to making it a smidge less uncomfortable. Also, the manager kept going to tables and delivering shots and yelling something at the top of his lungs. It was funny the first time but aggressive after hearing it 3/4 times. Even the staff looked uncomfortable when this happened.
Won’t return to this location but still a fan of the others.
I was disappointed in our overall dining experience and probably would not return. We drove all the way to the Woodlands from Katy as the Katy location has been closed and it was one of our favorite dining spots. The atmosphere was underwhelming and my food came out barely warm. The manager did allow me to get something else but even that dish was just average. The quality of the steak was not up to par. To top it off my husband visited the men's room until to find it under water from the toilet being clogged. It was definitely an unpleasant experience and not sure the manager had a sense of urgency. We will wait until the Cinco Ranch reopens.
Food was good just needed a little salt. Other than that the staff was friendly fast and knowledgeable.
If social distancing is your concern -tables are appropriately spaced. Food is spot on as I’ve come to expect. 1st time at woodlands location as vintage location was our usual. Loves me some peli!
Service: the waitress was kind, nice, helpful, attentive however, forgot to bring napkins with the cutlery, it took to much time to bring a cocktail and the food.
Food: Soup delicious but not even warm. Espetada: beef OK, sauces OK, fries (side) greasy. Mac & cheese OK.
Dessert: not crunchy felt like re-fried, not good (chocolate lekker tart)
Overall: my experience with this restaurant, being the first time, was an over promised of what I've read and heard about it many months ago.
I'm willing to try different location and compare, believing that the issues might be related tom how the franchise is managed.
I write with this with the problems caused by the Chinese virus as contributing to much uncertainty in operation. Seated with reservations 20 minutes late. Appetizer took 35 minutes to get. We decided to have mains and desserts to go. With regard to the friendliness of the staff and the taste of the food- The food taste and prep was excellent and wait staff very nice. Will definitely return.
Excellent food. Above my expectations!
When you think of South African food, expectations are set. Bold, Flavorful, Spice, we didn’t get any of that. It was unfortunate since I took my wife to celebrate our anniversary. She is a chef and immediately enjoyed the apps( we had the fritters, the mains and desserts were left unseasoned and disappointing. As a chef, her dissatisfaction was apparent and we decided to eat at a local breakfast spot after since we didn’t really get to eat the rest of our food. Service was good but the wait staff didn’t have the guest WiFi password so we could reach our family to say hi via FaceTime. This was a moment we looked forward to for months and fell extremely flat.
Food was amazing and the service was also great. The drinks are tasty. I will definitely be going back
Steak sandwich was dry. Bar offered only one chardonnay and bar tender couldn’t tell me anything about it. Interior decor disappointing. Just not what I had experienced at Pelé Pelé in Vintage Park location.
Excellent food and service!
