I wanted a nice quiet birthday dinner with my hubby but when I got there it was extremely loud and I didn’t like the seating it was too crowded and uncomfortable even when I asked them to bring a cake dish out for my birthday when I reserved the table they didn’t follow through. To top it off, I ended up leaving my goodie bag of left over estepada I think that’s how it’s spelled. 😕food was great 👍🏽
Good food. Good atmosphere. I'd recommend this restaurant for both casual and special occasions.
Food was delicious, service was outstanding. Great experience.
We are regulars of Peli Peli . The food is always great. Last time we were there was last Saturday. Our waiter Israel was great and very helpful. My only question was why were we taxed for the free gift cards we used. I would understand taxing the paid Gift cards we bought. The free gift cards are like coupons and are not to be taxed. We always purchased this kind of promotion, like buy $100 get $25 free gift cards at Pappas Restaurant. They don't tax the $25 free gift cards if you use it. Only the $100 paid gift cards. thanks
Excellent food, taste and presentation. Our server was very attentive, informative and efficient. We had a farewell luncheon for a coworker. I would highly recommend.
Delightful dinner with many South African flavors. Beautiful decor yo match the food. Roman was our waiter and he was excellent!
Food was amazing, but the service was terrible the servers were all rude. The only people who were respectful were the greeters in the front, I would take my money elsewhere
Great atmosphere and great food. Our waiter was Jasmine. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.
Went here for dinner with the family. Food was good and a change from the regular all around taste from other restaurants. Service was quick but not perfect. Ceiling lights wasn’t pleasant. Overall, a good experience and a change of taste.
Went there for Mother’s Day. The noise level of the screaming kids was unbearable. The menu was limited. It would’ve been nice to have complimentary “mom”osas. I did not enjoy myself.
Mother’s Day brunch with the family was great. My reservation was honored and the table was ready. Our waiter Nico was great and everyone truly enjoyed the food. I’ll be back.
Mother’s Day brunch!!!
The taste of the food was just nothing. I only took a bite of my food and was just tasteless. Note to people, do not go on special days like mother's day. Everything will be mediocre.
Not sure what the hype was so we decided to try it on mother’s day for brunch. It was obviously a busy day. We waited for our food for about an hour. Wait staff was good. Kitchen was not prepared for a busy day. Order brunch food during brunch time. Lesson learned.
Decided to take my wife for Sunday brunch for her birthday and the food and service well exceeded my expectations.
We reserved a table three days in advance and when we arrived they were not ready. The receptionists were rude, untrained, and they assigned us a beer table in the bar, just beside all sport TVs....
The menu is presumptive, with exaggerate prices, and the South Africa food is none to see. Don’t go there, it’s a waste of money and time!
I already have recommended Peli Peli to friends after our first visit!
When we first arrived, the head bar tender, Leo, saw us first and started helping us! And BOY was he a help! Great to talk with, very informative, and helpful at getting our table going! But, then our waitress, Uss, was FABULOUS! I friended her on Facebook, haha! The food was fabulous! We are nearly impossible to please with eating out. We barely like to eat out, but it was our 18th Anniversary and we didn't want to go to the usual spots. Here's the part of what we had that we did not like: King Fish in the seafood skewer dish (forget the name- Espatada??). Just not a yummy fish. I would like an all shrimp and scallop skewer. But, we'll still get it again with that fish if needed, because it was awesome!! And, I didn't enjoy the two desserts I tried. If you're sensitive to sweetness, the sticky toffee pudding will be too much. But then the pudding in the tart w/ whipped cream was almost flavorless and had a WALL of a flavorless graham cracker crust. Add more brown sugar in it, for cying out loud! What we LOVED are the brussel sprouts. Even if you hate coconut or brussel sprouts, adding those magical African spices in them makes them about my favorite food in Houston, now! All the veggies were awesome! The waffles were just heavenly! I did not like the schnitzle! I was thinking: sausage. It was chicken fried chicken that was a little too think in the middle for me, and the breading, again, was flavorless! : / But, it was okay! Overall, it was still the best dining experience we've had in Houston. We'll be back!
Great surprise... Be careful about the spice. Park the car in the yellow garage!
Great food and waiter explained menu well.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and had a wonderful time at Peli Peli. It was our first dining experience there, which we were well pleased with the service, meal and atmosphere. We look forward to going again soon.
LOVE this restaurant! We ordered the wings, kingklip and filet mignon. SO delicious. The service was EXCELLENT and the space is gorgeous!
As always, we had a GREAT time!!! This visit was with 2 friends who were new to the experience, but enjoyed themselves and look forward to returning! The servers were ALL fantastic, from Drake and Calvin to Ron and Leo at the bar. 😊 These guys helped set what was a simple brunch among friends, to an afternoon of laughter and good times! Thanks again, until next time....
Wonderful flavors for such African inspired dishes. Truly culture on a plate. The seafood cakes with Kingklip were delish, as well as the prawn skillet ... just the right amount of heat on the back. Highly recommend! I was nervous choosing a mall restaurant (so against my beliefs for foodie local but exceeded my expectations greatly!
Our server was excellent. She was attentive, pleasant to talk with and efficient.
Lighting was off - too dim, hard to see, slightly uncomfortable on the eyes. Waitress was great. I've been to the Vintage location several times - Galleria location just lacks the energy and excitement (perhaps only when owner is absent?) Food was good as usual, but rice was a bit cold. Would recommend visiting the Vintage location over the Galleria location.
Interesting menu and nice environment. Service was excellent on both visits my colleague and I have made thus far. The Business Lunch special was a good value.
Great experience all around. 4 guests and everyone loved their dish and sampler app. Thank You!
Great food! Great service! Great value! Great promo on free gift card with purchase!
Our anniversary dinner was fabulous. The food was flavorful, yet not too spicy. We had the appetizer sampler, the chicken espetada (keba) and the lamb osso buco. They were sweet to bring us glasses of champagne. We really loved the South African Sampler - An Assortment of South African Appetizers: Boerewors • Biltong Chicken Sosaties • Bobotie • Stuffed Peppadews.
Nice dining experience with good quality of food items and excellent service. It would be better to have a few more wine offerings on the menu.
It was amazing as usual
I lunch date with my husband. The food is fantastic! We both ran in the Vintage Park half marathon relay and Peli Peli was a sponsor, so we both got complimentary desserts! Yummy!
Delicious food, great service. Matthew has been fortunate to be our waiter twice and definitely loves what he does.
Went for brunch! Had the vegetarian Bobotie, amazing per usual! I wanted something breakfast so I tried the sticky toffee pancakes. Very good, on the sweet side but not too much. Large shareable portion. My girlfriend had the French toast I thought it was just ok. Matthew was a really good server!
We had a large party with separate checks. The food was excellent, ambiance was great, waiter was knowledgeable but took a while to get our checks (44 minutes)
This was our 4th time to visit this restaurant. As always to food, service, and ambiance were outstanding. I had the sirloin steak which comes with sauteed spinach and roasted potatoes. It was delicious, especially when paired with the garlic herb butter. My wife enjoyed the chicken brochette I think its called. It is a mildly spicy grilled chicken pieces served on a vertically hanging skewer. She really enjoyed it as well. Our friend had one of the vegetarian dishes, I don't remember which one, but he definitely was very pleased with the flavor and preparation. We started out with the flatbread appetizer which was paired with delightful mild pepper relish. We don't go there often but when we do we are always pleased that we did.
Little hard to hear server, kept looking away. Otherwise great restaurant
Made a reservation here to come try the 20oz Ribeye as it was rated the top steakhouse in Houston. We arrived and were seated right away and the place was rather empty. Sat down, got our waters and ordered an appetizer to then be told by the waiter when ordering our meal that they had NO STEAKS! Yep no steaks on a Saturday night. Ended up leaving and going to Taste of Texas and it was the best decision I made and I will leave it at that.
