Peel Wood Fired Pizza - Clayton
Enjoyed the wonderful brunch with bottomless mimosas and good friends
The food was tasty. But the underside of the crust of the wood fired pizza was very soggy. We complained and they were very gracious about it and made us another one. Unfortunately, the second pizza came with the same result. They were very busy and one of the workers told us that might be why the pizza crust was so soggy. That’s no excuse in my opinion. Wood fired pizza should have a crispy underside. Busy is probably why it also took more than 15 minutes to get a cup of soup. The drinks came fast though and were good pours.
The wood fire pizza is delicious and the reason to eat here. The full salads are huge and good but could use some more dressing and pepper on the table. The chicken wings are also very good but the hottest are not very hot. The ambience is very chic and modern but the windows needed blinds to block the late afternoon sun that was blinding our table. The server was excellent but had lots of tables.
Will was great! Attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. And so was the supporting staff when he was busy. Really enjoyed ourselves.
Girlfriends birthday! We all had a great time!
Service was good at first, but as the evening went on our waiter all but disappeared. In the end, it took 20 minutes just to get a check, then another 10 minutes for someone to come retrieve payment. The food was good, except for desert, S’mores Pizza, which was terrible. Upon leaving, the valet almost hit me as he pulled out without looking.
It was fun atmosphere with great food! We had a great time celebrating my son's birthday!
Atmosphere, service, and beer were really good. We ordered Fire wings, Ricotta pizza, jerk chicken pizza, and Mexican hot chocolate cheesecake. The crust on the pizza was excellent, but the jerk pizza, Fire wings, and Mexican hot chocolate cheesecake had no spice at all. Pairing basil with the wings and mango with jerk chicken was great, but would have been much better with a spicy burn. I would go back to try other dishes that are not supposed to be spicy. Expect typical Midwestern bland food if you order a dish that would normally have some spice.
The wait for the Edwardsville location was 45 minutes, but we were able to make a reservation for our arrival time in Clayton and be closer to home. The space is large and attractive. We’ll be back.
Delicious food and excellent staff.
We love Peel. We have been to all 3 and its one of our absolute favorite places. The food is amazing, I have never had anything that isn't fabulous. Great service
Everything on the menu looked great. Fantastic choices.
We've been here many times and it's hard to order something new because we like what we usually get. Our friends followed suit -- salads (a half salad is big enough to split) and a variety of wings. The beignets were a nice finish -- one order for the 4 of us.
Upon arrival we were greeted by hosts and shown our table so we could get in on the happy hour pricing before it expired. Appreciated that very much. We had good service thought our meal. Our meal was as we expected and we enjoy our selections tuna tacos, mussels, salmon flatbread, and house wines by the glass. We ordered a shared desert of cheesecake and upon receiving it we were told it was complimentary because it had taken longer than expected to receive. This was much appreciated.
We really liked it there. Their large salad is enough for a family of four!
I took my parents to Peel for Sunday Brunch on the recommendation of a friend. We beat the rush and got there at 10:30 so it was nice and quiet. The service was amazing! Our waiter was Chris. He was helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive! The food was wonderful and very plentiful. Having not been there before we all ordered a breakfast item from the A La Carte and added two buffets. We left with three to go boxes of food. The atmosphere was wonderful. We sat on the brew side (with the low tables.) It had a great family atmosphere and was able to accommodate two large parties in the same area without the noise becoming too loud or it feeling too crowded. The bar area is a good size and was picking up in traffic when we left. I would definitely go back for happy hour or dinner!
We had a party of 7 and everyone thought the food was phenomenal. We started with the mixed green salad and maple bourbon wings. The wings were so good! The maple bourbon bacon sauce is great. We ordered the Trio Pizza and it was loaded with pepperoni, sausage and we added mushrooms. The crust was crunch and soft and the sauce was good. We ended our night with the Mexican cheesecake. I’m
We waited 50 minutes to get our food. Way too long; especially when you have kids with you.
Hostess wasn’t in a great mood, waiter was very nice. Goat cheese dip was pretty good, pizza was fantastic! Easily best I. St. Louis. Mixed green salad was very good.
The greasiest pizza I ever ate
We love the Edwardsville, IL location so my daughter picked this location to celebrate her 27th birthday. The hostess/server was fantastic and gave us great tips on beverages, appetizers and entrees. The only negative is that they would’nt accommodate us on special request to mark my daughters birthday. ☹️ We’ll be back, though.
We heard good things about the pizza here. We were greeted by the host and seated right away. We were aware that there was a private party going on at the same time. We sat for some time before our server came over and we ordered beers that took forever to arrive. The "bar was backed up" was the excuse. These were not complicated mixed drinks, just a couple of beers. We were encouraged to order a pizza for each person, 5 of us, and it was way more than needed. But the girls were able to take the leftovers home. The pizzas were very good, thin crust and very fresh ingredients. But again, a long wait for our food. Our server was nice but didn't really pay a lot of attention to us. While we were there a couple of other folks complained to the manager about the slow service and made quite a bit of a scene. I overheard the manager comp their food. Maybe just a bad night, but not a good overall experience.
We had a fabulous dinner! Will was our server and he was terrific - attentive and funny without going overboard.
This was my second time at Peel. I will definitley go back!
Wildfires peelritas were amazing
Glad my waitress told me about them
She was pleasant and helpful to the new clients that had never been there
I took my girlfriend there for the Valentines dinner special. The overall value was great and the food was delicious. It was our servers first night on the job and we were actually her first table. I forgot her name but she did a fantastic job!
Love love love this place!
Great food. Bar/type atmosphere. Good drink menu. Most of all love gf/vegan pizza...delish
We were a party of 7 on a Sunday Night. Great service! Food was great! Just a little pricey.
We had dinner at Peel on a cold, February night and i cannot say enough good things! From the moment we entered the restaurant the service could not have been better. The hostess greeted us with a friendly hello and ran to help open the door for my husband on crutches. We were seated at a table and within no time we had water and drinks ordered. The food could not have been better! We tried the wood fired chicken wings which were delicious! Our waiter suggested mixing the house sauce and the Buffalo because I don't like super spicy food. They were so good! The chicken was tender, meaty and not at all greasy! We tried the free salad. Our waiter advised us that a side salad is enough for 2 and he was absolutely right. It is huge. We then had the prosciutto and pineapple pizza, which was sooo good! Ended with chocolate banana mousse which was unbelievable! It is rare that I like everything we order AND get good service, but Peel came through! Thanks Aaron for exceptional service and thanks Peel for a great meal! We will be back ASAP!
Food was fine, but service was very slow. Messed up a meal (a grilled cheese) and we had to wait. Took longer than expected
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Peel. The food was amazing and the service was phenomenal. They even have gluten-free options which is a plus.
We have eaten there 3x and were satisfied. This time was very crowded and service was not good.
The decor of the place is hip.
The valet parking is not easy to spot especially on a cold winter night.
Their corking fee is a lot(35$).
Pizza is average. Chicken wings were terrible.
Desset( we ordered the Banana with chocolate mousse) it was average as well.
Their pizza crust is soggy and non-functional, requiring two hands, probably three, to hold the ingredients. No one who knows pizza would consider Peel’s crust, expensive as their pizza is, as a value.
I’m stumped as to why anyone would consider their pizza as being a value.
Service slow out of the kitchen (server Nick was very good.) Pizza could have been cooked longer and the other items were average. Just ok. Like the other Peel locations better.
The pizzas and wings were delicious! We tried the garlic & the spicy wings, both were very good.
The food was quite good, the portions ample, and the service excellent. There are other restaurants with similar fare that I would choose over Peel.
Food was outstanding! Service could have been better. Server wasn’t extremely attentive and waited for water refills as we could not find the server.
The worst hostess on the planet. Rude, careless. We would have walked out of not for the fact that we were there to meet a friend.
