About Pecorino Restaurant

"Pecorino: This newcomer from two former Toscano employees is one of the most exciting new restaurants of the year, serving one of the most refreshingly original and authentic Italian menus in the city. Bravo!"
"Angeleno Magazine"

"Choose any dish on Pecorino's menu and travel through Italy while dining! Raffaele will cook your spaghetti "Cacio e Pepe" or "Carbonara" just like the best restaurants in Rome would offer. The "Branzino stuffed with artichoke will make you feel you are in Capri again, the veal chop with Porcini will take you straight to Abruzzi. The strawberry almond cookies "Millefoglie" &the Pecorino cheeses cannot be missed. We like Pecorino because it has a warm atmosphere, very nice food and pleasant service.
It is an attractive room and if you go early it is not too noisy.
We eat at Pecorino often with friends and always feel we have had a lovely evening.

I’d like to add:, what didn’t make sense was the hostess dressed in sweats, wearing a knit beanie on, spotting a massive head cold and sneezing openly and sniffling ... very low class.
Hopefully she’ll be gone by the time we return.

I was a little disappointed. My fish $38 was cold. Everything is ala cart. They now charge $6 for bread and their dip. Dinner took 30-45 minutes - not a normal dining experience! Other Italian restaurants in the area start their service with veggies, bread and dip with a couple serving complementary prosecco...

This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Los Angeles! We ordered the home made pasta with pepper and olive oil that was mixed in a giant shell of pecorino cheese. I cannot remember the last time I ate better pasta and will make this a "go to" restaurant for all of my Westside meetings.

I come and stay for the Cacio e Pepe. I have said this before, it is magnificient. Their strawberry mousse dessert is also very yummy. Just enough to share.

Food is always excellent. A bit too crowded and noisy on a Saturday night, which made for sketchy service. And while I understand that restaurants work on narrow margins, charging for so-so bread seems inappropriate.

Wine by glass selection could be better. Though I requested another type, I was talked out of it. Perhaps it was a language barrier, but I know that didn't happen during the previous visit.

Burata for 2 was seriously chewy - and at $36.00 - a total rip off
Waiter said it was"fresh off the plane".. maybe right off the plane - but it was far from "fresh"
Spaghetti house special with Pecorino and Pepper - spaghetti was VERY thick - and seriously al dente - not especially appetizing
Service was excellent though and ambiance was nice

Beautiful, cozy, and inviting Italian restaurant with exceptionally good pasta dishes, especially the cacio e pepe tossed in a huge bowl made out of pecorino cheese, and a fantastic fish dish with thin, perfectly cooked layers of zucchini & squash. The fava bean soup is also wonderful and unique. That said, bread is normally served (with olive oil) before an Italian meal, but here there is a $6 charge for a basket, and it wasn't fresh from the oven, so would recommend skipping that unnecessary and odd expense in favor of saving room for the wonderful pear gratin dessert or chocolate mint mousse.

Amazing dinner. Billed as the "Chef's hometown recipe," the lamb casserole was tender and flavorful. The simplest pasta dish with pepper and olive oil was spectacular. For dessert, don't skip the millefoglie. The strawberry mousse, fresh strawberries and almond cookies work together to make every last bite your best ever.

We were disappointed that our appetizer order would not be submitted to the kitchen until we had ordered our main courses. This, we were told, is restaurant policy. Well, it's an unusual policy. The food was excellent and the wait staff very pleasant.

FANTASTIC FOOD!!! WONDERFUL AMBIANCE! (Service...meh! It was a Tuesday night, there were only 5 tables occupied and 2 servers working, but no one approached our table for 20 minutes...) But the food is awesome! My dining partner tried a handmade pasta with pepper and pecorino (I tried it too and it was scrumptious). I had the pomodoro/bascilico angel hair pasta. Delish. We split the avocado salad (big enough for two to split and not be stuffed before the main dish). Panna cotta and the creme brule were both fabu!

Best to have a party of 4 as the table choices for 2 are not great. Food was wonderful. I had one of the special salads and the risotto, and my wife had the eggplant parmigiana and the pappardelle. We also had a side of asparagus, wine, and the millefogle dessert, which is excellent. Prices are ok for the quality of the food, but the drinks might be a little overpriced.

Great little neighborhood gem date spot! Not a lot of tables overall, so make sure you book ahead of time to get a table. Food was beyond delightful, wine was fantastic, service was quick and attentive. I wish I knew what the dish was but the server brought out what looked to be a GIANT wheel of cheese, grated some from the bottom, tossed the fresh, hot pasta IN THE WHEEL and then back out onto the dish. Whatever it was it was a mini-show that was super cool. Even though it's a date spot it was also wonderfully kid friendly as there were a couple families there when we went, so this would make a great, upscale night out for the family as well.

Our only complaint is that most of the appetizers and salads on the menu are in $10-18 range. We ordered a special appetizer of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. It was delicious. But $38?

I think that might have been shared with us to make that decision. That's as much as a fish entree.

Delicious pasta and salad as well.

While all three of us enjoyed our meals, not everything was as good as we hoped. Let's start with the fact that bread is not served unless requested, and then costs $6 for a small basket with 6, very small pieces of non-exceptional bread. What's up with that? Feels ridiculously cheap and then feels like a rip-off. For goodness sake, just raise your prices 50 cents and don't make a fuss about bread. The burrata was quite good, but the trippa (which was why I chose the restaurant) was not as robust or flavorful as the "trippa a la fiorentina" at other restaurants. In addition, the chef thought it a good idea to put small artichoke leaves in the dish, but they were fibrous and inedible. The seafood pasta was, according to my friend, very good, as was the branzino. But it (the branzino), too, had inedible artichoke leaves in the sauce. Service was OK, but my friend thought the Italian waiter had a bit of attitude. (Hey, he's Italian; I'm used to that. With all of their art, architecture, food, wine, cars, music, etc., they have a right to a bit of attitude.)
