Great service the three times I have been. Food each time delicious. Very accommodating in reservations. Bar drinks are exactly how you want them and sitting at the bar is comfortable.
Enjoyed my dining experience on the patio: great food and attentive, knowledgeable service. The Peak is such a treasure for downtown Apex.
Great meal. Service from Kade was outstanding. We were there with 6 friends for a birthday celebration.
My wife and I went went to Peak on Salem on Monday night because their website said they had a special menu on Mondays. My wife and I are approaching our Sixties and don't need the huge portions that so many restaurants serve so the "mini Monday menu" sounded great to us. When the waiter approached us we asked about the menu on the website, he said he didn't know anything about it, but if we wanted to split entrée if we would like. We ordered an appetizer and an entrée, the appetizer came about 10 minutes after we ordered it. The entrée had still not arrived in another 1 hour and 10 minutes so we asked the water for the check and informed him we were going somewhere else to get food. He asked us to given him a few minutes to check on it. 10 minutes later he brought us an entrée and two side plates so we could split our selves. It was clear the food had been sitting in the kitchen for a while, it was no longer hot and a skin had formed on the outside of the grits. The building is cool and if they had the menu that's on the website and they could get their service together, I could see us going there 2 or 3 Mondays a month, but they don't have the menu, the service is bad, so we have made our last trip to the Peak of Salem
Not only was the food delicious, the customer service is top notch. Thank you for accommodating my large group. Everyone enjoyed it!!!
Have been to Peak on Salem twice in the last few months and the service is just not very good. Wait staff tries hard and is polite but the time to receive food is just too long. And like many other places- they are short staffed. Wait staff can disappear for long periods. Food is "OK". But for the wait time, the food should be a lot better.
The food here is absolutely amazing!! The shrimp hush puppies to the mahi-mahi and dry aged ribeye. Drinks were made perfectly . Great selection of wine. Love the service there.
The entire experience was inconsistent. We waited a long time for our appetizer and had to ask several times where it was with no check ins from our server. Our meal arrived before our appetizer so we requested to cancel it. It then arrived moments later. My meal a was suppose to have romaine lettuce and spinach but came with only brown iceberg lettuce. It was saturated with olive oil. The salmon had no flavor. This $22 dollar salad was fast food quality. I did ask the server why the lettuce was not what was listed on the menu and she said she would find out and never responded. My partner's meal was fish and chips. The meal was served in a basket which made it difficult to eat as the fish was falling through the cracks in the basket onto the table. The service was not acceptable and the food was overpriced.
One of the diners in our group did not get their food until 10 minutes after the rest of us did. Food was tasty but at the price I would’ve expected more
Where to start….My wife and I have enjoyed this restaurant for years but over the past couple it’s gone through changes. We heard there was a new chef so we gave it a try. We wished we hadn’t. I don’t know if Open Table will allow me enough characters but I’ll try.
1.) We had a reservation, me my wife and kid. My kid had a backpack and my wife had her bag and there were numerous booths open with space. We got seated at the smallest table it looked like they had. Not a good start.
2.) Not given a bottle list by hostess. Asked the server for one and he didn’t know what that was. Took a while for someone to know what it was and then get it. We were delivered a warm bottle of Prosecco that we had to let sit in ice for a while.
3.) The shrimp hush puppies were ridiculously large. There were tiny shrimps inside gobs of batter. Each one was way too big and no real flavour (this is a theme)
4.) my wife ordered the pork chop medium (which is recommended anywhere we’ve ever been) and were told the “chef doesn’t take temperature requests on pork chops”. I’d argue this new chef doesn’t know anything based on that comment alone. But the rest of the food was just as bad as that comment.
5.) the pork chop was rubbery, the sweet potatoes basically tasted like cinnamon(gross), the collard greens were not good so soggy that the liquid spilled off the plate on my wife when the food was delivered. That’s just my wife’s dish.
6.) my steak was apparently aged for 28 days and super special and when i ate it it was tough, dry, and flavourless. My side salad the lettuce was soggy, and the Mac and cheese my wife and I split we didn’t even eat after the first bites. There was zero taste it was like eating wet noodles.
7.) also the soda I had and my son had were flat.
BUT the one bright spot was the crem brulee was delicious as a dessert!
With how expensive the dishes are you’d hope it would be good. We don’t mind paying up for great food but this is not it.
Great service. Food was good, but a bit limited in selection and variable in quality.
The food was delicious. The scallops were seasoned and perfectly cooked. The oysters Rockefeller was excellent. It is a little pricey, but the food was amazing.
Location in historic part of Apex and ambience/decor are very good. Lunch menu entrees we had (shrimp and grits; green tomato BLTs) were not very good. We might still go back for dinner sometime and choose different entrees.
We love Woojin!!!!!!
Had a great waiter, RJ, who was outstanding. One of the best waiters we have ever had. Unfortunately the food was good but I wouldn't say it was great. My wife had the 8 ounce filet and asked for it medium but really came back as medium well if not even a little more than that. The shrimp hushpuppies were excellent - highly recommend. Drinks were good but bar was very backed up. Ordered wine with our dinner and was having a 2nd cocktail as there was a pretty long delay. Was over 15 minutes from the time we order than got both a cocktail and wine at the same time.
Our server (Diane I believe) was amazing. The food was great too! We all had steaks- my filet was cooked perfect. The oysters Rockefeller were great but the pork belly appetizer was to die for. I cannot wait to go back!
Sorry to say but the waiter not wearing a mask, at this point with such increased risk from Delta, really bothered both of us and caused us to reduce his rating to 3 stars and the overall restaurant score to 4 stars
Great atmosphere, delicious food, and a perfect dirty martini!
We went for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing.
So happy that this local gem has reopened, although under new ownership.
Delicious anniversary dinner here! Everything was wonderful and the service was top notch!
The food was excellent, but the service was very slow. It took 30 minutes for the server to arrive, and 40 minutes for our first cocktail. I get that restaurants are short-staffed, so I'm willing to overlook that, given the artificial distortions that have been created in our economy.
What was more off-putting was the modern art sculptures (the large hanging faces and body sculptures) all adorned with their precious COVID masks. The last thing I want to see when I am eating is a reminder of contamination, disease, and death.
It was so depressing that I won't go back--ever.
I wonder if the restaurant owner realizes that displays like this perpetuate fear, and indirectly prolong the conditions creating the very same labor scarcity? Probably not.
Great atmosphere. Innovative menu choices. A little too much salt.
We came for dinner on a week night and had the meat loaf and scallops. The scallops were perfectly cooked and flavorful. The meatloaf was also very nice but the vegetables were buried at the bottom of a stacked presentation - we would have much preferred them on the side. The major issue is that the menu prices are just too high for what is being offered and prepared, They want to be seen as a fine dining restaurant but when your only fish offering is fish & chips it tells you everything that you need to know.
Wonderful dinner, good range of menu options and energetic crowd.
Great neighborhood locale with both food and the lively atmosphere one would expect of a popular local restaurant.
Will go back.
Everything we tasted was excellent! We ordered shrimp hushpupies and pimento cheese dip and both were enough for a meal. So good! Next time, I'd request a booth as the tables for 2 are very close together and a bit harder to have a private conversation.
My dinner sides were cold. By the time waitress brought it back out, my husband had finished his dinner. Drinks were only 3/4 full and very weak
Peak is our new favorite restaurant in our new home town. The food is delicious, the atmosphere fabulous, and the service is top notch. They always have a fun special drink menu as well. Highly recommend
Food was just okay, nothing I could have pulled out of the refrigerator and the service was pretty poor.
Waiters were very attentive and service prompt. Presentation of food was very nice.
I felt the food was average and the service was ok. I would not go back. There are too many better restaurants around.
Our server Mike was awesome. Loved the Scallops! The rib eye steak my husband had at $45 was cooked and seasoned right but so tough, almost inedible. We liked the atmosphere, a little pricey for what you get. We would still go back for sure just for the scallop entre and the service!
I have eaten here several times in the past. this time the server was obviously new, and I ordered the filet medium rare, and server said they usually go slightly rarer that asked. the steak was clearly medium and not as tasty as I remembered. Overall, still a great place for dinner.
We enjoyed our dinner last night with friends at Peak on Salem. The food was delicious and our waiter, Nick, was kind and courteous. We were seated right at our reservation time and we did not wait long at all to be taken care of. We had the scallops and meatloaf meals and both were very good. The meals were pricey but expected at a place as nice as this.
My husband ordered scallops really liked them I got the fried chicken I didn’t care for it and part and part of my food was cold. Our server was nice and trying they forgot our salad and we had to ask for our refills. The appetizers were good. We felt like for what you get it’s not worth the price and we’ll try a new place next date night we still have the server the full tip. In our opinion we liked the place that it was before much better.
Awesome! The food was great and the atmosphere was nice. The service was great!
The $5 margaritas was good per my husband. I had the grapefruit mojito which was wonderful.
The salads were very good. The Cesaer salad, harvest salad and autumn salad were fantastic.
The filet was very good per my husband. My ribeye was flavorful but a little overdone. I asked for medium rare and it came out medium/medium well. My daughter had the pork chop which was very good especially with the onions. The side of Brussel sprouts was fantastic.
The decaf pressed coffee was wonderful. The limoncello cake was light and flavorful. The apple crisp was my least favorite. Not crispy at all.
I would go back and try some other entrees for sure
Service was exceptional!
