Peak on Salem
Really enjoyed our dinner. Server (Mike) was great too. We'll be back.
It was just an okay experience.
I have eaten at this restaurant when it was under different ownership and pre covid so I had some expectations that it would a nice place to celebrate my wife’s X0 birthday.
The waiter did his best but the whole service was disjointed and slow. We ordered appetizers to including a prior favorite, the shrimp hush puppies, but they were overcooked and really badly presented. My friend ordered the fish & chips and I had the southern fried chicken - like the hush puppies, they too were well over cooked. Other friends had the steak medium and it came out barely rare.
I realize that restaurants are under a lot of pressure during this covid time, but the whole experience and quality was average.
This was our first time eating at Peak on Salem under the new ownership. The menu was limited, but we didn't mind given the current situation for restaurants. They have expanded their outdoor seating section, which is nice.
Our waiter was very nice, but it took over an hour to get our food from the time we sat down.
I ordered the Summer Salad with grilled chicken. It has basic iceberg lettuce and the grilled chicken was dry. I have made better salads at home. I definitely don't recommend this salad for the $17 price.
My husband ordered the scallops, which were good, but also over priced.
I definitely recommend the cornbread muffins! Those are included at no extra cost, so I'm not sure it's worth going just for that.
We love having a restaurant like this in downtown Apex and hope they will continue to improve over time. We will at least give it one more try.
Quick and friendly service. Food was well prepared and delicious.
Very nice atmosphere, steak was delicious. Drinks were tasty as well!
Service was very slow and overpriced. It was a Saturday night and by 6pm 2 hours after they open the special of the night was sold out. Overall bad experience.
We arrived at the exact time of our reservation and were promptly seated. We placed our drink orders and when they arrived we placed our food order we inquired at the 45 minute mark about the food and again at the hour mark. The restaurant was not crowded and we ordered salad and a burger nothing too complicated. We finally got our food an hour and a half later, with little acknowledgement of our wait. Won’t go back and would not recommend. Food was fine but nothing special.
Our first time out to dinner in six months. Food was excellent. Service not so good, had to ask for our silver ware. two nearby tables that arrived after us were served before us. Server kept disappearing.
Absolutely horrible experience. My fiancé and I both ordered salads and she had soup as well. First, she asked to substitute iceberg with spring mix in her salad. When her salad arrived, there were a few leaves of spring mix on top and the rest iceberg. For mine, it was a horrible salad. I added chicken, which was an extra 5 dollar charge, and I had 4 small pieces. All in all, my salad was 17 or 18 dollars and I could get a fast food salad that tasted better. First time going and will definitely be our last.
We planned a last minute birthday celebration for a friend. We sat outside and had a wonderful evening! The drinks and food were all great. Our server was friendly and accommodating!! We’ll be back for sure!!!
great new ownership. delicious food. outdoor seating for social distancing.
save room for apple pie donuts for dessert!
Good indoor spacing and comfortable.
Enjoyable evening plan on going there again
Food was ok but not for the price. My date and I both got salads. They were good. But not enough of the veggies. Mostly lettuce and protein. Would of loved more of the veggies. But overall I’d go back bc the service was good.
Birthday lunch with Family.
RJ our server was Outstanding!!
Looking forward to our next visit.
Great experience as usual
We had a really great time celebrating my Birthday. Great food. Great service. Everyone enjoyed it. Highly recommend!
Food was delicious! Service was great! Cant wait to go back!
I would have given 5 stars on everything; the food was terrific. However, the service took longer than expected. We got there early (5:30-ish) to beat the crowd but our food service took quite a while. The Chef gets extra points for coming to our table and apologizing for the delay. The servers and staff are terrific, and love the ambience. Will definitely go back soon. (Maybe not on a Friday night, though!)
The food and the service were excellent! We will be back!
First time back here since the name (ownership?) Changed. Love the atmosphere but hate the circumstances under which restaurants have to operate.. but be that as it may.. everything was very good to excellent! Not cheap but very good quality.. service was great.. We will be coming back!
Good place. I do not know why you have a minimum number of characters. That is ridiculous and therefore so is my answer
Service was outstanding! Can’t wait to go back. Pork chops were so flavorful. Shrimp and grits delicious. Meatloaf was really good! Loved the hush puppy shrimp appetizer !
Amazing! Our waitress, Braelyn(sp?) was fantastic. She was attentive, professional and underneath her mask I could tell she was smiling. She recommended some fabulous wines also. I had the scallops and my husband had the special, a mushroom ravioli. Both were outstanding. We had a great experience and can’t wait to come back.
Loved it! We came in for a few drinks and appetizers and ended up staying for a long time--don't worry, our bill was worth it to the waitstaff and restaurant! We had a blast! Loved that there were so many gluten free options! Would love a bigger menu, and maybe with time, they'll expand a bit. We had been there in January when the new owners took over and it was great, but again, smallish menu. With COVID, it's understandable that they haven't expanded their menu yet, but looking forward to when they do! The food is wonderful and great drink menu!
Went to lunch here on a Friday and the food was fantastic so thought I’d bring the hubby back for dinner. Dinner was a different story. Had the chicken, bacon and cheese dip and it was bland and disappointing. Ordered two salads and one of the salads which was supposed to have strawberries and goat cheese literally had one strawberry and three crumbles of goat cheese.
Asked for a sample of wine in the waitress brought the wrong wine and then when we ordered a bottle it was the wrong bottle. Not a big deal since we liked the wine. However, she gave us the dessert menu and then after we picked our dessert she told us they did not have it. Overall not the best experience.
Food was great, nicely priced nice atmosphere. I had the Freshly made margarita Excellent. No mix fresh fruit. I am going back just for that and the atmosphere and of course the food. Wait staff was wonderful.
Really like the chicken sandwich. Very tender and crispy
We are so happy to be back dining in again! The food was delicious. Highly recommend the shrimp hush puppies appetizer. The manager came to our table beforehand to tell us the main meal might be delayed due to a private party. It was very considerate to know this information up front. The scallops and filet were our main course and simply scrumptious. The chef even came out at one point to see how we were doing. The southern menu was perfect and we highly recommend dining at this establishment!
Food was delicious!! Appreciated that the staff took the necessary safety precautions for us to enjoy our date night out. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Food was cold and took an hour. We will not go back.
Great service and food. Excited to keep coming bac.
Great service and really flavorful food. Owner walks around and check on everyone, very neighborhood atmosphere, while at the same time a very nice dinner. Better than the last owner for sure! We will be back.
Excellent on all categories, food, service exceptional.
We had a great time at Peak and would definitely return.
Amazing food and great service. !
From the moment we walked in we felt comfortable and welcome. There is such a nice buzz of people talking and nice jazz music in the background. Ambience is perfect.
RJ our server was superb, friendly, and professional.
Our dinner was excellent. The chef is beyond par here. The Chicharron Salad with some sautéed shrimp was just right for a summer evening.
We had a great experience with eating in the outdoor seating area at The Peak on Salem. We were only inside for a moment to check in. The table was shaded by an awning and there were ceiling fans which helped keep the flies away. Great food, great service, a little pricey but that is to be expected at this point in time.
Really enjoyed our date last week! Great drink menu a lot of shareable food options as well as filling entree’s. The oatmeal cookie with ice cream and bourbon glaze was the perfect dessert! They did a great job of balancing safety precautions without ruining the mood. Will definitely go back again soon
Ive been here before the rebranding, several times. Had a reservation (amidst covid) and mentioned it was for our one month wedding anniversary (which was VERY lowkey, again Covid). Asked to sit outside, as we saw a few empty tables there. Told none available. Instead was seated in ginormous booth in far back corner. Décor, tables and bench seating are still outdated...was hoping it would have been "freshened up" w the rebranding. Anyhow... Ordered Bleu Chips and fried oysters for starters. Asked twice for extra pepper jelly on the chips and it seemed we instead received less than the norm. Fry coating on oysters was great if a tad salty. Both had catfish with exchanged sides (house chips) for mac n cheese (tasty enough) and crispy collards (NOT crispy, spicy and lacking in depth). Nothing remarkable. Husband ordered chocolate cake to go. It was a round slab of mediocre cake with no frosting/ganache/drizzle and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. He liked it but I would have been disappointed...it reminded me of the cakes I made in my easy bake oven. I SO wanted to enjoy this experience more than I did. But it was our first date night since February so I wasn't complaining. Probably will not return though.
Our waiter Ben was great! Some of the food came out cold (wings) but we didn’t want to say anything because we could tell how hard everyone was working and we enjoyed being out with our friends. The only thing we dislike is seeing the employees wear masks.
