PB Boulangerie Bistro
Reservations at the bar are by telephone only. Full menu available.
The meal was terrific, the service was excellent, and the ambience was fine. My only hesitation in recommending PB Boulangerie is the expense. We shared an appetizer and did not have desert, and the bill, with a 20% tip, was over $100.00. For us, that makes this restaurant a place for a special occasion, rather than a regular dining spot.
Every dish we ordered was superb. The wait staff are professional and friendly and the food sublime. I think it’s one of the best restaurants on the Cape.
Exceeded expectations, which were already high. I went for the price fixe menu, and specifically the quenelles. But after the wonderful tomato tatin The chef sent over an amuse bouche of some kind of tuna pate with a drop of hot spice, and it was to die for! Everybody said so.
Then the quenelle was light as a cloud, as it should be, made with local cod and some shellfish which I’ve forgotten.
Dessert was a hefty portion of chocolate mousse, rich but not overly sweet. Also a vanilla cloud thing, with a very light touch of caramel, so it too was not super sweet.
We will go back again and again!
Not exactly sure why people think so highly of this restaurant. Tables are too close together. Waiters are banging into each other.
Food is tasty but not amazing. Bread basket is delicious with excellent butter. French fries are good, maybe I was expecting too much?
Excellent in every way, as always. Top notch service and incredible food. A true gem on Cape Cod.
First, the backstory: While on our way to PTown, we stopped at PB Boulangerie to pick up sandwiches for the beach (thanks, NYT review). Those sandwiches were SO good that we decided to make the 20 mile trek back for dinner the next night.
It was every bit worth the trip. The food was delicious. True, classic bistro fare and atmosphere (NB: not fine-china cuisine and elaborate plating). And like an authentic French bistro, most of the diners seemed to be regulars, which says a lot.
Andrea’s poached cod with leeks and clams was simply succulent - I generally avoid poached fish because it is often dry but this chef proved me wrong! My seafood quenelle was intriguing and I could have eaten an entire bowl of the the bisque in which it was served. The starter and dessert were equally good.
The wait staff was stretched a bit thin but they were still solicitous and helpful. In best bistro style, the chef came out after the meal to check on us and ask for our input.
All in all, we can’t say enough good things about PB. We will DEFINITELY be back to try other options on the menu!
Nice place, good reputation for their baked goods, the restaurant is okay. Tomato tarte tatin was excellent. The moules frites (mussels with French fries) was bland and under seasoned. The lamb T bone was okay, not great. Not much meat on the bone. Chocolate mousse and tarte tatin were serviceable, but not as good as we expected due to the bakery’s reputation. Place was very expensive. Tables were very close and it was not an intimate experience.
Yummy anniversary meal. Risotto was amazing!
Charming, intimate. Great for special nights out. Unique for this part of the Cape
Love PB and the food. They are looking for more help and they need it. But that didn’t don’t change the experience which was fantastic!
One of the best meals we have ever had!
Excellent service very nice atmosphere- super food
In a four day trip to sunny Lyon via Wellfleet we ate here twice for dinner (once as chef voyeurs at the bar) and three times for breakfast /brunch. Each experience ces’t magnifique. The $31 price fixe included a respectable range of fine appetizers and entrees from the main menu. Every delicious dish was coddled with care and presented with elegance. The buttery breakfast pastries seem too artful to pull apart and eat. We need this place in Boston....
A great value anytime, but especially so, for the Prix Fixe.
A very sophisticated French restaurant especially for the area
Food, once again, was magnificent, with jamon and 4 cheeses to start and both of us ordering the lamb, which was cooked perfectly and an extremely generous portion. Bread basket was delightful and there were some extras sent over by chef at start and a chocolate mousse at end to add to the delightful food experience. The open kitchen is fascinating to watch in action. They seem to be short staffed as there was a hiring sign and the overstressed and frazzled staff did not add to the experience. We had a reservation, but waited 20 minutes even though there were spaces opened and thought we'd been forgotten by the hostess turned busser and other jobs until two customers behind us complained and she came over to seat us. Would highly recommend, but bring your patience or you will not enjoy the experience.
Seating was very tight which contributed to the high noise level. Some dishes were delicious as expected but others like the pate and the pasta dish were bland and overpriced.
After being seated - the bartender came over to go over the specials - and bizarrely - told us the price of each three times - one before describing each dish and twice after. Waitress was great - she was the only one who seemed to be doing anything. Clearly get better treatment from staff if you are a known regular. Chef spent much time with certain people at the bar. If you are nearby I would go - but definitely not worth a special trip.
Excellent night out in wellfleet! Great food and atmosphere!
My birthday. But when I am in Wellfleet I go to to the bistro and the bakery regularly. The food is always excellent as is the service and ambiance
The food was delicious and the service very good, although a little impersonal. The setting was consistent with the sophistication of the menu. Our only complaint is that we felt rushed. From the moment we were seated until we paid the bill after a three course meal approximately one hour expired. For example, the appetizer arrived within minutes of the delivery of the amuse bouche. For this level (and price) of food, we are used to, and would prefer, more time to enjoy the meal and savor the experience.
Slow service. Limited and pricey menu. Not worth the drive from PTown. To many great options there.
Service was slow, poorly timed, neglectful, and amateurish (except for the waitress, who did her best without support from runners, the kitchen, or management. They wound up comping our drinks but we did not know this until the check was presented. A little stroking would have soothed the hurt. There did not seem to be an adult in charge. It's very expensive and the food is not good enough. And I found a mistake in French on the menu.
Food was delicious, service exemplary.
Table was small and too near the bar, very loud, had to strain to hear friends.
Would probably go back when crowds shrink a bit.
Wonderful treat for a special occasion.
Never disappointed! Always amazing. We get different dishes every time. 🤗
The room was nice, the service was very nice, but the food it self was not special, and my personal entree was returned( the second time I have ever done that) because it was so ill conceived.
10 years of bringing French flair to Cape Cod. An entree with starch and vegetable will run $45-65 and a cup of soup is $12. I’ve been going since they opened but the food is not stunning and the prices out of proportion to the food.
The menu was amazing and the food was outstanding. I tried the prix fix menu which was a great value and included three courses. The overall experience was excellent and a place we will frequent in the future.
As close to a Paris Bistro you can get! Some of the wine prices were a bit high (about 10%) but you save on not having to buy a plane ticket to France 🇫🇷
Very charming atmosphere where the kitchen is open to the restaurant and you feel the bustle in the background but it adds to the experience rather than distracts. The food was wonderful. Great wine as well.
This was our first time at PB’s and it was great. We will definitely go back before we leave the Cape.
We had a variety of the dinner options swordfish, lamb, pork and the scallop & cod quenelle, all were delicious! The atmosphere is very nice and without a doubt our waitress made the evening. She was excellent! Thank you Pb Boulangerie for a wonderful evening!
