For a night out at the races, I find the food choices quite large compared to other race tracks. the menu has a variety of choices to pique any ones palate. A good bang for your buck and the quality of food has yet to disappoint. Servers (Cathy) are quite efficient and friendly.
The food was very good. We enjoyed having gluten free french toast. It was delicious and the portion size was more than adequate. We had good service.
We were very disappointed with our evening for a number of reasons. They are as follows:
1) It said online that the salmon was $16.95 and when we saw the menu, it was $19.95. We brought it to the waitress's attention and all she said is that things change.
2) The food was mediocre with small portions for the price.
3) The waitress brought out desserts even before some of the guests were finished their main course.
4) The table maintenance was terrible. Main course dishes were still on the table when we left for home.
5) The drink service was slow. Much more would have been consumed had the server been more attentive.
6) The server went on her break for about 45 minutes and we had no one come to the table at that time even though we were still having cocktails. I had to go find someone to take our drink order.
7) There was no offer of second servings of coffee.
8) I paid for the whole bill even though we had asked for separate cheques. A few guests ordered more drinks after this. The waitress came to collect for these drinks and tried to get them to pay for the drinks that I had already paid for as well as the drinks that were ordered after.
9) The waitress brought our bills long before we were finished for the evening and then disappeared.
10) The server did not do a quality check after serving our food.
All in all, it wasn't an enjoyable evening due to poor service, and poor quality of food. We are unlikely to return there anytime soon.
Wonderful people had a wonderful time great food
We were treated with kindness by the hostess and our waitress. A very nice enviroment.
Our waitress was excellent. Made eating in a restaurant more fun and she was very attentive.
We have 14 family members dine with us and all had a great time. Thank you
this restaurant is looking out at the horse racing track in Flamboro Downs. There is a betting machine in the area if one is so inclined. The service was great with a very attentive server. My steak was cooked perfectly but my wifes salmon was a little bit dry. Over all a good experience and we will go back.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. Moderately priced. Soup was a little salty and the fish a little greasey. Otherwise a fine experience.
Although he food was pretty good, and we were there to watch the horse races, the service was absolutely awful. We made a reservation hours ahead, yet our table for 10 was not ready when we arrived. We waited 40 minutes until our drinks arrived at the table, and our food order had not yet been taken. Our pina colada's arrived in glasses with salted rims!!!! (yuck) and had to be sent back which made the wait even longer. There were no table checks to see if we needed refills, and the service was not even very friendly when someone did show up at our table. Very disappointing considering we had taken guests from out of town.
A great place for a delicious bite followed by some racing fun!
Fun place for dinner especially if you are interested in horses and/or harness racing.
Loved the atmosphere and service e was great! Using opentable to reserve was easy and efficient! No muss no fuss fun! Had a great time celebrating with family. Would do it again no problem.
It was excellent....had a great time...will come back again
Food and menu were great. Only negative was the service. Our waitress was terrible. We had a table of six and wanted to split our bill. After a member of our table had to assist the waitress with splitting up the bills and telling her what was on each bill, she over-charged us two shrimp skewers that no one had. When I brought it up, her response was "that's funny because we went through the bills together" making a reference to my brother telling her what was on each persons bill. Also, she did nothing to rectify the situation. I would recommend better customer service in the future as I will likely never eat there again
We were there to celebrate my son's 19th birthday and had a blast!!! Food and service was good and watching the races was quite enjoyable!!!
The restaurant was not what I was expecting. It's good for an older crowd. The service was great and our food came fast. The food was just okay I wouldn't go back.
Great evening only disappointment was that all food ordered was not served at the same time. Food was good and the waiter made the best of the situation for a fine evening at the track
I booked the upper dinning area for our 21 wedding anniversary the reservation bumped me to the lower level due to private party. I had no idea until I was on site. they then sat us close to the track but behind a poll. staff never replaced our cutlery we shared 1 fork, knife and 1 napkin. we only stayed for 1 drink and an appetizer. we left very disappointed.
We were a group of 4 friends that decided to "go to the races" for an evening out. Before we sat down I had to brush crumbs off my chair. The tablecloth had a couple of spills on it and also had crumbs on it. I was reluctant to use my napkin - couldn't be sure that it was actually clean. The server was very difficult to understand - he mumbled. He brought our entrees and came back less than 5 minutes later and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu and order tea or coffee. When we did finish our entrees and told him that we were not going to order dessert and coffee he brought us the bill - without asking if we were ready for the bill. We were going to order more drinks - but decided not to. He obvioulsy wanted us to leave, so we did! We felt totally rushed. The food was OK - not great. I would not go back to this restaurant. And I would not recommend it to anyone.
Friendly wait staff. Good value. We had the Saturday night special which was prime rib for $14.95! The only minor complaint was it took the waiter forever to find the horseradish.
We waited 40 minutes just to get water. Another 25 before our order was taken. The wait staff were not very friendly. Food was mediocre and then we waited another 30 minutes for desert. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL
I ordered the ultimate grilled cheese without onions, it came with onions. Not many fries and they were cold. No Coors Lite in tap which I found surprising. The races were cancelled....I understand why this was done. We went to the casino not many 1 cent machines. We were there celebrating New Year's Eve.
Very slow disorganized service. Initial greeting very slow , my salad came several minutes after my main course. Drink refills never offered , people bringing out the food didn't seem to know where it was supposed to go.
We were disappointed that it is no longer a buffet. We have been going there at Christmas for a number of years and always enjoyed the buffet. The staff told us that there was a large notice on the website announcing the change... but, I went looking for it and could not find anything of the sort.
Great time, lots of choice, very accommodating. Food was excellent, went out of their way to ensure we were having a great time. Thank you!
staff were very friendly, polite made sure that we were satisfied with everything.
Could not maintain the attention of the Server this really detracted from an otherwise lovely evening.
A family supper for my husbands birthday..good table by window with view of racing which my grandson loved as he could walk up to the doors and watch in or outside.
There was a great choice for food.
The manager came by the explain about the betting as it was our first time...it was so much fun..then we rounded off the evening at the slots for a short time...we would defiantly come again.
the Pavilion was fine , the menu could use more variety. our waitress was very friendly. The biggest problem was they didn't have our reservation . We were told they were looking into it but never got back to us with an answer
booked this thinking it was the buffet
chicken fingers overcooked
wings were only suppose to be hot but more like
suicide as hot to lips
service terrible and reserved table was by
check in desk awful this was not on comps but cash
went again on Monday
service still terrible saw somebody walk out because of slowness
prime rib was good, service was good, but the buffet selection was blah pork dry, chicken dry and boring, potatoes were nothing great, salmon dry, vegetables looked like they were warmed from a can not very fresh no flavour for $27.00 not great, only went because of the racing
The food here is good, but there is not a large selection like you'd get at other buffets. Everything is scaled down due to limited space. Shrimp, small salad & bread bar with 1 soup offering. Hot entrees this visit included: pineapple pork, meatless tortellini, fish, and roast beef. Dessert table had a number of different types of cakes (all white except 1) and some squares and 2 different types of pies (I wanted Pecan, but they didn't have it this visit). At $26.95, I find it a little pricey for what you get. A bottle of wine will cost you about $30 (again, markup was a little steep for a local Niagara wine). We go here for dinner when we want to gamble afterwards. We are not regulars due to the price but rather opt to eat at the other food place, where are prices are more reasonable and the servings are big. They have a poutine to die for.
THIS VISIT WAS NOT AS GOOD AS PREVIOUS TIMES. THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE STAFF ON THE FLOOR. OUR WAITRESS WAS PLEASANT BUT HARD TO GET HER ATTENTION , SHE HAD SO MANY PEOPLE TO LOOK AFTER.
THE BUFFET WAS SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTING, NOT AS GOOD AS EXPERIENCED ON OTHER VISITS.
The buffet was all full terrible food. Little choice. Not kept full. The price of /26.95 was way over priced. I would eat somewhere else then go to the races. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone Save your money
I enjoy going to the buffet almost every Saturday. The people are great and it is a fun time.Last visit although I got great service from Connie as my server,I found the food not up to the usual standard. The side dishes were overspiced and the first roast beef was overcooked and dry.The second roast that came out was better tasting. My guest also noticed a decline in food quality.
The prepared desserts are always great but I have noticed lately there is no fresh fruit available.
I realize prices for fruit are high yet they are a healthier choice and their absence is noticed.
These issues are why my guest and I will be dining elsewhere in the near future.
Main course and starters fresh and good. Desserts should be better. Pies were ok. You need fresh fruit, not canned or bottled. And vary your toppings or icons to cakes - real cream with just a little sugar, mousse , custard - aim for delicious vs. pretty but tastes like lard.
I gave only 2 stars considering these facts :
- Price to expensive for this type of buffet, with only few items (except for desserts)
- Food to much cooked ( salmon, turkey )
- No view on the track
The entire night was not a positive experience to say the least....for the price it was awful...I took my family as a holiday treat and from the start it was a let down. Server came and sat us by the window and then all went downhill. Asked for our drink order and if we wished programs (which by the way should be offered complimentary for those having dinner) then i had to go and get them so we could wager on the first race....desert bar was very good, but the rest of the buffet was not....hot food was warm at best, most salads had olive oil (yuck...who decided that we all need a good dose of olive oil...just give plain salads with mayo or other dressing) and sometimes you gad to wait because the site was understaffed...if you are open staff correctly....shouldn't have to wait for carved warm roast beef to be carved while that person is replenishing food items. Just a suggestion....salads should include a regular coleslaw, regular potato salad, some salad items for a garden salad, and identify the dressings with either spoon labels or tags. As for the soup, i watched and only saw one person eat the soup...who serves a weird soup like navy bean soup at a buffet, unless there is a second choice like mushroom, minestrone, or clam chowder or perhaps even a tomato bisque...you know a regular soup...then there was the watery gravy...either make a gravy or make a juice but 3 containers of the same runny gravy did not make sense...and turkey was dry. The best part of the whole nite was the races, but i could have saved a lot of money to bet more by just sitting in the stands. I would rate the entire night disappointing especially since 2 members of our party were from out of province and were looking for a good time and received a disappointing meal...especially for the price.
Please sign me as not a happy diner!
Somewhat disappointed to be honest. I was not aware it was a buffet- therefore not prepared to spend $30.00 a person. When I previewed the website it stated buffet was Saturdays so I purposely chose Sunday for that reason- then to get there and be told that due to the holidays the buffet was being served on Sunday as well. There is no way anyone in my party ate $30.00 worth of food. The buffet was actually very poor, with VERY limited choices. We were celebrating my mom's 65th birthday, I was kind of embarrassed that I didn't know it was a buffet night.
Overall the dining experience was good however I'm a vegetarian and there wasn't much for me to choose from. My family loved all the MEAT!!!! I would have preferred a veggie burger from the other section; I had one last time I was there and it was fabulous. Service was great.
