Paul Martin's American Grill - Westlake Village Ratings and Reviews
Sebastian was a wonderful waiter. Helpful suggestions for a perfect dinner. Unfortunately he was not notified that with reservations made, i informed the restaurant it was for my mom's 83rd Birthday. It was never acknowledged by staff. I had been here before for a birthday, and was brought a desert for the honored guest. Big oversight on the restaurant's part.
Food as usual, very good. Service below fair. Wife's birthday ignored until I said something to server even though I received a call same afternoon as reservation and reminded person of birthday. Told they had it and would be taken care of. Asked if one of vegetables, that came with meal could be substituted for mashed potato, was told no but could order side if I wanted it. Also told that butter was salted because "bread has little taste". All in all not a good night.
The service and the food was great. It can get a little loud but it was a great experience. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the desert and coffee finished it off. Highly recommend trying Paul Martins. We will definitely go back.
Horrible service last night. Wine came 30 minutes after orders, 5 of us got our meals, 30 minutes later our 6th person salmon finally arrived after discussing issues with manager Devin (who did not want to listen and walked away from us). Table was never cleared.
We have all been coming here for years, sooooo disappointing. Manager and server should be ashamed of how they handled this situation.
We have been here before and it enjoyed it very much, but this time we were very disappointed. I made 7:00 reservations, and we arrived at 6:55, we weren’t seated until 7:25, and then didn’t see a server for another 15 minutes. We were only a party of 5 so it should not have been that difficult to seat us, and other sized parties were seated before us. The food was good, but for $300 we could have had a better experience at another place.
We had reservations for 2 and we had hoped to get a nice quiet booth but were sat at a table for 4 in kind of a noisy area by the bar. And there were booths for 2 people available. Never understand that. Service was okay, nothing exceptional.
But the part that really bothered me was I had 2 $50 gift cards and they would only let us use one of the gift cards. Does not make sense. Gift cards are just like cash and what is the difference if we pay with gift cards or credit card?
I bought them on their website and it encourages you to buy $50 increments so you get the $10 extra card. It says NOTHING about not being able to use 2 $50 gift cards either. What’s the difference or 2 $50 cards or 1 $100 card? VERY ANNOYED.
The ribs were new on the menu so my husband tried them - not at all tender.
My skirt steak was also not very tender.
And the take-home containers are one size - large, so everything either gets dumped together into one container or you would need 2 or 3 large containers to take the various foods on your plate home separately.
We had a party of 6 for lunch. The service we received from Courtney was great and the food was also good. Fish tacos, bacon and steak tacos, classic burger, pastrami, turkey and beef dip sandwiches were all very good, as were the specialty draft beers. Only negative was the fries (both regular and sweet potato versions), which were served on the cold side and just were not the same quality as the rest of the food. Despite the disappointing fries, Paul Martin’s is definitely a very good place for lunch!
We dined ar Paul Martin’s on Christmas Eve. We had an 8 pm reservation and were seated promptly. I believe eating later avoided the rush. Our entrees were delicious; my Caesar salad could have been better. Our server, Mike, was wonderful. If you want to be able to have a conversation, ask to be seated away from the bar area.
After several repeated visits where the service and ambiance were great, we have been repeatedly disappointed by the quality, presentation, flavor, and preparation of the food. The kitchen is lacking, both at lunch and dinner. They need some major improvements if they expect to survive in the area.
The food was good to very good
My wife had the steak sandwich, she said the prime rib sandwich at Tam O Shanter is better. I had the short ribs, excellent. They brought is a complimentary artichoke, very good. Nice restaurant, attentive staff. Would go back. The 1,000 was nice too.
I was not thrilled with the level of service or value from our meal. I was underwhelmed by the portions of the skirt steak as well as the balance of flavors in the grill salad. I would probably only go back for happy hour/drinks because the ambiance is pleasing. Other than that, not my first choice..
