Paul Martin's American Grill - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Love going to Paul Martin's! We went for the Fried Chicken Special on Tuesday night - So Good! Pre Fixed menu with just the right amount of food - Salad, Chicken&Mashed Potatoes, and a Great Dessert which was a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream, Chocolate, and a Marshmallow Cream Dollop and a Graham Cookie The Best SMORES Ever!!!!!
The location is so far away. It is not centrally located. The traffic is horrible to get to this location. I feel so aggitated by the time I get to Scottsdale because of the horrible traffic that I am not in a good mood by the time I arrive. Plus, the parking situation is terrible when the restaurant is busy. I wish there was another location in Phoenix or in the West valley area. I get so angry about how certain restaurants only want to locate in Scottsdale. I actually hate Scottsdale because many of the people have been so ugly, hateful and snobbish towards others in the community that do not live in Scottsdale. The arrogant attitude and ugliness is nausiating and a huge turn off. Sometimes, I think that businessness alienate clientel when they only have a location in Scottsdale.
Visiting from Denver looking for a special place to entertain clients. Food was outstanding we had the pork tenderloin and our guests had the halibut- rave reviews! Noise level was moderate and it helped to be in a booth since hearing impairment was one of our issues. Next time in town we will be back-
Eating at this Scottsdale establishment rarely surprises me. The food is always top-notch, the service excellent and the environment pleasant. This visit was no different. I enjoyed The Grill salad ahead of my meal of Wagyu Skirt Steak (delicious!). My partner had the Steakhouse Cobb.
We used a gift card and that seemed to cause an issue because the waiter returned the bill stating that only $80 out of the $100 on the card could be used. Something mumbled about that's what's crazy about using gift cards in restaurants. The issuer expects you will include a tip on the card. I just paid cash and took the card back with the $20 balance I had intended to use for the bill. All in all, a good meal, spoiled by this foolish transaction. The total bill was $102.01. I provided the card and $2.01 and was ready to tip $20. Inconvenient at best.
We love this place!!! We've been going here for years & have never had a bad meal. We have recommended it to friends & relatives & now we bump into them when we go there. In fact we bumped into associates on Monday night who we had taken there last year.
I always order the short ribs & my wife always orders something different.
We were a little disappointed in that they had cut back the menu for Monday night???
Somewhat limited menu selection. Only one of the four dinner selections at our table was better than average. Drinks were just ok and not up to par with their cost. Value just not there all around. Our waiter, Michael S. (#171), was the only thing worthy of five stars.
All of us had to send our steaks back to the kitchen for either being over cooked or under cooked. The most embarrassing part is the lone female at our table received her re-cooked steak last which put a lot of stress on us three men well before hers. Not sure what to call the Brussel sprouts. Twice the service staff knocked over our forks to the floor and we figured out we had to hold on tight to our wine glasses whenever they were around the table. To be fair the management tried to make up for all the errors with free desert but you pay for service in Scottsdale when there are multiple options and I would probably find another venue.
This was a last minute restaurant choice and we were totally blown away by the quality of the food! The crab cake special appetizer was one of the best we have ever tasted. The main courses (halibut with beurre blanc and steelhead) were fantastic as well. Perhaps the capper, though, was the ability to order premiere wines by the glass (e.g. Rombauer, Jordan, Cakebread, etc). A great experience at very fair prices. We will be back!
Staff and management here are the very best! My server was super-fantastic and timely! Thank you Tim and Eric, for making my dinnertime so pleasant on Saturday, December 30th. My date really liked this place too, as it was his first experience at your establishment. I feel like I'm at home when I dine at Paul Martin's American Grill. Consider coming here folks for your New Year's Eve/New Year's Day celebration and holiday plans. You won't be disappointed. Love the Cedar Plank Salmon, and the Salt & Pepper Shrimp!
I dine at Paul Martins about 6-10 times a year to entertain clients, mostly for lunch. The food and service are always excellent. Tonight my family and I went to celebrate my birthday. Our server recommended a wonderful bottle of Pinot Noir, and I am grateful for that. She knew her wines. (Of course, I had to request a taste of the wine. Since they serve fine wines by the glass, a fine restaurant would have offered a taste.)
Two of the four entrees were served hot, and the other two just warm. I sent my filet mignon back to the Kitchen (a very rare move be for me) and another was delivered within mins at a perfect temp. If you order the petite filet be prepared for 4 oz of steak with a very small portion of crab on top. Literally it was one of the smallest entrees I have ever seen. Kids size. Still it was tasty.
When we were seated, I mentioned to the waitress that it was my birthday. (I also did so on the Open Table reservation.) When we didn’t order dessert, our waitress delivered the check. When I politely inquired if the kitchen was going to send a desert to the table, the waitress said she was sorry to have forgotten my birthday — and promptly served a desert for the table. It was very good.
While Paul Martins is a good restaurant, this was not their best night. Maybe we will only return for lunch.
Our server John was fantastic. He made the dinner a truly memorable dining experience. He was fun, knowledgable and was very attentive without being intrusive. He was right on with all his recommendations. The salt and pepper shrimp appetizer was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. Service was well-timed and friendly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
It was my first visit to this place and It was great! Restaurant competition is tough in the Phoenix/Scottsdale market and there is a bunch of great places to dine. But Paul Martin’s make the difference. Our party had the fantastic seafood platter (5 out of 5 stars), the braised short rib (4,5/5) the baby back ribs (mouthwatering 5/5) and even the banana cream pie (huge piece!!) was 5/5. Excellent food quality overall, fast and efficient service, nice environment. Will definitely come back!
