MY TACO WAS LIMP FROM THE SALAD DRESSING. OTHERWISE THE SERVICE AND EVERYTHING WAS GOOD
It was not busy during our time frame
Hostess- not welcoming/friendly upon arriving. did not acknowledge/thank us when we left.
Food- every dish heavily salted-(personal taste)
Music- acoustics seemed extremely loud along the booth row
Restrooms- unkept , slippery floor with soap.
This location does not seem to meet what the brand promises.
Maxwell and Kevin were great bartenders and servers. We spent an extra hour due to them!
We had such a great time, our server Sierra provided great service and knowledge of the menu. We enjoyed her recommendations, and the great energy she provided throughout the whole service. Perfect night, thank you!
Excellent food. Great for friends and family outing.
The day of Mother's Day we decided to go for a late lunch at 2PM and we made a reservation. When we got there the place was crowded with lots of people waiting. I gave them my name and within a minute we were seated at a lovely booth and our server appeared momentarily. I was surprised because of all the reviews I have read about poor service. Our server was great! We opted not to have the Mother's Day Special Breakfast which we thought was a deal at just $27. We ordered drinks and an ahi tuna appetizer, and they came in a timely manner. Our server was very attentive even though the place was very crowded. We ordered the halibut and the ribs, both delicious. I received 9 ribs, meaty as can be, so I brought 5 home. I always have dessert, but he portions were large so we were full. I actually can think of nothing to complain because from the moment we walked in until we left everything was great! This was only my 2nd time in about 5 years that we had gone to this place too.
Having been there many times, would recommend l. Do not recommend for holiday. They can’t manage a lot of reservations/crowds efficiently. Mother’s Day was a flop. Even though they apologized for bad service, it was still bad service.
Had 12:15pm resi. Was seated at 12:40pm. Drinks took 10-20 minutes to come out. Staff was nice but kitchen was backed up. For a resi we were seated in the corner - not great seats
We went here for Mother's Day brunch and right away the staff let us know that we were NOT valued customers. The table we were seated at was one of those fold-out tables, and all the chairs were folding chairs. The table was wedged in between several other larger tables with real chairs. This was only table in the restaurant with this set-up, and there were at least 6 tables open when we were seated. We requested an open booth from the hostess, who allowed us to sit at the booth, and at no time during our meal did the tables in the restaurant completely fill with customers. Therefore, I can only assume that our original seating was either an act of extreme carelessness or open hostility by the hostess. At no point did the waitstaff acknowledge how rude it was to place us at that table when other tables were open and available.
There were other service issues with the meal as well: The waiter got a drink order wrong, the mimosas were brought after our food was delivered and only after we reminded the waiter, and he forgot to bring me a replacement silverware set even though I specifically requested it.
We keep returning to this restaurant because the food is usually good and the location is good, but this is not the only time we have experienced issues with the service. This is a consistent problem with this restaurant that needs to be addressed.
We love the service and the food!
My husband and I rarely get any alone time during lunch which was great because we had the off day together so we went to Paul Martin’s we had the bar area and our server Jackie was wonderful and had great recommendations and we both had Paloma’s which were amazing thank you!
Food used to be fresh and organic...was very disappointed... tasted more like fast food. It wasn’t crowded at all...now I see why. Raspberry martini tasted more chemical than fresh. This used to be an in spot but no more. And they ran out of wings...really? How was this possible at 6:30p when hardly anyone was there.
Had good food and our waiter was great. Will be back again.
Had a very pleasant time. Good food and ambience.
Service just ok but server had no personality and service on the slow side. Prime rib had good flavor but was chewy!
Our server was very friendly & helpful
The food was good but not hot. The mashed potatoes were really good but warm not hot. The braised short rib was really flavorful.
Yes but only if they don't mind noise! Was very very noisy. Expensive.
We had a great Easter meal with our two babies in tow. It was a fantastic deal and we loved how the restaurant was family friendly. The patio was very nice and the staff was friendly. We will definitely be back.
This was my third trip to Paul Martin's and my first to their San Mateo location. I had the shrimp pasta dish which was much more enjoyable than the Pork Chop I had on my previous visit. I would order this again.
I also got an Arnold Palmer here, which is not always something I can get when I go out to eat. This was nice.
My wife had a great salad which she enjoyed and we had a good time with two of our close friends. All in all a good night.
Service almost always an issue.
Hostess had a major attitude.
Maxwell was great up until the end, when his manager stepped in & took the bill quickly for processing and a quick chat! Fried Chick lunch while errands @ Hillsdale. Everything was delicious, chicken, potato salad and corn. See you soon.
We have been to Paul Martin twice, and the services were not good. The food are expensive and good, but the service was so cheap. I will not consider coming back.
Food was ok, not cooked as ordered. The waitress was a smoker and her body odor reflected this.
Everyone was happy food was well prepared and service was great. Booths are cozy we were there on a non crowded weeknight which was perfect
I had the ahi noodle salad. It was very good. Asked to have the ahi cooked rear and it was perfect with a glass of Chardonnay!
My friend ordered the chicken sandwich. I rated it and that was yummy. Told my friend with could share that sandwich another time with our own salad. You can’t beat the price for the quality of food.
Will differently go back
The grilled artichoke was very disappointing, the best part the choke was scooped out and not served to us. It was probably used for the spinach and artichoke dip. Expensive at $18.00 for the artichoke appetizer without the center choke. The Sunday prime rib special was a great dinner. We received salad, prime rib ~12 ounces, mashed potatoes and ice cream and cookie dessert.
It was great! I had the crab cake benedicts & it was delicious!
I was disappointed . Not my usual experience here, which is generally great. They changed the calimari recipe. It used to be soaked in buttermilk and was divine. Now it’s bland, over cooked and tasteless. Bring back the buttermilk! Service a little slow tonight.
Took a friend for a birthday lunch. We were seated in a booth as requested after being greeted by a friendly hostess. The menu has a terrific selection of appetizers, soup, salad, burgers, and main courses. There's something for everyone. We had a delicious mushroom soup and a burger which was juicy, delicious and was served with a lovely side salad. If you're at Hillsdale, this is the place to go!
Love your Happy Hour menu and glad that it's available everyday from 3 - 7
My husband and I went late in the evening to get a quick dinner and found ourselves disappointed with the food. We ordered an ahi tuna salad and crab cakes. The tuna on the salad was chewy and the crab cake was more a blob of crab that was tremendously over-salted. Our glasses of wine were good and the service was nice as well. Perhaps going on a Friday evening after a busy happy hour left us with minimal quality food... not likely to go back though though since the prices were high for such an unimpressive menu.
service a bit slow and the restaurant was cold...not incredibly willing to do substitutions; i wanted to have ahi added to the garden salad and they said, they couldn't do that. didn't make sense to me.
Celebrated a birthday dinner with a few girlfriends. Our waiter was difficult to flag at times and took a bit gore our initial drink order. Overall great dinner though!
Great service and food. We had a party of 10. They were very accommodating. I would definitely plan dinner here again.
We had a very special Sunday family brunch lunch at this great restaurant in our neighborhood.
We had great food and service. We enjoy everything at Paul Martins from a casual drink and appetizers to a nice relaxing dinner.
