Paul Martin's American Grill - Mountain View Ratings and Reviews
When the server was unaware of how to make my drink and took 10 minutes locating the manager, the manager finally came and asked me what it was. He then took 10 more minutes to figure out the drink. At no point did the manager take ownership and apologize for tardiness. I look for the onsite manager to take ownership and solve the problem quickly.
The service was very spotty the night we ate here. We had to keep looking for the server.
The steak was too salty & the restaurant ran out of warm fudge & icecream!!
The seats at the table were really low & not comfortable at all.
Not such a great experience for the 6 of us.
We had the private room which was great. The food was good, the waiter was good, and the wine was good. However, it TOOK forever. 50 minutes for main dishes, 30 minutes to get water, and 15 minutes to get credit card back. Service/speed is not worth the price. Not coming back to this location.
I've eaten here several times because it's got a nice atmosphere and menu is good, but I have to say that in retrospect, it's almost always underwhelmed. Mostly b/c I think the food tends to be underseasoned. Had the short ribs and cauliflower recently and both were pretty bland.
The service here is horrendous. Every time I come I am reminded why I should go somewhere else. The food is thoroughly mediocre. If you like chicken you are out of luck, there is only 1 chicken dish on the menu. The steaks are very overpriced for the quality. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Went for my Father-in-laws 92 Birthday, had reservations at 7 but they accommodated our request to change to 5:30 at the last minute, even though we were a party of 7. Service was perfect and menu had a variety of options so that everyone's dietary concerns were easily met. The atmosphere was classy and comfortable, we could not have been more pleased. We are from Seattle but will make sure that when we are in town that this place is a solid choice as well as the rest of the group who are more local will enjoy without us.
The kitchen was not prepared to handle a New Years Eve dinner, they ran out of the specials early. We were very disappointed and looked forward to the specials we saw on their website for that evening. They threw together what they had left of one of their specials, we had to send it make it was awful.
I was taking friends out to dinner for a special occasion for the holidays. The service was great but the $43 steak I ordered was sinewy and this really affected the overall impression, sadly.
I did not make a fuss, I did not complain as my friends expressed that their meals were great. I wanted everything to be perfect.
I thought long and hard about leaving a review, but I decided it would be good constructive criticism.
It may put me off to going to Paul Martins in future, or at least from ordering the steak.
The menu offers a nice variety so it can be difficult to choose. Asked our server (Juan G.) for some recommendations. His appetizer choice was the Fried Calamari..which he described perfectly and was delicious. For the entree he suggested the “brick” chicken. Again spot on!!!
We chose Paul Martin's for our office party and was not disappointed. We were given a room off the main area that accommodated all 9 of us and it was great! Everyone loved the food. As the only vegan, I was very impressed with the warm quinoa salad. This was my only choice however so I would recommend more vegan dishes and ESPECIALLY a vegan dessert choice. Coconut ice cream and dark chocolate hot fudge is really easy to provide and so yummy!! Thanks for a great experience!
We have loved this place. But last night my husband's salad with salmon was bad. The salmon was almost inedible...watery and jusst bad. Way too much dressing on the salad. The rest of us had good food...great fish tacos. very expensive for the food not to be consistently good.
I've eaten at Paul Martin's at least 20 times, but the other night they were not up to their usual levels of service. We showed up 15 minutes early for our reservation and the hostess said it would be 30 minutes before they would be able to seat us (even with the reservation). We thus went to the bar, ordered a drink and bumped into some friends there. We also ordered an appetizer which came out really fast. After 25 minutes (10 after our reservation) we went back to remind the hostess who knew where we were by that time) but there still was no table available. About 5 minutes later the restaurant began clearing out and there were numerous tables opening up. Still no notice hostess. After another 10-15 minutes (now 30 minutes past our reservation time) I went back to the hostess and she said she could seat us now. She then lead us to a small two-top back by the kitchen and not one of the 3-4 open tables available in bar area.
Once we sat down the waiter promptly came by, took our order. Our drinks and bread came out in a proper time however our food was no where to be seen. After 45 minutes we waived down a busser who got our waiter. He apologized for the kitchen and said our order was entered at the same time as a 20-top and it'd be a few more minutes. He did comp another drink for us, but by this time we were hungry. After another 15 minutes (now 60 after being seated and 90 minutes after our reservation time) our food finally came.
What we thought was going to be a relatively quick and nice Friday Night Dinner turned out to be an entire evening experience. I'll give Paul Martin's another chance however, if the service remains like we experienced the other night, I'll choose to take my dining dollars elsewhere.
We were here for a birthday dinner, and for the first time in a dozen visits, the experience was disappointing. My entree was wrong and the birthday girl’s skirt steak was delivered cold. It took them forever to correct the problem. The manager was apologetic and adjusted the bill, but overall we wished we had gone elsewhere.
This was a bad night. A friend wanted to take us to dinner and I chose this since we've had good experiences in the past. Our server didn't understand any of the cocktails we ordered, when they did come they were crazy strong and we had to order mixers on the side. Our host was very excited about the prime rib, apparently the meat was unacceptable to the kitchen so he ordered the filet. It was the saddest filet we've ever seen, maybe an inch thick and not as raw as he had ordered. They were also out of the ice cream that he ordered, to be fair they ran next door and brought some back for him but it wasn't very good. Although two of our meals were good, I was so embarrassed that I brought him here. He's used to very fine dining and this was just not up to par. Our server was nice but very inexperienced and the overall service, even with the manager coming to our table and apologizing, was not great.
I ordered my ribeye to be cooked as medium rare, but it came out as well done and cool. The second round was cooked to medium rare, but lack taste. It was advertised as a prime cut, but it was far from that. The restaurant seemed to be overrun with large parties. It appeared it could not handle the load. Still no excuse.
I love Paul Martin's, but unfortunately, I can't leave an outstanding review this time around. When I first called to make the reservations, I made sure the waiter/waitress would bring my parents an anniversary dessert. The response was they normally only do so for birthdays, but of course, they would accommodate. The day of the reservation, I called again to make sure the dessert would be ready to go. The response was yes, my parents would be getting an ice cream and shortbread cookie dessert. Sadly, my parents did not receive a dessert at all. I'm not sure who dropped the ball, but since this was my parents' 30th anniversary dinner from me and my sister, we were quite disappointed, to say the least.
First off, I was late and they were still able to accommodate me. I had requested a table and they only had a booth open at that time, instead of making me wait, another customer wanted a booth and had actually just been seated at a table, one of the managers on duty asked if she wanted a booth one was now available and she was happy to move and there was my table! He did not have to go through all that trouble for me, but he did and it was so much appreciated! The food was fantastic. The portions of the sides were a bit small but very tasty. A fabulous dinner on my Anniversary - what more could you ask for!
