Incredibly disappointed in this place. When it first opened, it wasn't very good. Still, we decided to give it another shot a few weeks back. We had a pretty good experience too, albeit with low expectations. We were looking forward to going again, and we were hopeful we'd become regulars. The last visit, however, was a regression to the mean and we won't be back. Granted, the place was busy. But the food presentation was bad. A $24 entree seemed like it was literally slopped onto the plate from the pan. The same dish was presented more elegantly just weeks earlier. Worse, our server placed our order incorrectly and didn't take accountability for the mistake. Once the bill came, however, it was clear the server was at fault. We get that mistakes happen. We understand that being a server is hard. But the approach was all wrong. We want to see restaurants in our community succeed. But we're sorry to say we just can't support this place. Such a bummer.
A wonderful place to celebrate a birthday. The staff was responsive and thoughtful. The kitchen was a little slower than ideal, but the food was flavorful and everyone was happy with their meal.
Enjoyed the evening. They were great to accommodate our party of 10 in a private room!!
A bit disappointed today. They weren't their usually dependable selves, I suppose. Everything was a let down from the food to service. We had to ask for bread. The French onion soup was okay. It had plenty of cheese, but lacked ,most ironically, onions. Very few in either my wife's or mine. The taste wasn't superior as we've come to expect either. My wife's calamari was a huge disappointment today. Apparently they fried it in rather old oil, for it had absorbed a significant amount of oil and lacked crispness. The most shocking disappointment was my supposed filet mignon. I don't think it was filet mignon but top sirloin. It wasn't very tender, lacked flavor, and was the most ill-shaped cut for a filet mignon I've ever seen. Very sad indeed! At least the wine was good and my side of mashed potatoes were good. Otherwise today was a washout! Not worth the drive today.
The food was very disappointing, it was my son's birthday and he was extremely disappointed. The food lacked seasoning and flavor.
Paul Martin's is a great restaurant close to our home and the food is delicious!
Excellent wine! -great dining experience, the Alaskan halibut was to die for!
The kitchen failed our awesome waiter, Ivan. Husband's steak under done, my burger overcooked and obviously a pre done puck. So sad for a place that prides themselves on mesquite grilled meat. Won't be back.
Went to Paul Martin's last night. This is my 4th time there. Generally, their food is excellent and service is very good. However, last night they ran out of the candied walnuts for the salad (but didn't tell us - and its not a cheap salad) and our steaks took 1 hour to arrive. When our food arrived, my steak, which I asked for to be medium rare, was totally rare. I was disappointed as it was late already. I sent it back. The manager came over to apologize and hand delivered the steak after it was supposedly cooked. But the 2nd time, it was *still* rare! Sent it back another time - 3rd time was a charm.
The waiter was very apologetic but we later found out that the main chef was on vacation and I got the feeling that another chef was also out. So apparently we got the 3rd string. Moreover, the people next to us received their steaks earlier than we had and they sat down later (same size party) but they told us their steaks were cold.
Next time - I'll check to make sure the main chef is "on".
So my review is a bit tainted but for this 1 time experience. In the past, I've had nothing but good experiences here.
We have enjoyed most of our dinners here, but Saturday's experience was not great. I ordered the steak salad with no bacon, and the waiter brought it with bacon on it, said "with no bacon" and then dropped it on the table and left.
My husband carefully explained his gluten and dairy allergies and asked if the chicken was a safe choice. The waiter assured him that it was a safe choice. It was not. My husband started having a reaction after three bites and had to stop eating his dinner. The waiter looked at the plate at the end of the meal and removed the full plate without comment.
The prices keep going up while the quality and service keeps going down. We loved this place when it first opened but the last few times we've been there the food and service have been disappointing. Sorry to say we won't be returning.
Wonderful atmosphere and service, but the food was disappointing. My burger was just okay, I didn't finish it. My friend's french dip was too salty, and my mac & cheese had an unusual seasoning that just wasn't to my taste. On the plus side, the short ribs, mashed potatoes, and cauliflower sides were delicious. So I'd give it another try, especially since the waiter was delightful!
our server barely spoke out loud, and not even english?
the bread arrived very late, and overall coordination seemed poor.
but the food was well prepped and hot.
Good food and service but overpriced
Sunday special featured HUGE roast beef serving. Everything else very ordinary.
Date with my girlfriend for Happy Hour. Reasonable pricing but food was mediocre at best. I would recommend for drinks only as the bar is nice.
Was pleasantly surprised by this visit to Paul Martin's in MV after a couple of lackluster experiences. I took my friend here for her birthday and were pleased to get a booth for two in the back. Our server was attentive and friendly. We shared a salad, I had the salmon which had lots of bacon on it, and she had the pork chop, which was so big she took some home. My Greyhound cocktail was strong and delicious. Thank you for a nice evening, letting us girls talk.
Food was not what I would call gourmet but it was excellent and the service was perfect.
Despite having a reservation it took the restaurant 30 minutes to seat us. It sorta ruined our Valentine's day dinner. Luckily the server was very kind.
The service, the food, and the atmosphere were good BUT too pricey.
Great food and variety including steaks, veggies, salads, and chicken. Service is always good. Lively/Noisy but feels exciting. Can be a long wait so make a reservation. It has an open kitchen so your clothes will STINK after coming here.
Food was really bad tonight. We have been here many many times and food is going gradually downhill. Paul Martin offer Primerib Steak on Sunday dinners. Primerib was sooooo bad and almost not edible. It looks like they recooked it by warming it. Ordered Med-rate but the steak came in medium well. Really chewy and difficult to cut or eat.
Valentines week menu was beyond great. The waiter took very good care of us, and everyone was friendly. Much better experience than we had a year ago. We will be back!
Paul Martins used to be my favorite restaurant and I would go there at least once a month. I hadn’t been there in a while and I decided to take my man there for his 40th. I was super disappointed with the quality of the food. Instead of hand made tortillas they now have store bought, instead of hand made bread like they used to, it’s now store bought:(. The meat was ok, but when asking for a medium rare steak and only half of it is medium rare, the rest is well done is disappointing . Service wise the people were nice but for some reason could not get us bread. So we asked for fruit instead and that didn’t come till our meal did and we got charged extra for the fruit not being told they were going to charge for it. At the end we were still a little hungry but not enough to order another dish, so I asked for the bread, and they gave me a loaf of burnt toast. I was super embarrassed to take my man there. It was about the same price as a decent steak house for the bill, so I will definitely being doing that instead next time. The reason I’m so bummed is I really used to love this place and told everyone to go there, now I won’t go back.
This was our fourth time here. First time was impressive with the Sunday prime rib special. Second time was for their Monday special which was good value. We came here with friends for their Monday night special again. There are now too many restrictions, to be called a special. I wouldn’t do their Monday night special again. Service was a bit lacking, very slow and place wasn’t busy.
Have been here numerous times before but haven’t since their menu changed. Sorry but food was way over priced for slow service and food wasn’t as great as what it use to be. Can’t say I’ll be back or recommend anymore
service extremely slow, but very friendly. This is the third time food was a BIG disappointment. My shrimp lemon pasta, had so much lemon , I almost couldn't eat it. Way too noise for a nice meal out!
Only good for bar service and appetizers in my opinion.
Good food. Great service. Kind of pricey for lunch but worth it.
We had a very nice lunch.
Great service, atmosphere, noise level are perfect, happy hour's menu worth the money!!!
We had a reservation. They overbooked and couldn't honor the reservation. Not even an apology- just told we could eat outside (cold) or wait 40 minutes (no chairs or waiting area). We left.
Strange that the beef, which was fabulous I taste and texture, was cold...
I booked a reservation 2 weeks in advance for noon. When my team of 7 arrived their table was not ready. They had to wait 20 minutes for staff to push tables together and set. That was a very disappointing experience for them as many had traveled in from other states.
Enjoyed the Monday wine dinner specials.
TOO NOISEY THEREFORE "ENERGETIC" NOT BE GOOD

The food was delish but our service was a bit slow when the place was not crowded. Great ambiance and nicely decorated.
Have been coming here from the day they opened - quality and service have declined. Have mentioned it to them many times.
We have been coming to PM since their opening and we considered them our go to restaurant. But I must say that Saturday night was very disappointing. New menu, higher prices and lower quality of food. If you are going to offer chicken tenders for a child make sure they aren’t too spicy that they can’t eat them. Everything from the fish tacos to the brick chicken was sub-par for PM. It will be sometime before we return and that is very unfortunate.
The food/grill is clearly mediocre at a price point roughly comparable with Sundance Steak House, which is consistently excellent. Service is the biggest problem. More than once, the host stand has had folks chatting to one another appearing disinterested in patrons. Servers have little understanding of the menu items and the wine list is a mystery. The only thing Paul Martin's has going for it that is special is that it's easy to get to and park. Whoever runs the service team must be a relative of the owner.
Surprisingly good. Had the Chicken Winter bow, very hot, flavorful, great veggies. Was there for business and will go back next trip.
