Food here is always great. Bartenders are best in Orange County.
We had a delightful dining experience at Paul Martin's. The food and service were excellent. My husband shared that this was the best hamburger he had ever eaten.
Did restaurant week menu. Amazing value and great food!
My friend and I decided to try this restaurant during Orange County Restaurant week. We were excited about the menu and thought it was a great opportunity to try a local restaurant. I don't know why Paul Martin's participates in OC Restaurant Week since the server seemed very annoyed when we had to ask to see the special menu created for the event. All of a sudden her demeanor changed and we did not feel welcome and while the food was good the snobbish attitude was not appreciated. I think this will be the first and last time we will visit Paul Martin's American Grill. My friend and I have enjoyed trying many restaurants during Restaurant week and have always been welcomed maybe something Paul Martin's needs to work on.
The service was slow, and the food was cold, and way overpriced for the quality. Will not be returning.
Went for the set menu for the OC restaurant week. I had the shory rib entree and my husband had the fish. Don't know why but the short rib was way too salty and his fish the same. I had a few bites of the short rib and couldn't eat it. I took it home to make it into a stew later to dilute all the salt. Dessert was really really good. I got the chocolate cake. The slice was HUGE!! Ate only 1/2. But yummy. Overall i give it 3 stars. If the entrees were alot less salty, would have been a 4 to 5 star rating. I'll give the restaurant another try for their regular menu later.
I love the new redeisgn. I was here for Valentine's Day and thought they made the greatest crab cake ever. Apparently, it is not a regular menu item.
The restaurant only had one bus boy for the entire restaurant this evening which made for really poor service. Our waitress was the sweetest girl ever even though she was pushed to the limit. They have been understaffed the last two times I was there.
The food is good. I love the butter lettuce salad and the shrimp cocktail was very tasty as well.
portion size of halibut was ridiculous....size of a package of playing cards..Also was highly blackened and seasoned...no mention on menu...
Burnt food, crowded, flavorless.
Seating Arrangements are terrible.
Went to Paul Martins for dinner with friends. It was perfect. The service was great. We had the artichoke for an appetizer which was excellent. I will definitely be going back.
The food was very salty which never happens but the manager was very accommodating.
Love the food and service. A real dining experience.
Behind the sweeping wall of wine bottles adjacent to the bar waited a private area with seating for 12, affording an intimate setting for our party of 8 celebrating the Lunar New Year, our first celebration bridging two families. Our server, Jake, warmly greeted us and took all our orders and special requests with efficiency and aplomb. The majority of us had the Sunday prime rib special menu with fried calamari, fried shrimp and smoked salmon appetizers. All were cooked to perfection and artfully presented. The entire dining experience was even more memorable due chiefly to the attentiveness, polish and buoyant personality of Jake. Mouth-watering food, superb service. We look forward to returning soon.
Had to wait almost a half hour even with open table reservation. They tried to put us outside on a cool night. We had to get the manager to change. Overall not on top of the details.
What happened?! I’ve had great experiences here before but this past time, the food was very mediocre. The wagyu strip steak was tough and I got some dried out potatoes as opposed to the whiskey sweet potatoes noted on the menu. My sons got the blackened ribeye, which was always amazing before but this time, very bland. For the price? I expect much better! They had recently done a remodel - does this mean the food had to suffer? Are they under new ownership now? Such a bummer. But I will say the service was friendly, cocktails were good, they still serve that awesome bread and the coffee and carrot cake were delicious! I sure miss their banana creme pie though... they need to take the dry chocolate cake off their menu and put the pie back!
I am a big fan of Paul Martin’s. The ambiance is attractive and casual. The service is always great - attentive, not overbearing. I’ve never had a bad meal there. The menu changed recently — all great selections. The Quinoa bowl with salmon (added) was fantastic.
We dined at Paul Martin to take advantage of the Monday 3 course with wine special. It's a great deal, and the menu and wine choices are extensive. We've taken advantage of Monday night special several times with friends and families. On this occasion we celebrated my cousin's birthday. There were three couples altogether. Hunter, our server, was professional, friendly and efficient. On the negative side, it was a chilly and windy evening. We were seated near the doors to the patio, and the doors were kept open. So we felt the cold wind which made us uncomfortable. I asked to be moved to a table away from the patio and a male front staff said he would close the doors to the patio. He told us that all the tables were reserved but the restaurant was only half full when we were seated at 5:30 p.m. He was unyielding. Whenever a someone went outside to the patio, we felt the cold wind and the doors remained open. Therefore, I asked to be moved again. This time I asked a female front staff and she acquiesced. I was very disappointed by the way the male front staff responded to my request to be moved since there many empty tables available. Thankfully, Hunter, our server was warm and gracious so we had a wonderful evening.
Good food stupidly expensive almost like they’re trying to be more upscale by being costly. I live in nyc so 18 buck a glass is not unusual but in nyc you get far better wine for that price.
The steak was very nice quality the potatoes were cold I should have sent them back but every side dish was room temperature while they should have been much hotter. All in all though I actually like the ambiance and the staff is very nice
their new decor was beautiful - service was very slow because they were too busy on a Sunday early evening - some of the staff were huffy to us about the slow service
Had some great food and wine. They thought we waited too long for our appetizer and gave it to us free, even though we had no idea that it was a long time. Thanks for looking out for your guests so well!
I had a reservation for 5:00pm. When my family (+ 3 children - ages 10; 12; 14) arrived at this time, the hostess said she went to check on our table. She went back and forth a couple of times, and had brief discussions with one of the managers. We waited for around 10-12 minutes, and I was puzzled because I already had a reservations. We were eventually seated, but we didn't like the table that was located in a busy area with lots of walking traffic from both waiters and also customers , so we requested another table. The hostess accommodated us, and it was much nicer and in a less "busy" area. I was a little bothered at first because I got the impression that the delay was due to our hostess/manager deciding to change our table location. I could be wrong, but that is how I felt.
The food was good, but nothing impressive to tell all my friends about. We visited for during the Christmas season of 2016, and I thought the food was better before. We were also celebrating my wife's birthday, and overall we had a nice time.
My husband and I planned a belated Valentines and we were NOT dissapointed . Great staff
The short ribs and brick chicken were excellent. As always the food and drinks were very tasty. Was disappointed in our table crammed between two other tables, it was very awkwardly close to both other parties especially for a date. The s’mores sundae was insultingly small, we should have sent it back. I’ve never seen such a small scoop of ice cream, if you could call a scoop. It’s a $9 ice cream sundae - it should have been a decent sized dessert considering it’s mostly ice cream.
It was our first time eating at Paul Martins and we were pleasantly surprised. The salt and pepper shrimp was delicious. We asked to have a few different sauces. I loved the cocktail sauce and my husband loved the chili aioli. The quinoa bowl looked delicious, and They were able to accommodate my request to have salmon instead of chicken for a small extra charge. It was amazing. The best blistered tomatoes I've ever had! The salmon and veggies were perfectly cooked. My husband had the ribs and fries and he was not disappointed either. Great service and nice ambiance. We will definitely go back and we are happy to have another go to restaurant for date night.
Every time I visit this location I have nothing buy a positive experience, I always leave happy. I will definitely be returning soon as my mouth is already watering for another Rib Eye Steak!!!
Our server was awesome and the food was excellent. The restaurant has a great vibe and well decorated.
Best crab cake ever! The wait service was a bit slow but kind. The host/hostesses were so welcoming.
The filet was amazing and my wife really enjoyed the Asian salad. She also had the best mojito she’s had in a long time. But the chocolate cake was WOW!
Busy Valentine’s Day May have been the reason for the slow service, pricey but expected for the Spectrum, will definitely return.
The food tasted amazing, we had crab cakes, the Red fish, Steak (although this was nice it was just a piece of steak on a plate with 4 x pieces of sweet potato) it tasted great but looked a little boring
The service was terrible, really let the meal down, 20 minutes for a bottle of corona when there were 3 x tables in the restaurant is rather pathetic, and our kids meal which we ordered as soon as we sat down came out after our appetizers and was the last main meal to be bought to the table.
Id probably go again during the happy hour to give it another go but definitely not for an occasion meal again.
Great happy hour!
Bottom line is I understand that nothing I write will make any difference in the big picture. However I still feel that something should be said.
Paul Martin management: $40 steak choices... really??
Where is the ocean and/or the glorious view?
What on earth justifies that you can get that price?
A nice ambience and overall fun restaurant. However, the food is not quite up to par with other good restaurants. For example, when you order filet mignon, it does not come with any house made sauce - you get A1 sauce instead! We had a large group of 16 for a birthday celebration and we had only one waitress helping, who was also serving a few other tables! So the service was inadequate. I mainly recommend the restaurant for its ambience alone - so a good place for drinks and appetizers with friends.
Food was excellent, but we were seated r at a table that nearly butted up against the diners next to us. That felt a bit like dining at a Denny’s booth.
Steaks are a bit pricey, as they only include one side dish, but all entrees were delicious.
Food and service was great!
Great service and food as always! Love the shrimp salad.
Our steak was medium when we requested well done. They rectified the situation.
The food and service are first rate. they recently reconfigured the dining room seating, eliminating many booths, so now it's less cozy feeling but still and excellent restaurant. Delicious appetizers and great happy hour.
We normally would rate this place much higher, which is why we chose Paul Martin’s but on this particular occasion we were sat next to the kitchen extremely noisy) the salad came out without the requested salmon, and the waiter was actually argumentative about why, and everyone mentioned how extremely salty the food tasted. It was an attorney luncheon that was quite important to us, so it was a little disappointing.
The food was fabulous. I knew nothing about this until my son recommended it. Now we can't wait to go back.
Lemon drop martini was outstanding at Happy Hour, which runs till 7:00.
