I loved the burger, and will only eat that from the menu, it was awesome.
Great restaurant excellent service! We had the salmon tocos and salmon dinner both where great!
I always enjoy going to Paul Martin's, especially when Andrew is our server. He is a blast, love his company & entertainment. 👍
I had a large party and we had one waitress she was very nice and good in terms of service. Food and drinks were great.. we were seated in a separate area which felt very private for me and my customers. This will be a place that we will come back too.
Great food and service!
Got good poisoning from the one oyster I ate. My friend got good poisoning from the other oyster on the seafood sampler. Short rib was tasteless except for the salty sauce on the top. Service and ambience was nice. Food is just average for the price.
Been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. Unfortunately my date and I were disappointed. Granted it was Easter evening. The place was not really very busy. We were seated right away and then from that point on waited too long for everything. There is no complimentary bread. That would have been fine if we did not wait so long for someone to show up. They seemed short handed and we got the new waitress. Poor girl was dropping things all over the restaurant. She was nervous. I get it. I saw a table of 4 just get up and leave. The place was also a bit chilly but I resisted putting my jacket back on. I hate wearing a jacket in a restaurant. The biggest disappointment was the food especially considering the prices. I have had better food and service at outback at half the price. It was not clear to me that the three course prime rib was three separate charges. If I had known I would have ordered just the prime rib and not the underwhelming $5 plate of lettuce or the $5 single scoop of ice cream. The prime rib was tough and unevenly cook. I had to ask for au jus. I ordered the pistachio scoop of ice cream and got chocolate. We did not even complain. We ate it and left. The amount of food was small. The main plate seemed empty. My date finished the meal and that seldom ever happens. I think it was due to the small portions and the extra incentive that our meals were costing us $50 each. I am generally very forgiving to the servers. I would have been ok if the food was anywhere close to the level required by the prices.
Unfortunately this was not Paul Martin’s best performance. We were here for a 6:45 pm reservation as two of us in the party had to get up earlier than normal the next day. Medium level of patrons. Not overwhelming.
Three of the four of us had steak. All that the ribeye. Unfortunately all four steaks were served cold as well as the mashed potatoes and spinach. The Mac and cheese was hot.
Hard to make up for forgetting the food somewhere (apparently). They did knock off 3 sides so the dinner was only $180 instead of $280, but honestly none of us even hate half of the meal. Cold meat and potatoes just isn’t very good.
My wife’s comment when we were in the car...”we just handed them $200...and now we have to go home and eat....”
Pretty much sums it up.
Next time we go to Mastros...
Always a GREAT meal and good service 👍
The restaurant is great place to get together.
The restuarant itself had a nice atmosphere. We were there for Easter Brunch and they didn't have a certain item on their brunch menu when we got there. It was disappointing to my husband. Plus, for what we got, the price for brunch was expensive.
The inside of restuarant was cold too.
Food was yummy and ambiance was nice. Service was very friendly. I’ll be back!
Easter brunch
Love the ambience at Paul Martin's. The menu is always creative and delicious. The service impeccable. Love going to the restaurant for Happy Hour and dinner, even when it isn't a special occasion.
Today was my first time in the dozens of times that I’ve been to Paul Martins where my experience wasn’t so pleasant . Had a reservation at 10 and got seated 10 minutes later as others who didn’t have reservations got seated before . They stated because our party was 4 now and not 5. This was Easter brunch so they had a prefix menu . The bread and cocktails were great but our food took a long time . The food good, but was cold . Our server did apologize and gave us a 10 Dollar gift card but I had told my guests about how I enjoyed coming here but they didn’t really like the experience .
The Monte Cristo sandwich was great but would rather have sweet jam with it than fig. Our waiter was wonderful and I wish I had asked his name so we could get him again.
Waited 20 min past reservation time. When I asked for the booth that was open next to our table they said it was 'reserved'. Reserved for someone that was 'late' as we were on time for our reservation. Server was nice. Food was ok.
Great service (Katie). Had reservation through Opentable, but they were overbooked and did not have a table. They did set a private room with smaller tables and took us there. Waited about 30 minutes.
Our food was cold and the service was poor
Service was great and food was terrific.
Better ambiance than other places at Spectrum
Will be there again and recommend to others
We LOVED our experience and food! Amazing!
And the service was outstanding. From hostess to waitress.
Thank you!
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Not sure how they do it but the noise level was somehow muted so we could actually have a nice conversation without having to yell at each other like at other places. Service was very good/ friendly. The food was very good but very very salty, evidenced by night sweats and swollen fingers the morning after. Fixing that would make this place a gem. Another downside, but not the restaurant's fault, is the construction going on in the Spectrum Center. Why are those nuts at Irvine Company always ripping stuff up; can't they do it right the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time? That alone turns me away from that place.
St. Paddy’s Day with the friends! Great service and good food!
Food here is always great. Bartenders are best in Orange County.
We had a delightful dining experience at Paul Martin's. The food and service were excellent. My husband shared that this was the best hamburger he had ever eaten.
Did restaurant week menu. Amazing value and great food!
My friend and I decided to try this restaurant during Orange County Restaurant week. We were excited about the menu and thought it was a great opportunity to try a local restaurant. I don't know why Paul Martin's participates in OC Restaurant Week since the server seemed very annoyed when we had to ask to see the special menu created for the event. All of a sudden her demeanor changed and we did not feel welcome and while the food was good the snobbish attitude was not appreciated. I think this will be the first and last time we will visit Paul Martin's American Grill. My friend and I have enjoyed trying many restaurants during Restaurant week and have always been welcomed maybe something Paul Martin's needs to work on.
The service was slow, and the food was cold, and way overpriced for the quality. Will not be returning.
Went for the set menu for the OC restaurant week. I had the shory rib entree and my husband had the fish. Don't know why but the short rib was way too salty and his fish the same. I had a few bites of the short rib and couldn't eat it. I took it home to make it into a stew later to dilute all the salt. Dessert was really really good. I got the chocolate cake. The slice was HUGE!! Ate only 1/2. But yummy. Overall i give it 3 stars. If the entrees were alot less salty, would have been a 4 to 5 star rating. I'll give the restaurant another try for their regular menu later.
I love the new redeisgn. I was here for Valentine's Day and thought they made the greatest crab cake ever. Apparently, it is not a regular menu item.
The restaurant only had one bus boy for the entire restaurant this evening which made for really poor service. Our waitress was the sweetest girl ever even though she was pushed to the limit. They have been understaffed the last two times I was there.
The food is good. I love the butter lettuce salad and the shrimp cocktail was very tasty as well.
portion size of halibut was ridiculous....size of a package of playing cards..Also was highly blackened and seasoned...no mention on menu...
Burnt food, crowded, flavorless.
Seating Arrangements are terrible.
Went to Paul Martins for dinner with friends. It was perfect. The service was great. We had the artichoke for an appetizer which was excellent. I will definitely be going back.
The food was very salty which never happens but the manager was very accommodating.
Love the food and service. A real dining experience.
Behind the sweeping wall of wine bottles adjacent to the bar waited a private area with seating for 12, affording an intimate setting for our party of 8 celebrating the Lunar New Year, our first celebration bridging two families. Our server, Jake, warmly greeted us and took all our orders and special requests with efficiency and aplomb. The majority of us had the Sunday prime rib special menu with fried calamari, fried shrimp and smoked salmon appetizers. All were cooked to perfection and artfully presented. The entire dining experience was even more memorable due chiefly to the attentiveness, polish and buoyant personality of Jake. Mouth-watering food, superb service. We look forward to returning soon.
Had to wait almost a half hour even with open table reservation. They tried to put us outside on a cool night. We had to get the manager to change. Overall not on top of the details.
What happened?! I’ve had great experiences here before but this past time, the food was very mediocre. The wagyu strip steak was tough and I got some dried out potatoes as opposed to the whiskey sweet potatoes noted on the menu. My sons got the blackened ribeye, which was always amazing before but this time, very bland. For the price? I expect much better! They had recently done a remodel - does this mean the food had to suffer? Are they under new ownership now? Such a bummer. But I will say the service was friendly, cocktails were good, they still serve that awesome bread and the coffee and carrot cake were delicious! I sure miss their banana creme pie though... they need to take the dry chocolate cake off their menu and put the pie back!
I am a big fan of Paul Martin’s. The ambiance is attractive and casual. The service is always great - attentive, not overbearing. I’ve never had a bad meal there. The menu changed recently — all great selections. The Quinoa bowl with salmon (added) was fantastic.
We dined at Paul Martin to take advantage of the Monday 3 course with wine special. It's a great deal, and the menu and wine choices are extensive. We've taken advantage of Monday night special several times with friends and families. On this occasion we celebrated my cousin's birthday. There were three couples altogether. Hunter, our server, was professional, friendly and efficient. On the negative side, it was a chilly and windy evening. We were seated near the doors to the patio, and the doors were kept open. So we felt the cold wind which made us uncomfortable. I asked to be moved to a table away from the patio and a male front staff said he would close the doors to the patio. He told us that all the tables were reserved but the restaurant was only half full when we were seated at 5:30 p.m. He was unyielding. Whenever a someone went outside to the patio, we felt the cold wind and the doors remained open. Therefore, I asked to be moved again. This time I asked a female front staff and she acquiesced. I was very disappointed by the way the male front staff responded to my request to be moved since there many empty tables available. Thankfully, Hunter, our server was warm and gracious so we had a wonderful evening.
Good food stupidly expensive almost like they’re trying to be more upscale by being costly. I live in nyc so 18 buck a glass is not unusual but in nyc you get far better wine for that price.
The steak was very nice quality the potatoes were cold I should have sent them back but every side dish was room temperature while they should have been much hotter. All in all though I actually like the ambiance and the staff is very nice
