Paul Martin's American Grill - Irvine Ratings and Reviews
First of all we waited more than 20 minutes to be seated despite our confirmed reservation. Then the waitress came 20 minutes later while we waited with 3 kids. We ordered food for kids first but they came after another 20 minutes mentioning the food was not available. The food came very late. The service was really bad....
Food was very good as always, but service had an off night. No water for 10 minutes, bread 20 minutes after that. Drinks took 15 - 20 minutes to arrive and glasses stayed empty, then food took over 30 minutes to arrive as well.
I've been here too many times and know this was an aberration, but it was disappointing.
PM's is a nice place. But getting VERY expensive. Their Happy Hour prices are quite high. And as for dinner, with a couple of glasses of wine each, an appetizer, and some plank Salmon, you can run up over a $170 bill. That's getting up into Fleming's territory, and this isn't Flemings.
Was seated for more than 20 minutes before a waiter approached our table, and then only after asking the hostess to get someone. Food was very good, but my steak salad came without the steak. Again, it was difficult to get a server ‘s attention. By the time I got the steak, others at the table were finished. Never an apology. Never an attempt to make it right. Never a visit from the manager. The meal would have been comped at a well run establishment.
We had booked reservations for New Years Eve but were late to our seating. We were informed that after 15 minutes they had to give our table away, which was quite understandable. They were completely booked but told us we could sit at the bar area where there was open seating, which we did. We were served promptly and efficiently by Nathan, one of the bartenders. We shared a Cajun rib eye steak which was excellently prepared and tasted wonderful. Nathan recommended the banana cream pie for desert and glad we did as it tasted great and fresh.
We dine at PMG at least once a month. We are rarely disappointed with the food & service, but on this occasion some chef went "jolly" with the salt [which we never use]. Everyone's meal was too salty, none of us could finish our food. The manager offered to bring us new servings, but we were done. The manager graciously took care of the entire dinner cost for us while apologizing for the salty suppers. FIRST CLASS service...especially when there's a problem...it will be handled...nice.
That's another reason we keep returning and recommending PMG to all our friends and family.
Was expecting a little more elegant given the price. Food was so so. Ordered the prime rib medium rare and didn’t see a bit of pink on or in it. Meat was tough. Mashed potatoes were great though. Waitress was really nice and helpful. Just didn’t think the value for the money was there.
We were 6 people, however, the table was not large enough to accomodate all of us. If we were 6 business people, it would have been very uncomfortable. Since we were 3 couples, rubbing knees was not too much of an issue. The manager was very nice and appoligized for the inadaquate table and bought us appetizers. Overall the food was good, service was good, free corkage and we all left with a smil.
I have been to Paul Martin's American Grill several times and it's always very good. This last time we ordered the Seafood Platter and it was great! The shrimp and Dungeness Crab was outstanding!! Very fresh!! I had no idea I'd love this kind of crab. We also had the Dungeness Crab Cakes and they were very good. I especially liked the sauce as it was so flavorful and spicy too!
We are looking forward to going back soon.
Unfortunately, we must have hit an off night. The food was unbearably salty (and I like salt on my food!). The manager agreed and was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We all were able to get new dishes, as well as free desserts, but I'm afraid I can't get the taste of salt out of my mouth. Nothing should be sent out of the kitchen without knowing how it tastes! I've always liked this restaurant and the Monday special is a deal . I will give it another try.
This was our first time there to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Our server, Andrew, was great but the little amount of food for the price was not good. We spent over $100 for a fried chicken dinner and small amount of skirt steak. No bread or salad cans with our meals. Too bad.
Like the new look of the restaurant. Food always tastes good with distinct flavors. Service in general is good but the fries always come out cold the first time and when you request no bread on burger what is so hard? We do go twice a month and worth going back.
The food tasted great. I got the pacific redfish which had Cajun spices. I don’t like my fish to taste “fishy” and it didn’t! It was perfectly cooked that it melted in my mouth! Another awesome dish was the salted pepper shrimp appetizer. It was a big size shrimp and the taste was delicious! Pastrami sandwich was good too but the hubby said he’d like a softer bread. The skirt steak my
Father in law got was “tasty”. And they have a couple vegan options which made my mother in law happy too! Will come back when I’m back in town
Our experience at the Founders' Selects Review Tasting was PHENOMENAL! The service was excellent [especially Katie] and the host/sommelier was eloquent and informative. The food was sublime and the wines were superb as always at PMG. Let's get some full wine dinners happening soon!
IF you would like any suggestions for how to structure the wine dinners [from one who has attended hundreds over the last three decades], I would be happy to offer my input.
First, they were “out”of 2 of the beers that my husband tried to order.
Second, they brought the wrong order to us. My husband ordered a ribeye and he was brought a pork chop. I ordered the quinoa salad w/grilled salmon but they brought me quinoa salad w/shrimp. We were starving and I actually like shrimp so thought that it was not a big deal but as I had my fork into the shrimp and about to cut it up the waitress came over and told us that we were given the wrong order and took our food away. We had to wait an additional 15 min to receive the correct food. The manager did come over and “apologize” but it was disappointing non the less.
