My friend called at the last minute to see about getting dinner and I found this restaurant was between us. My friend doesn't eat meat, but does eat fish, so we both opted for the fish tacos. They were really delicious. My cocktails were tasty and my friend's beer was very good as well. We happened to come at a time when a very large table had been set up in the middle, so it was a little loud, but not bad. I imagine it's pretty quiet most nights. The service was good, but the big table did keep the waiter busy. I would definitely go again.
Had the braised short ribs and they were out of this world. Valet parking kind of far away from the front door. It was nice being able to hear the people at my table talk.
Best service we've had in several years. Paul Martin's has always been our local go-to place for a consistently good meal, and a good glass of wine. However, service has been declining for some time. Not tonight! The service was terrific, and the restaurant was full and humming. Terrific!
The chicken skewers were very dry and cold. The sauce that came with it was tasteless as well
Great all our experience. Food, service and company!
I honestly though the food quality and taste was oustanding. However, the value/price for what we had was definitely not. Dollar for dollar, i think there are much better options nearby. Entrees are overpriced and under-portioned. I had the Halibut and it literally came with 6 shrunken spears of asparagus. Not to mention the Halibut itself was maybe 4 oz or less. The desert felt like half a scoop of ice cream and an oversized marshmallow to make up for it. I mean ice cream is pretty inexpensive right? Again, not to bash them, the food taste was outstanding but in all honesty, not worth the price.
Hello. We use to come here every month but on the last 3 occasions we were not treated well by the reservation supervisor.
We had a booth reserved three times in the bar via open table and on these 3 times our reserved table sign was removed and younger people were aloud to sit there. These 3 booths are for dine in only yet they violated their policy
This is disgraceful PR.. Paul Martin and their treatment of people over 40 has really declined.
Other waiters and another manager encouraged me to call corporate office and the managing partner. I was given both phone numbers
Nice surprise. I pass this place all the time and wonder what it's like. It's sits on the street but it's pretty private and I was surprised at how big it actually was. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was good I would definitely go back. the wine list was good too, want to check out their Wine Wed!! Great for groups on the enclosed patio or back area. It may get a bit noisy when it's packed but I;m fine with a good buzz! Great deal,, everything was seasoned well (as my 83 year old pops likes to say! ) :)
Everything was excellent. This is one of my favorite spots in the South Bay. Great food and wine and atmosphere.
Dinner with parents and significant other
The service was impeccable but the food didn't quite measure up. We ordered the flank steak and had to return it as it was too tough. We were given filet mignon at the same price and we received a dessert as compensation which was great. It was a birthday luncheon after all. The filet was good but the meal was not inspiring. The coffee was wonderful though. Loved the ambiance. Not sure I would return.
Great meal - consistent and enjoyable every time.
Everything was great...really enjoyed the appetizers and main course...we asked our waiter to pair a great wine to our meal...he nailed it!
The food is excellent. Service is rather slow.
I love this place. I've been to multiple locations and have not had a bad experience.
This experience was awesom. The service was great the food was wonderful our server was very nice.
I enjoyed my first visit and will be back!
Best service in a long time! This is one of our favorite places to go, but the service has not been very good the last couple times we’ve gone. This time was great! The restaurant was busier than usual but despite the crowd, service was great. Food always excellent.
I was hungry for a Steak so we thought we would try Paul Martin's New Mesquite Menu.
I ordered the Bone In Rib Eye and it was incredible!
Looking forward to going back and hoping nothing changes with the Menu or the food quality
I went for a business meal. It had excellent food and service. I will go back again.
Service was excellent. Waiter for knowledgeable and friendly. Answered questions and offered suggestions in a non-judgmental manner. Food presentation was delightful
Been going to Paul Martin's for the last few years for Valentine's Day. The food and service used to be great, but now just pretty average. Maybe temporary help during during special occasions when the place is heavily booked??? The food ( braised short rib, fish)was overcooked - probably fired too early, and sitting in the window too long.
The meal was filling, but there is a big difference between filet mignon and London broil...
Birthday dinner for my mom.
My wife and I had a pretty romantic Valentine’s Day Date Night at Paul Martin’s Grill. The food was good, the service too and their hosts are very friendly.
Paul Martin made our Valentines Day absolutely perfect. Gracious staff, extraordinary food, delightful atmosphere. 100 out of 10!
It was Valentine's Day and we got our table as soon as we arrived. Michael was our waiter and was amazing. He took wonderful care of us. The food was over the top. Everything was so fresh
and flavorful. You can tell that it came straight from the kitchen to our table. Loved our night...
Thank you Michael for helping to make it so special.
We were definitely return. Recommend the Ahi tuna
This experience was amazing partly because it was Valentines Day. The staff was amazing and the service was very good. I enjoyed my meal (Surf & Turf) and the cocktails were very good. This was my 3rd time eating at this restaurant and ii can’t wait to go back.. Wish they had entertainment as that would be the Hot Spot to be at. Five Stars in my book.
I don’t ever anticipate going back to this restaurant ever again. They brought out our appetizers and sides very well. We ordered bone in ribeyes each for our dinner. Either they gave our steaks to a friend who ordered cheaper cuts and thought we wouldn’t notice getting the cheaper cut or they just sent us the cheap cut to see if they could get away with it I don’t know. We sat there for 25 minutes with our sides getting cold waiting for them to bring us the right steaks. The manager was very nice and comped me the wine and appetizer but I don’t think we’ll ever chance it again. Too many good restaurants around here in L.A. where we don’t have to tolerate such subpar service.
Wouldn't hurt for wait staff to actually write down food n drink order. Sum drinks were missed n not ordered at all.
This restaurant is consistently good, food and service. One of my go to spots for a casual dinner with friends.
We've eaten at Paul Martins several times. It's always good. This time we did the "day before Valentines dinner", due to other commitments. Our server was good but he was overwhelmed. There was a large table with what appeared to be a work group beside us. They became frustrated due to the time it took them to give their order and the time it took for the food to arrive. Plus they were quiet noisy, I think due to just the size of the group. Our server was doing the best he could. It seemed as though they were short on help in the restaurant and in the kitchen. This was a no rush dinner for us, so we took it all in stride. The food was outstanding, as always. Our server was courteous and personable even with the number of people he was expected to wait on. I saw several people sit at the bar, have drinks and dinner, and leave before we were even close to being finished. I will go back but maybe not on or near, a Valentines type holiday.
Only a competent and motivated manager kept my service rating of this restaurant from being a -0-. He was the only bright spot of the wait staff experience. Difficult to hot food and a hot plate at the same time. Tough Wagyu beef? Perhaps the chilly indoor temperature was the reason for the painfully slow and inanimate service.
Food and Service was great, our only problem was that they did not have our reservation and blamed it on Open Table! I have used Open Table for a while now and it was the first time that had ever happened...so I am not sure what the glitch was...but thought you would want to know. thanks!
We had a reservation for five. Four of us showed up and were taken to our table. Fifth person showed up and was told there was no reservation under our reservation name. Fifth person went to his car, found the printed reservation and brought it back to the restaurant. They realized their mistake and fifth person arrived at table about 10 minutes late instead of on time.
Service was just fair...very slow. Two of the drinks needed additional mixer and it took 15 minutes to get some help. Ordered olives with my cocktail and received a lime. The server broke my glass while putting down a plate. Eventually received a new drink w/o any garnish.
Prices were about 20% higher than previously experienced at restaurant. Salad prices very high for a very small portion.
Overall, this restaurant used to be an upbeat dining experience at a reasonable cost, now its neither. Would not recommend to others.
Not very good service. Food was good. Probably won't go back.
We were greeted warmly, asked for a quiet table, and a perfect booth was found. The staff were all positive and very cheerful (It was a birthday dinner with old friends just arrived from Europe.) Food is delicious, a perfect evening.
