Paul Martin's American Grill - El Segundo Ratings and Reviews
Really good meal however...WE can't believe they discontinued the famous Banana Cream Pie!
That's like McDonald's discontinuing their fires. Bad decision by management. We would go there looking forward to the Banana Cream Pie as many of our friends. Please bring it back!
WE came for lunch since it was a birthday luncheon. We asked for them to sing Happy Birthday and asked the hostess when we came in, they did not do this?? We wanted to surprise her so did not wanna bring up in front of server. So we just left the food is good and ambiance is nice!
Disappointed in meal. Ordered Rib eye, medium was served well done. Returned the steak with attitude from waitress. Service very poor, very long wait in everything we ordered, i.e. drinks, 2nd round of drinks. I will dismiss this isolated incident being it was New Years Eve night, however, the restaurant was empty so I feel the staff was in a hurry to close to start their own celebrations. The restaurant is normally very good with excellent service.
We opted for an early dinner at PM on NYE. Unfortunately the majority of the staff must have called out sick. It was the slowest service for drinks and food. I watched as my champagne sweat, getting warm on the counter.
We ordered the salt and pepper shrimp which was good. The Caesar needs a more creamy dressing. Prime rib and short ribs were good.
Fine meal but unfortunately the service was lacking.
We are somewhat regulars at PM, and love the menue selections and always recive top service. However this visit was off. Not the sevice we usually receive. We both had the seasonal special. The food was ok but we didnt think is was up to par and wasnt worth the cost.
I've eaten at this restaurant since it's opening. Over the years, the service quality has significantly diminished. When we dined this past Saturday, the service was slow to nonexistent. The waiter forgot to order/bring both the beverages for the children and a cocktail from the bar; we had to ask a passing waiter to do it. Given my history at Paul Martin's, and my record of highly recommending this restaurant over the years, I and my companions (also frequent diners at this location) were more than surprised at the drastic fall-off in service, attentiveness and attention to guests. I am hoping that this was a one-time experience, as I have come to expect much better service and food/menu quality at this location.
We got to the restaurant close to half hour before closing and they accommodated us. The butternut squash soup was excellent. We also had sole with sweet peas and the blackened red snapper fish with spinach. The waiter was attentive and apologized since the kitchen was closing. The choc cake followed which was good too and what a size. Four of us couldn’t finish it.
Been coming here for years and had been great.
Returned tonite after 3 months n experienced the following.
Staff is neither friendly nor attentive. Food remains great.
Negative experience began with the girl at the front.
No greeting no smile.
Sat us at a table we requested.
15 minutes later no one came to the table.
I flagged down someone staff member passing by whom said he would look for whom was handling our table, Deilond S.
He ended up taking care of our party of 4 and was great after that.
Appears service at Restaurant starting at the front is not what it was 3 months ago.
There is still an least one great waiter left, Deilond J.
Recommend u request him.
Will not be returning based on tonite's initial experience.
My question after reading the recent negative reviews, is the restaurant under New management?
The cocktails were delicious as usual and I finally got to try the Sunday prime rib special. It was very good! Unfortunately, my daughter ordered the Shrimp Linguine which I think should have been sent back. The shrimp was overcooked and there was so much garlic used that the dish ended up rather spicy. I asked her why she didn't mention it sooner, but she said it was edible and thought she was far too picky about the way she likes her shrimp cooked.
Great food - horrible service
- waited almost 10 mins until a wait help person came and basically took our order & took care of us while the actual waiter did one refill & brought us our check. When we arrived, they didn’t seem to even have a reservation- if booking with open table gets you the worse table in the place with the worst service- I may stop using this app.
Highly recommend the butternut squash soup. We enjoyed our grilled skirt steak with roasted sweet potatoes. The wine was special though pricey by the glass. They know how to make a proper macchiato. Parking is readily available and also valet service. Great location on Rosecrans.
It took us over an hour and a half to get our table. The manager was really nice to get us drinks, but it still took way too long to get seated. I wish our holiday experience was as good as I thought it would be, but instead it was mediocre. If they would’ve valued our reservation the experience would’ve been great. I hope they take this review to heart and know exactly the amount of guests they have coming especially on a weeknight. The service was unacceptable especially compared to the bill.
I've always enjoyed the Brick Chicken at Paul Martin's but decided to go lighter this time and ordered the Roasted Chicken Salad. It was a big disappointment. The chicken was "mushy", and there was little else in the salad besides shredded cabbage. The peanut vinaigrette is the only part of that dish with any flavor. The bread was good and the service was okay.
We were nervous about the noise level because they sat us at a booth near the bar. We were pleasantly surprised that the noise was easily dismissed because the service was phenomenal. We had just the right amount of attention and great meal and dessert recommendations. We have a lovely evening.
We haven't been here in a long time ever since they raised the prices on their Monday night dinner and wine for 2. It used to be $50 and included some steak dishes, a bottle of good wine and two salads. In 2017, they raised it to $60, but if you want steak it is an extra $15 to $30 a person depending on what you order. There are still ribs, chicken, fish ... etc, so, even at $60 its a great deal, but we go for the steak! It was my birthday, so we decided to splurge ... and honestly, it was delicious. I ordered the Filet and my girlfriend ordered the skirt steak, and it was cooked to perfection. Still, it was over $100 before tip, so, definitely not something we will do regularly. We used to go almost every Monday night ... but its not a deal like it used to be. Maybe if there was one steak dinner still on the menu, it would be worth it even with the $10 rise in price!
Good experience overall. Food and service were awesome. It was our end of the week a family dinner (mom, dad, teen) to recap the week so didnt want to sit in bar area, way too loud a party was celebrating something. Next time I will specify. Other than that good.
The braised short ribs were succulent and flavorful. You could cut them with a fork, no knife needed. They seemed to have melted in your mouth. The brussels sprouts were delicious, with bacon bits and vinaigrette dressing. accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes. Would definitely recommend to friends.
A good waiters helps to make a meal enjoyable. Unfortunately our waiter Alex did not. He needs more training. For example we had to ask twice for bread which he finally brought when our meal arrived. We had to ask for steak knives and our guest had to ask for a clean glass for a second glass of wine which was different than the first glass.
I hope he improves.
