Paul Martin's American Grill - El Segundo Ratings and Reviews
Good experience overall. Food and service were awesome. It was our end of the week a family dinner (mom, dad, teen) to recap the week so didnt want to sit in bar area, way too loud a party was celebrating something. Next time I will specify. Other than that good.
A good waiters helps to make a meal enjoyable. Unfortunately our waiter Alex did not. He needs more training. For example we had to ask twice for bread which he finally brought when our meal arrived. We had to ask for steak knives and our guest had to ask for a clean glass for a second glass of wine which was different than the first glass.
I hope he improves.
We had a nice early dinner at the bar here. The happy hour menu is great and the regular menu had lots of great items on it. My husband had the skirt steak and thought it was great! I highly recommend for a place to go and get good quality food with excellent service.
Blackened Pacific Redfish and the Shrimp Linguine were prepared and served very nicely...the Petrale Sole, on the other hand, while it was a very nice piece of fish... it was very dry and relatively tasteless. The Marcona almonds looked like they were scrounged up from the bottom of the barrel.
Our server, was very affable, but tried to upsell us at every turn...from the wine to the entrée....
We've dined at Paul Martin's several times over the years. Their Monday night two-for deals are just one of the reasons we enjoy coming back. They have recently increased the price of the Monday night deal and restricted the items from the menu but still, if you like wine with your meal, it is still a great deal. Give it a try and enjoy!
I’ve always heard good things about this restaurant, we wanted a good steak and decided to try it. We had a reservation for 7:15 on a Friday night and were made to wait until 7:30 for our table while a couple with a 7:30 reservation was seated before us and many tables sat empty. When eventually seated we were placed next to a large party of 20 people. Food was mediocre at best, below average calamari appetizer, good kale Caesar salad, below average and dry steak (we shared the 22 oz. rib eye) and the overall experience was less than mediocre and we would never go back.
This place was recommended to us by a friend. My husband and I were headed to a concert at the Forum and not from the area, so we were looking for a convenient place and nice place. This place was fantastic. Good food, good service!! And close to the forum. It was crowded for a Wednesday night, so we knew it had to be a great place!!! Would definitely go again!!
Everything we ate was perfectly cooked from scratch. This was our second time here. The flavors were vibrant while the presentation delighted. I usually find it easier to critique, but the entire dining experience was flawless. Everything I’ve eaten was the best in its class.
The French onion soup was generous with its flavor and caramelized onions. Finished with a thick slice of melted gruyere. The wild shrimp on the handmade linguini had a light smoky blend of ocean, mesquite I. A lemony garlic wine Irish butter sauce.
The best ribeye. The best short rib. Everything just does a slow dance in your mouth.
One person in my party expected the New York steak to arrive medium. He accepted that it was medium rare, but when he got to the center it was pretty raw. Myself and another guest in our party had the warm quinoa salad and it was amazing! I eat vegan but didn't ask it to be prepared that way so I don't know for sure if that was completely vegan but it was tasty none the less.
Service is always excellent and the ambiance is nice in the dining room. The wine and dinner special on Monday nights is such a good deal and the entrees and salads are fresh and delicious. One of our favorite restaurants and highly recommend it. And they have the best happy hour too.
We had to take family to the airport after dinner so we chose Paul Martins. We had 2 Prime rib dinners, Petrale Sole and a salmon dinner. Everyone really enjoyed their dinner while we caught part of the World Series. And service was top notch. We told the server that we had to leave for the airport so he was quick, efficient and polite. Can't say enough!
I made reservations for four people, requesting a both and indicating it was for a birthday. They called to confirm, wanting to verify that it was for a birthday. When we arrived the hostess walked past two large empty booths and lead us to a small table near the kitchen. We told her we didn’t want to sit there and pointed out one of the empty booths, which she gladly sat us at. Why didn’t she do that in the first place?
There was no mention of the birthday celebration, even though it was obvious we were celebrating a birthday. Why did they want to confirm that it was for a birthday if they had no intention of giving a little dessert to the birthday girl?
Aside from these things we had a very nice meal and the service was good. I just felt they didn’t really care about the reservation requests even though they called to confirm the details.
Just really well executed proteins with simple well flavored sides. Ordered the a la carte prime filet cooked mid rare. Received a mid well prime filet. Ordered the short rib entree. Received a pull apart short rib, jus, and beautiful fluffy mashed potatoes. Fries were spot on. Server, China, was on point, knowledgeable, not pushy, and let us enjoy our evening. I’ll be back fo sure.
The ambiance and food was fine for the occasion - lunch with a colleague. However, we were left unattended to constantly. We arrived at the beginning of the lunch, before the crush and did not see our server for 15 minutes. He constantly forgot about us. I won't return.
We had family visiting from out of state; we had been to Paul Martin's previously to celebrate our anniversary in August; on Monday's, they offer the "Wine and Dine" for two people that includes salad, entree and a bottle of wine for $60.00! They offer bottles of wine that cost $54.00, so you are practically eating for free and the portions are large enough for two meals for each entree! Great value, great service, great food!
