Paul Martin's American Grill - El Segundo Ratings and Reviews
Best service in a long time! This is one of our favorite places to go, but the service has not been very good the last couple times we’ve gone. This time was great! The restaurant was busier than usual but despite the crowd, service was great. Food always excellent.
It was Valentine's Day and we got our table as soon as we arrived. Michael was our waiter and was amazing. He took wonderful care of us. The food was over the top. Everything was so fresh
and flavorful. You can tell that it came straight from the kitchen to our table. Loved our night...
Thank you Michael for helping to make it so special.
This experience was amazing partly because it was Valentines Day. The staff was amazing and the service was very good. I enjoyed my meal (Surf & Turf) and the cocktails were very good. This was my 3rd time eating at this restaurant and ii can’t wait to go back.. Wish they had entertainment as that would be the Hot Spot to be at. Five Stars in my book.
I don’t ever anticipate going back to this restaurant ever again. They brought out our appetizers and sides very well. We ordered bone in ribeyes each for our dinner. Either they gave our steaks to a friend who ordered cheaper cuts and thought we wouldn’t notice getting the cheaper cut or they just sent us the cheap cut to see if they could get away with it I don’t know. We sat there for 25 minutes with our sides getting cold waiting for them to bring us the right steaks. The manager was very nice and comped me the wine and appetizer but I don’t think we’ll ever chance it again. Too many good restaurants around here in L.A. where we don’t have to tolerate such subpar service.
We've eaten at Paul Martins several times. It's always good. This time we did the "day before Valentines dinner", due to other commitments. Our server was good but he was overwhelmed. There was a large table with what appeared to be a work group beside us. They became frustrated due to the time it took them to give their order and the time it took for the food to arrive. Plus they were quiet noisy, I think due to just the size of the group. Our server was doing the best he could. It seemed as though they were short on help in the restaurant and in the kitchen. This was a no rush dinner for us, so we took it all in stride. The food was outstanding, as always. Our server was courteous and personable even with the number of people he was expected to wait on. I saw several people sit at the bar, have drinks and dinner, and leave before we were even close to being finished. I will go back but maybe not on or near, a Valentines type holiday.
Only a competent and motivated manager kept my service rating of this restaurant from being a -0-. He was the only bright spot of the wait staff experience. Difficult to hot food and a hot plate at the same time. Tough Wagyu beef? Perhaps the chilly indoor temperature was the reason for the painfully slow and inanimate service.
Food and Service was great, our only problem was that they did not have our reservation and blamed it on Open Table! I have used Open Table for a while now and it was the first time that had ever happened...so I am not sure what the glitch was...but thought you would want to know. thanks!
We had a reservation for five. Four of us showed up and were taken to our table. Fifth person showed up and was told there was no reservation under our reservation name. Fifth person went to his car, found the printed reservation and brought it back to the restaurant. They realized their mistake and fifth person arrived at table about 10 minutes late instead of on time.
Service was just fair...very slow. Two of the drinks needed additional mixer and it took 15 minutes to get some help. Ordered olives with my cocktail and received a lime. The server broke my glass while putting down a plate. Eventually received a new drink w/o any garnish.
Prices were about 20% higher than previously experienced at restaurant. Salad prices very high for a very small portion.
Overall, this restaurant used to be an upbeat dining experience at a reasonable cost, now its neither. Would not recommend to others.
After having dined here for the past five years, it is disappointing to say that our experience was very mediocre. First, our drinks arrived in different and very small martini glasses and were definitely not up to the usual standards for taste (ie: a lemon drop martini that was bright blue). Our roasted cauliflower side dish was barely cooked and didn’t have any of the lemon and parmigiano topping it was supposed to have. The salmon was almost floating in a plate of spinach sitting in a ton of the jus sauce. We unfortunately were taking our friends out to dinner for one of their birthdays and swore by all these dishes at the restaurant, it was quite embarrassing to say the least.
Although the restaurant was not full we waited over 20 min to be asked for our drink order. The drinks were another 20 to 25 min wait and although we ordered an appetizer it didn’t arrive until after our entrees were served. We weren’t bread until after the waiter took our order. We had to ask for waters.
The food and cocktails were very good but the poor service really devalued the experience. If the place had been super crowded I would understand but we were seated at 6:30 and the restaurant was only half full.
Came here for Dine LA. The available menu had some delicious entree's. Our party of five had 3 of the brick chickens, one of the braised short ribs and one of the shrimp pasta. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The dessert options were very good as well. Really great service as well.
We use to go to Paul Martin all the time. Now after having a child we haven’t been in a while. After our recent visit we found most the items on the menu we loved are no longer on the menu. (Artichoke dip, chimichuri skirtsteak etc). Our salad came out right away and then the dinner took 45 min The bread and butter they serve also is different and was disappointing. We made the reservation for my birthday and noted to them on the reservation it was for a birthday and we would like a booth. When we got there we got a table near the kitchen and no mention of the birthday at all. This use to be our favorite restaurant and we were very disappointed. Not sure if we will go back
I️ asked for bread and the waiter went to the back and cans back and said that they had no more bread due to them closing , so that was fine . However towards the end of my meal he asked me for the desert which was odd because if your closing why would u asks me if I️ wanted desert but u couldn’t bring out any bread?!?? Based of that I’m not coming back. This was my first visit and last
Ive been here for their happy hour. Drinks always great. This time i reserved a table. I had a great time, the salt and pepper shrimps (appetizer) was amazing. My ribeye (bome in) also amazing. Need a little more seasoning but cook correctly and tge sides were great.. the side car and ild fashion always my top drinks.
1. Ordered wine for the table, was given a glass instead. When I said I ordered a bottle, the waitress took my glass and returned with a bottle but I was charged for the glass as well. I didn’t catch it until after we left. 2. The prices were high compared to other similar restaurants. The charcuterie board was way overpriced-not the waitress’ fault 3. Entree was brought while we were only midway through the appetizers. 4. While we were still eating the appetizers and after the entree was brought to the table, they actually touched the appetizer plate assuming that we wouldn’t want to continue eating the appetizer. 5. In the middle of eating our entree the waitress wants to know if we want dessert. This is pet peeve of mine. Wait until we are finished eating so we have time to decide on a dessert or a dessert drink before forcing the issue. Bad or indifferent training. 6. Won’t be returning.
