Paul Martin's American Grill - El Segundo
Reservation was for 9 at 7:15pm. 5 of us arrived at 7pm...we did not get seated until 7:40pm. All the hostess said to us was sorry. Not sorry for seating you so late but just "sorry". No accommodation for seating us late, no acknowledgement whatsoever! Also, I mentioned on the reservation that we were celebrating my birthday. No acknowledgement for my birthday as well. Food was great but the service was horrible. Our waiter did his job but we had to ask for water and anything we needed.
Great service loved the red sangria. Great food for the value.
We found it absolutely stunning they could not honor our reservation. We asked them, "Do you not honor reservations?" The answer was incredible: "It's not that. We overbooked."
Would someone please explain to us what part of "OVERBOOKED" is "NOT HONORING RESERVATIONS"?
We were first time diners and were so pleasantly surprised! Every course beginning with the outstanding Dirty Martini’s and finishing with the delicious Butter Cake was outstanding! Every server and the GM that spent time with us were so friendly, fun and helpful! They guided us on a delectable culinary journey that was absolutely fantastic!!! Highly recommend this place for any occasion! Wish there was one in Orange County, I know they closed the one we had which is disappointing!
Food was perfect
Great food and service. Will visit again.
Beautiful space with excellent menu and well crafted dishes. Slow and un-attentive service. Had 2 servers, and neither tended to our table of 8 often. Dirty dishes left on the table until we left, offered dessert menu after bringing the bill.
Food was good. Server seemed inexperienced. Lights were brighter than usual.
Had a family dinner, first visit.
Overall really good ! Not too pricey given the ambiance and food quality. Definitely recommend it.
It was nice, that is our second time going to paul Martin’s. Just wish we could’ve had a higher booth, need to make sure to ask for that next time.
Steaks were great, halibut was a super small portion and dry, salmon was average. Apps and sides were also undersized. Won’t return
It was NY's eve and I was afraid we would have a limited menu and be rushed out the door, but instead we had great service and the same menu choices. Enjoyed our time there!
We had a reservation but still waited 20-30 mins for our table and were shoved way in the back by the kitchen. My skirt steak was tasty, but the rest of the food was terrible. My arugula tasted like an entire salt shaker was emptied on top of it. The potatoes were huge half-inch thick discs that tasted old and bland. The Brussels sprouts were drowning in a pool of vinegar. The special chocolate mousse dessert was really just cake, no mousse. Our waiter was overly solicitous and awkward; he probably needs more training as to where silverware goes and to make him more comfortable and confident in his role.
The restaurant no longer is the destination it was just a few years ago. Wait staff is seriously lacking training, food was over and under cooked and I’m tired of being offered the worst table in the house (for the third straight visit).
Party of 4 and our first time here. We had a very nice New Year's Eve dinner. We were greeted by our waiter promptly. Cocktails were pricey but good. Warm sourdough bread came quickly. We ordered French Onion soup, house salad, from the special holiday menu: Tomato beet burrata salad & crab stuffed shrimp. All were good. The soup could have been hotter. For dinner: Salmon (very good), Filet (cooked perfect) but mashed potatoes were so-so. It would have been nice if they put a couple veggies on the plate. Crab cakes were excellent. I didn’t taste the fried chicken that a friend ordered. He said it was good. Their Mac and cheese needs work. Liquid cheese, no browned top, and they use penne (I'm not a fan.) Dessert: Banana cream pie was yummy. It needs more banana compared to whipped cream. It wasn’t too loud yet dining room was full. Overall, a lovely evening.
Chris was excellent. Attentive without being over-present. Great recommendations on food and beverages. How to be back soon, Chris.
Delicious food and wonderful service!!!
Food was low average. Service was a little slow, but fine. I would not return again.
Great food, service was perfect and the atmosphere was very good and that allowed us to visit with our friends and enjoy our friends.
This was our first time at Paul Martin’s and we truly had an amazing experience. Thanks to our server Christopher for all of his suggestions. We will be back!
went for friends birthday dinner. i guess there was a party going on, so it was bit rowdy then the last time i went. still good ambiance, good food. little bit salty but pairs well with alcohol.
My soup was lukewarm--kind of a drag since I like hot food to be hot--but other than that for this particular visit to Paul Martin's, PM's still remains as one of our go-to places for casual--and even more formal--dining. Family, friends, date night...all are good at Paul Martin's
Christmas Eve dinner; fabulous food and service. Brick chicken melts in your mouth. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly.
First Time for my party here. Easy to get to and park. Nice greeter. Attentive waiter-Jose. Well prepared food served with minimal wait and at the same time. Unique dessert-Loved. Four Hours later left happy.
I as looking for a place to take my "foodie"son after he landed at LAX. He loved it, as did his father and I. The food was extremely tasty, well-prepared and presented well. We also loved that it was quiet enough in the restaurant to hear one another. We had a wonderful time enjoying the meal and catching up.
They sat us right next to a huge party with very energetic kids where were running around and such. The waitress was polite, but not friendly. My braised short ribs, amazing! Husbands steak was decent. Don't know if we will be back with other options close by.
Awesome service! But our steaks were not good, tough.
Probably wouldn't recommend. The atmosphere is barny and the booths are uncomfortable. Food is O.K. but nothing even remotely special. Large, interesting menu. Very good service.
Food was ver dry, like eating sand paper and the service was very slow. Our waiter was very nice and the ambience is nice as well but extremely loud. Thank you, Ron Burke
Took a client for Christmas lunch we both enjoyed and will return.
Excellent food and service - Highly recommend the Steak Cobb and Deviled Eggs!
So many choices, will go back to try other items.
Service was extremely slow and food not as tasty as it usually is.
Took over 30 minutes for our food. Was told there was a large party so our order went in after theirs. If waiter had mentioned that, we would've placed our order sooner.
The food is so delicious! I will definitely go back in the near future
We were celebrating a friend that has battled cancer since last year and is now nearing the end of his treatments and surgeries that are rating him as cancer free.
Paul Martin’s was the perfect backdrop and the exceptional food supported the festive appreciation that the world can be a great place.
The Pre-fix Prime Rib special on Sunday is a great deal!
Sunday night prix fixe Prime rib was a treat with my husband. Service was slow despite not being busy. Food great!
Made a reservation for a Friday night for 4. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately. Our servers were friendly and attentive for the entirety of the meal. They were helpful in answering my questions about the menu and came to check on us just the right amount. Our main server also had to bartend, but he was really good about looking up at our table often to see if we needed anything. When I had glanced over to ask for the check, he immediately came over to see what we needed. Overall, food was great with the exception of the calamari appetizer, which was quite small for what you pay for. I had the salmon, which was nice and crisp on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside. The ribs were very tender and the meat fell right off the bone. I also tried some of the halibut, which had a great beurre blanc sauce and asparagus which was cooked well. The pork chops were tasty as well, and came with amazingly savory, creamy mashed potatoes. I was a little disappointed that despite making a note on Open Table that we were celebrating a birthday, the servers didn't seem aware and didn't do anything special. Other than that, good experience here!
Our family enjoyed celebrating The Thanksgiving Holiday at Paul Martin’s in El Segundo. All of our meals were delicious! The special turkey dinner was divine. Cocktails were excellent. We will definitely be back soon! Thank you for making our holiday very special!
My family & I celebrated Thanksgiving in a non traditional way this year by dining out. Normally it’s at my home & I do all the cooking. Our dinner was delicious! The server was attentive & even the manager checked by our table to assure we were getting the best service! Overall it was a wonderful evening at Paul Martin’s. We will dine there again!
I’m so glad that we decided to enjoy our Thanksgiving at Paul Martin. Our sever, Tara was wonderful and professional. Our favorite wine wasn’t as expected and she engaged the manager, Don, who made sure that we were happy. As always, it was a great experience and may become a holiday tradition for us! Thanks to Don and Tara for your kindness and top notch service!
