Paul & Jimmy's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We came there, the four of us for my brother's birthday. It was new for us We had passed by , but never went in. This time we just tried it after looking at comparable restaurants in the area. It needed to be in the Gramercy area due to our logistics. Great food, well prepared. good lighting. I like to see my food. Not rushed. They had a prix fixe that helped us make a good selection. Would go here again.
Really nice authentic Southern Italian Restaurant. Classic Italian dishes (like I grew up eating), reasonably priced wine and a very nice prix Fixe option. Freshly made desserts topped off the meal. It's such a pleasure to be able to talk to your friends without shouting in a nice ambience. Nice meal overall.
I was looking for a good restaurant for a holiday get together with friends and I saw great reviews for this one. It was very nice and cozy. The staff was friendly and always there to fill a drink. We all wound up doing the Prixe Fix which was a good deal. I wish it had more pasta on the menu for that though. But it was a nice night and my friends really enjoyed it.
Was not too impressed with the quality. My Fiance's pesto pasta with shrimp had barely any shrimp and way too much pasta. My Ravioli was bland at best. They also totally dropped the ball with my request for a piece of cake for my Fiance's birthday. It was okay, but nothing more than that.
Found Paul & Jimmy's on Yelp and it was exactly what we needed. Was able to make reservation on Friday for Saturday for party of 5 at 6 PM. Owner greeted us at the door. Bar was filled. We found a nice Italian restaurant in Chelsea with white table cloths, attentive wait staff and good food. Everybody was able to talk and we were not rushed out even though restaurant was busy. I actually had something off the menu with no problem and it was excellent. Nice local place with good food.
We love this neighborhood gem - My wife and I had a dinner the night before Thanksgiving and it was perfect. The soups are homemade and the fish salad and pasta perfect. This is our 5th time here. The quality of the food is top shelf and it is not as expensive as many restaurants are in the Gramercy area.
Paul & Jimmy's has been my "go to" restaurant for many years. The owners are accommodating and friendly, the wait-staff is efficient (also nice), and the food...the food is wonderful: tasty, well-prepared, well-seasoned, attractively served. Order anything, you'll enjoy it. Ask for modest changes from the menu; it can be done. Want more bread (warm), butter instead of oil--just ask. The room, as all NY restaurants, tends to get a bit noisy, but it's always possible to enjoy conversation with your companions while you enjoy your dinner. And you will enjoy your dinner. Oh, and definitely try the tiramisu for dessert. You'll be glad you did.
Honestly.. my husband has had 2 great lunches here and wanted me to try.. we went for dinner on Sat night.. we shared a “burrata” and tomato appetizer.. it wasn’t burrata but mozzarella.. I ordered the pasta special.. oriechetta w/broccoli and cauliflower.. absolutely no taste and I even had to add olive oil.. just not good.. extremely bland..
Sadly.. I won’t be returning any time soon.. I’ll let my husband continue his lucky streak at lunchtime..
Paul & Jimmy's never disappoints. Have been going there for over 20 years. It's a great place to meet friends for a nice long quiet lunch (or dinner). The food is consistently good & well-prepared, served up tastefully. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly, brought nice hot crusty Italian bread. The waiter was very attentive & offered refills on drinks. Everything was delicious from the appetizers to the main course to the dessert. Can't wait to go back.
This was our 4th time to Paul & Jimmy's, and came with friends on this visit. The food and service were spectacular. Our group enjoyed the Minestrone soup, salads, fish and veal. On each visit we have been extremely satisfied. If you are looking for a really good traditional Italian NYC restaurant - this is the place.
Very good old-school Italian restaurant. Not a place to go if you're looking for something inventive and bold, but great choice for Italian classics. Above average pasta. Good selection of appetizers including a number of specials. Attentive service, but a bit slow. Dimly lit, romantic vibe. Would return.
