Patsy's Pizzeria is a true New York pizzeria that has been in business since 1993. Not much has changed to the interior of the restaurant since it opened which means stepping inside is like going back in time to pre-World War II America. Patsy's uses a coal oven stove to cook its pizzas, a Sicilian tradition dating back to the invention of the dish. Many credit Pasquale Lancieri, the restaurant's founder, as the pioneer who first started selling pizza by the slice.
At Patsy's there are dishes that aren't pizza, like the shrimp scampi and the chicken parmigiana, but pretty much everyone comes for the pie. Surprisingly, there aren't any pre-set specials for guests to choose from. Diners simply select which size pizza they want, whether they want a marinara or alfredo base, and then choose the toppings a la carte for a wholly customizable experience.
