Fifty eight years ago, Elaine and Pierre Boissiere established their eponymous restaurant at its current location, years before Carmel Plaza shopping center was built around it. They sought to offer the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea a relaxing and comforting venue modeled after a European chateau where tables are thoughtfully spaced and fresh flowers, fireplace, candles and soothing musical notes are integral part of the dining experience. The ambience sets the tone for French country food served with a great deal of care for detail and pastries baked daily on premises. It is a testament to their far sightedness that Patisserie Boissiere Restaurant continues to fulfill their vision to this day.

Super lovely staff. The service was great. The ambiance is cute and low-key. The French Onion and the Mushroom soups were delicious but the entrees were both just a little over cooked. Steamed vegetables were lifeless. The desert was phenomenal. I can’t decide what to think overall. The prices are very good for this region but overcooked food is still overcooked food. I’d bring my parents here, probably.

This place is amazing. I am often very underwhelmed with the service at restaurants in Carmel and the general Monterey area, but the Patisserie offers perfect service. The food was good and my part all enjoyed their meals and I especially enjoyed the french onion soup. I could have easily just ordered the soup and been full and happy. The desserts were also all very good and it would be worth coming here just to grab for dessert. I highly recommend this place.

The food was not up to pare as other Carmel restaurants I have experienced. We will not be returning to this restaurant. There are so many other restaurants that use fresh ingredients that we are accustomed to. The service was great. It was a warm night and they did not use their air conditioning just an annoying fan in the dining room. Very disappointed.

Nice and cosy French restaurant. Food delicious and atmosphere really good. Our waiter had perhaps a bit hurry or was not fully concentrating because he missed 1 of the dishes (we needed toast that separately again) and was not apologising about that. Dessert cakes were perhaps the best of all the food. Perfect place to have conversations throughout the dinner because the nice level is low - its like being in the home of somebody.

Highly recommend. The food, service, and overall dining experience was simply outstanding. If you are in the area, this should be on your list of places to eat!
