Creative cuisine, with emulsions, foams and gels, but not all were tasty. In addition, there were very long waits between courses (up to an hour between the starter and the main course!) and portions were far from substantial.

Always a pleasure to dine with Patina. Small touches like a black napkin instead of white for ladies with black slacks means they are paying attention to details. Excellent service and exceptional food make it worth the price, and the location next to Disney Hall is so easy.

We arrived much later than anticipated (confusion with the location) for Mother's Day and they were kind enough to hold our table. The pre fixe menu had many options to satisfy our whole family. The oysters on the half shell with wasabi pearls was light and refreshing. The spot prawns were spot on with just the right amount of asian flair without a sauce to drown out the prawn or bok choy. Can't wait to go back again!

The food was well prepared and presented beautifully. Since they got a new chef and manager there has been a noticeable increase in standards. The food and service were both outstanding, and the European halibut (different to its Alaskan cousin) was perfectly prepared.

Exquisite food, elaborately served, very professional and delicious. The only criticisms are: service was slooow and our waitress had long acrylic nails that are completely inappropriate in a dining establishment. Otherwise, it was very good, even if we had to rush to make our theater reservations.

Food was excellent!
I love the food presentation-elegantly plated with the right amount of food, very colorful and enticing to the palate.
Seems like there was something missing....
Real warm human interactions!
The service was a little cold and pretentious.
I also think the layout of the restaurant- the placement of the tables and setting are not so inviting. A little too serious!

Worst experience with Michelin-stared restaurant ever! We told the restaurant we have a concert at 8, made a reservation at 7pm. The restaurant said we can only choose appetizers as the limited time, which is totally understandable. However, after we sat down at 7:07, the waiter took our order at 7:15, for just 3 appetizers. The first two dishes came around 7:25, good. They just automatically doubled one of the order for two persons without asking. However the no.3 took forever. After we finish food by 7:30, I asked the waiter if we have time to do dessert. He wasn't sure and would let us know if we have time to finish. Anyway, we had to leave the restaurant at 7:55, with nothing came to table after 7:25.

It is not acceptable as such a high status restaurant. Besides, after we told the waiter to bring the check because we are risking to be late for concert at 7:52, he still wanted to find his manager to talk rather then just bring us the check.

Flawless. Our reservation found immediately and we were seated right away. This is a restaurant for food sophisticates yet there was no trace of snobbism or indifference. The staff were all very kind from the sommelier to the bus boy. We enjoyed every part of the 3 course tasting menu, and hope to return.

Great spot before theater but it's pricey and the meals are only Price Fix - you either order a 3 course or 5 course meal. Not food friendly for kids.

The food described on the menu was not what you end up getting on your plate. I ordered pork tenderloin as part of a price fixed menu and I ended up small pieces of tenderloin and 3 pieces of pork belly, which was disgusting and just 1/2 fat. I couldn't even eat it. Very expensive dinner, for not being able to eat it.

Simply outstanding. My wife and I opted for the 10-course grand tasting menu, with wine pairings, and are so glad we did. Every course was creative and delicious, and the wines were chosen with obvious care to pair perfectly. It was a nearly four-hour experience, and worth every penny. I can't wait to go back!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Friendly staff. Warm welcoming. They let you know they appreciate your choosing their restaurant and make every effort to please. And they do. Patina lost some of its lustre when chef Theo Schoenegger left to open his restaurant in Las Vegas. For more than a year now it is back up to it's former glory and even better.

The food is exquisitely prepared and presented. Seasonal vegetables grace plates of meat and fish. Always with a little different treatment. Never boring. Always delicious.

Patina is a culinary hot spot with elegant plating and excellent service. Be ready to spend a lot of money when going here!!! They have a course style menu only with choice of three course at $85 per person before drinks, or the six course tasting menu. While the portion size is designed to look beautiful on a plate rather than fill you up, the food is exquisite!! Great for a date if you don't mind spending $300+ on dinner for two.

Patina is underrated by LA food critics in comparison to places like Spago, Providence, and Melissa, with which Patina definitely compares. The menu preparations are now quite innovative and beautifully served by an exceedingly friendly and efficient staff. The space is understated but quite attractive. The location can't be beat for performances at Disney Hall, the Chandler, Mark Taper, and the Ahmanson, but it's also worth the occasional drive downtown for itself. All in all, definitely "high end" dining, but with an atmosphere and service as though you were being served in a friend's living room.

The 3-course tasting menu meal was really delicious. The flavors in each course were just right. There were several choices for each course and most people will find something on the menu to their liking. The service was fantastic from start to finish and didn't feel rushed at all. They did, and will do their best to accommodate your schedule if you're headed to a show following dinner. This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.

I wish we'd discovered Patina sooner! We've celebrated a couple of birthdays and a Mother's Day here and have found this beautiful space to be consistently excellent with regard to food, service and ambiance. We've never been disappointed; in fact, this has become our favorite Los Angeles restaurant over the past 18 months or so. We dine out frequently and try new restaurants quite often.

It's rare these days to find a staff trained so well. Your needs are anticipated ahead of time and the staff doesn't hover or intrude. Our primary contact was David, who was knowledgeable, kind and gave great suggestions when we asked about some of the items on the Prix Fixe menu. He was "spot on" and we had an incredible meal. When we told the sommelier, Christina
(I think), that we had a very early morning appointment and were going to have to limit our wine consumption, she offered to do "half pours" for us that were superb. We each had a lovely wine with our appetizer and also with our entree. Perfect selections that enhanced the meal.

The amuse bouche was not only creative but very delicious - a carrot "soup"- served in a tiny glass container. To me, it looked like an egg in a nest.

I could go on and on - but I urge anyone who hasn't tried this exceptional restaurant to do so. You won't regret it. The Chef is excellent and you can choose from Prix Fixe menus or - if you arrive on the later side, we were told it's possible to order A La Carte, order a cheese plate and wine, or dessert.

We look forward to our next dining experience here! Bon Appetit!

The new chef has greatly improved the quality and presentation of the food. Each dish came out of the kitchen with artistic presentations. The food was served at the correct temperature cooked to perfection. The sommelier's wine selection (we had a glass each) was perfect for the fish.

We came here for dinner on a Saturday night before a show of the symphony at Disney Concert Hall. Got there a few minutes after our 5:30 reservation, but they didn't give us a problem. They recommended the three course dinner because we only had two hours (!!!) so no time for the bigger menu.

Food was AMAZING. I had foie gras, wagyu beef, and chocolate cake. He had big eye tuna, wagyu beef, and coconut/tapioca pudding. He tasted my foie gras and was sorry he didn't go my way, but I tried his tuna which was fantastic!

The meal was too big for me, but I gave it my best shot. The wagyu beef was amazing and so was the chocolate cake! There were also a few in between freebies which were lovely.

Our waiter was David, if memory serves, who was awesome, but our table was handled by pretty much everyone around. The pacing was very nice, but there was always someone around to answer any questions.

Oh, and Christine was there with the wine, which was lovely.

We got out of there in perfect time for our show afterwards. A truly wonderful experience!

Lovely dining experience. Always creative three /six/ten course meals. The three course was plenty for us and the cheese cart served up the best there was. The initial service lagged, but after our server got around to us, the service was spot on. I also have to say that the fig bread was amazing! We had some before our meal and also with our cheeses.

As in previous reviews, I would highly recommend Patina for a grand dining experience.
