Wagyu was not very much Wagyu as I understand it as a Japanese.
But, it was delicious and worth for the money.

Food seemed very salty. How about trying some other seasonings instead. Too expensive....would not go very often if lived in LA. A nice experience for a visitor. Thank you.

It was a weird experience. Tables are not set with napkins--which is okay if they remember to give you one. I only got a napkin when I mentioned it as they served my drink. I conferred with the waiter about appetizers--I was torn between the corn agnolotti and the foie gras. I said I'll take the corn agnolotti. I got the foie gras (which had a $12 surcharge) but didn't say anything as I had a concert to go to. Very tasty. But as I was having a beef main, I could have used something lighter. For dessert I opted for a coconut selection; earlier that day I had had a delicious coconut tapioca dessert at PWT. The one at Patina was very tasty, but I don't know that it was better than PWT (which is not a fine dining restaurant). The waiter brought me petit fours. I ate them, the plate was removed and someone brought me identical petit fours.

The food is very good, the atmosphere is serene and pleasant, and the place is really convenient for the Disney Center. But they clearly had an off night at high prices.

With Patina's priciness, you expect something special. On an October 2017 evening, it wasn't. We weren't warned that our only choices (for a pre-theatre dinner) were a three-course or six-course prix fix dinner. The three-course dinner (the only one practical for pre-theatre) left us only with 2 fish dishes and a chicken dish to choose from. My wife and I each had one of the fish dishes, which were mediocre. Upon serving dessert, the wait staff disappeared, and it took forever to order a capuccino, which first arrived as decafe (which we didn't order) and then arrived lukewarm. Patina is capitalizing on its (famous) name and captive audience at Disney Hall. It is convenient to the concerts!

Be sure to utilize the water sommerleir as patina has a wide variety of both still & sparkling waters from which to choose. Our sommerlier was very instructive in matching some waters to the particular to the six course menu.

Patina was gracious and aware that we had an 8 o'clock curtain. Without rushing us we had a very pleasant and most delicious meal before the theatre. Of special note was the dover sole which was tender and tasty. Every course was served elegantly with well sized portions allowing for a good tasting experience without becoming overly full by the final course.

The staff was attentive and did well to help with a birthday celebration.

Although I dined alone, Patina is ideal for a date. The staff is very considerate regarding the time and comfort of their guests. They were conscientious enough to ask if I was seeing a performance that evening. I ordered the 3 course sampler and everything that was presented to me was scrumptious.

Considering Patina is the flagship restaurant, we were surprised and very disappointed by the inconsistent food quality and unknowledgeable wait staff, with the main exception of the Sommelier, Kristina. She was excellent, very knowledgeable and suggested unique pairings.

The Good: The Sommelier, Kristina.
We ordered 3-course, prix fixed menu. The Beef Entrée was very good as was the Dover Sole. We were there pre-opera, and they were able to get us out in time without feeling rushed, we appreciated that.

The Bad:
- There was no acknowledgement by wait staff after being seating for approx. 10 minutes (the Sommelier was the first one to approach us as she noticed we did not have any water or menus) Our waiter was nice, but was unknowledgeable of some of the menu items. (Even diner waitresses are familiar with their menu!)
- Our napkins were missing and we had to flag down a waiter for them after our meal was served, and had to flag another waiter to have our water glasses filled
Considering the price point|reputation of this restaurant group, this is unacceptable.
- They have a great bread basket, but no gluten free options. I'm used to this, but really appreciate it when restaurants at least try to creatively accommodate GF-ers, especially higher end restaurants in the larger cities. I've been GF for over 15 years, so this isn't some trendy hip thing for me. There are good bakeries in LA that make GF bread fit for high end restaurants.
- When I asked the waiter which dessert course was GF, he didn't seem to know.
- I ordered the roasted beet salad starter-- and until that night, I'd never met a beet salad that I didn't like. It was sooo bland, I knew SOMETHING had to be missing -- it wasn't a cohesive dish. Under seasoned, no dressing. The waiter asked how I liked the dish, I was honest & the mgr came over and pretty much told me it was just fine.
We would have been embarrassed if we had recommended this restaurant based on our experience.

I had very high expectations for Patina, the service was top notch, but the entree was mediocre and the dessert was just poor. The ambience is nonexistent, like the lobby of an insurance company from the 90's, but with tables.

The service was impeccable; we were made to feel like the only diners in the entire restaurant, as I'm sure every other patron felt, too. Also, the bread guy is beyond this world hilarious. The decadent food was just a cherry on top of a wonderful sundae.

We had a truly lovely meal before going to the ballet Saturday night. The three course tasting menu with an ample selection of cheeses as an add-on was just right and the friendly but never obsequious staff paced the evening perfectly so we never felt rushed and still got to the performance on time. Special shoutout to the som, to whom I gave carte blanche to choose among several Beaune's and she made a great selection at the lowest price point of the six on the list. That doesn't happen every day and I was impressed.

My experience at Patina will always be a memorable one! First, they made sure to call me to confirm my reservation and made it a point to ask if anyone had any food allergies. I really appreciated that because I have food allergies and never once have I been asked by restaurant staff about that in the past. The restaurant is cozy, and the restaurant is fairly quiet, which I enjoyed because I was able to talk with my family around the table. The servers were very courteous and kind, always making sure we had enough to eat and that we were comfortable. They also were very informative as they explained all the items we chose to order off of the menu along with how is was cooked. The wine menu was so superb, my mother had to ask one of the server's for the name of it written on a piece of paper. The price is right for the excellent cuisine, the good service and the beautiful ambiance ( the decor inside is amazing!) My fiance and I are planning on going to another show next door at the Dorothy Chandler and eating at Patina before showtime. All in all, my mother enjoyed her birthday and they made it a point to not only acknowledge it, but sent over a dessert made for her. My mother couldn't stop raving about her experience. We will definitely be returning to Patina and recommend it to anyone looking to eat fun, beautifully constructed fine French cuisine!

Superb in every way!! The food was divine and beautifully presented. The entire staff, including the waiter and the sommelier, was friendly, attentive and took the time to explain different ingredients and preparations. We always love Patina but don't go as often as we'd like because the cost can be beyond our budget. But this time we went on Dine LA, which gives you a limited menu but does not compromise on the quality or creativeness of the food and wine choices.

Mine is kind of a mixed review--the appetizer was delicious and I almost wished it were my main course. The sea bass was very fresh, but just seemed to be missing something; more flavor. And the desert really lacked sweetness. You have to go to Patina realizing you have few choices and while most are delicious (I think my dinner mates would attest to that) I would make another entree choice next time. I preferred some options on the higher-priced menu, but that was twice what mine cost. The portions are beautifully served, but very small. The wine was great. The service is solicitous; almost too much so. There was someone at our table every few minutes. On the other hand, the sommelier was wonderful and very helpful. Overall, I wish the menu offered more choices at the lower prix fixe price, and that we could feel a little less pressure to move the mean along.

Food was excellent, the sea bass was cooked perfectly, same as kurobuta pork belly, not too soft as most other restaurants tend to do, the dineLA menu was great value. The wine paring was spot on; the water paring was great beyond belief, a must try. We love the service at Patina, very attentive without hovering, the staff really had it right, every one there knows how to provide a great dining experience. We are looking forward to our next visit there.

The occasion was a birthday. The service at the door was gracious and very accommodating. Bravo.
The service at the table was good.....but.....there is a difference between a sever being informative/unobtrusive and entertaining. There is no reason for the server to be entertaining. We are there to have the kind of dinner that Patina is famous for. That is enough. Our server seemed to want to engage us in conversation. He also informed us that our dinner would include some extra courses not mentioned on the menu but he did it as though he was saying, "oh, you lucky people. Look what I've done for you". He might have said simple that he was delighted to include ......and then mention the additions. Everything a guest could ever want for a delightful meal and evening is already there when guests walk in the door. Too much attention is insulting. The staff is there to represent this wonderful restaurant not to be sycophants.
The evening was wonderful. The service was an interference. We are happy people who enjoy fine dining but the servers tried too hard and became a bother and distraction.
The restaurant maintained it's international reputation in spite of anything else that might have happened. The food was extraordinary. Bravo.

This was our first time dining at Patina. We chose to do the Dine LA menu. We tried the Heirloom Tomato and Brentwood Corn Agnolotti as our first course followed by Pork Belly and Sea Bass as our main course. All dishes were fantastic. The pork belly was so soft and tasty while the sea bass was cooked perfectly. Then we had the coconut tapioca and panna cotta as our dessert.

The restaurant ambience was quite elegant and the service was excellent. This is definitely a 5 stars restaurant. Highly recommend this to our friends.

High end, gourmet three or six course menu. Allow two hours for proper dining time. Delicious food, decent potion sizes for the quality and type of restaurant (no large portions).

I had the lamb and it was amazing. A wonderful fusion of flavors with the various sauces on the plate.

The service and the staff were fantastic. The food was beautifully presented and small nouvelle and pricey portions. Interesting and unexpected combination of flavors. They had 2 prie fixe sets of meals 3 and 6 courses. But we ended up ordering certain things ala carte. At times wish they had a more extensive selection on the menu, but it was beautifully handled with a great staff. But save up, it is pricey.

My evening at Patina with my boyfriend was a great experience..we requested to seat in the chefs table room as we were doing the tasting menu, and our request was honored. The staff was kind, welcoming and gracious towards us. The tasting menu was outstanding and the chef prepared extra courses as "bonuses" for us which were delicious and much appreciated. Special shoutout to the sommelier, Kristina! We chose to do a wine pairing with our tasting and Kristina listened to our individual preferences for wine and paired them absolutely perfectly with our courses. DEFINITELY do the wine pairing! Thank you Patina for a wonderful experience and meal!

Patina is still a wonderful prelude to a downtown performance. We enjoy the ambiance and all the people who participate in making the dining experience memorable. Keep in mind that if you are attending a performance, you're not alone. Most of the people dining with you have the same demands. So, get to Patina early and expect to have a difficult time getting your waitstaff's attention close to curtain time as everyone else is dealing with the same demands.
