From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.

The atmosphere is great, restaurant was full and very easy to have a conversation! Food was outstanding, different, good presentation and a variety to satisfy everyone. Bar was really cool looking.

From the greeting as we walked in…. Throughout the entire meal…. And even when leaving…. Everyone at Pate’s was fabulous! Highly recommend! Appetizers, entrees, desserts, and cocktails were all phenomenal.

Meal and service was very good / but we were celebrating my wife’s special birthday and was acknowledged when made a reservation and when we arrived - and expected something to celebrate this occasion ( complimentary glass of wine or small dessert) somewhat dissatisfied.

Heather our server was great and attentive. Cocktail was great . Food this time was a big disappointment for an anniversary dinner. Mussels and noodle app was tasteless and oily. Swordfish special was over salted drowning the other flavors, and a tiny portion of fish. Sea bass was overcooked, burned on outside. Good but not outstanding for the high end price.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Pate’s. We weren’t rushed through our meal. Our server answered our wine questions (he didn’t know himself, so he went to the bar for the answer). We would definitely dine here again.

The food was just ok at best, Shrimp with red sauce had absolutely no flavor, and the pasta was way over cooked. The Tuna Sashimi had a very fishy smell (did not eat it). The 1/2 chicken dish was very tough. Drinks were very good, wait staff ok. Very disappointing would never go back.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Pate's. Modern but comfortable ambiance with great artwork from the Nines Gallery. We had the summer greek salad, shrimp scampi, peking duck tacos and a gluten free version of linguini and clams. We also shared the snowball dessert which I would definitely order again! It was all delicious and we were greeted warmly by Rebecca and had a very nice and knowledgeable server named Mickey.

Pate's was overall good, but not spectacular. We had a 6:15 reservation on a Sunday night of Labor Day weekend and were seated right away. That said, our table was small and we would have had no elbow room as the table was up against a wall. Seeing another option, I requested a change in location and we were accommodated without question. Table was nicely set with clean linens and glassware. At 6:15 the restaurant was already pretty busy with large groups and families so noise was high. Server was pleasant, attentive and orders came out promptly. My best options from my order were the Lemongrass chicken dumplings with Thai dipping sauce and the traditional wedge salad. The main course, Shrimp Scampi was pretty tasteless. Though the protein was well cooked, the sauce was lacking and oily. Needed more salt, lemon and garlic. We did not have desert. I think that this place is probably pretty popular with the Chatham crowd due to location but not one I'd rush back to for dining.
