From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.

Such a pleasant experience. The food is wonderful and a beautiful presentation. Surf and terf was lobster ravioli and skirt steak. One of my best meals in a long time. A bit pricy but worth it for what you get. Looking forward to them opening in April again for the season.

Pate's is consistently good. Amazing food and excellent service. You never feel rushed, and servers are attentive to your needs. Not inexpensive, but the quality is worth it. I also appreciate the online reservations. We'll be back!

We like coming to Pate’s and almost always have a great experience. But this time, the food was good, but mostly unexceptional. Service was great. We were seated next to the bar, even though I had asked for a quiet table, so it was VERY noisy, which detracted from the overall. The restaurant was quite full, so we couldn’t really ask to be seated somewhere else. Since they are closing soon (for 3 months), that may have been a factor. We will return when they re-open, but this meal was a bit of a disappointment.

Food was very Fresh but very bland!. Deserts tasted like store bought items not homemade and bland also. Had the Pekin duck tacos. They tasted like barbecue chicken way too much sauce and should’ve had some type of slaw with it. It was one note and couldn’t taste duck at all. The best dish at or table was my wife’s fried fish dish! And our friends food they said it was also bland.

Fabulous! Everything was fabulous... Starting with Nick, our server, who made our experience exceptional. We ordered the fried artichokes, the bao buns, the pork & apple pizza special, and dessert....decadent brownies a la mode with bananas. Each dish was served at its appropriate temperature. And each dish was flavorful with complex seasonings. The bao buns were like eating clouds. We also enjoyed a complement of cosmos and wine. Nick was professional and appropriately attentive throughout. Keeping the meal and drinks flowing appropriately. We'd be remiss if we didn't share our complements with the chef and crew. The food is the anchor to the dining experience. Great work.

Disappointed this time. The flat iron steak had a poor presentation. The onions, mushrooms and spinach were poorly presented and flopped on the plate in large globs. The Pates steak sauce tastes like BBQ sauce. The seafood pan roast was more liquid this time and light on the seafood. The tuna dish was a hit. The broccoli appetizer was another hit. Sadly too full for dessert. The noise level and energy level is extremely loud no matter how empty or full the place is.

We always look forward to dining at Pate’s during our visits to Chatham. The menu is varied and appealing and the ambiance is attractive and serene. This time we were dining with two Culinary Institute alums and they gave two enthusiastic thumbs up for their entrees, the halibut and a roast chicken dish. But what made the evening extra special was the fabulous service provided by Heather. She was warm and attentive and even remembered us from our last visit several months ago! She’s a gem. Thanks for a great evening! We’ll be back.

Wonderful New Years Eve dinner for six of us. We had a U shaped booth that enabled our party to sit comfortably and converse easily. Our waitress was superb, knowledgeable, and recognized our desire for a leisurely evening. She was extremely patient and her timing impeccable. Presentation of cocktails and food is really beautiful and adds a great deal to the experience. Pates is very expensive but all aspects of the experience make it worth every penny. Happy New Year!

We’ve come very close to dining at Pates many times and we finally pulled the trigger last night. So glad we did! The seafood pan roast was possibly one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. The service was great, too. Just wish they had outdoor dining in the summer months!

We dined at Pate’s for a birthday celebration. Their food is the best that Chatham has to offer. We are locals, and greatly appreciate that this establishment stays open during the off season. The menu is a delight to read, as their offerings are unique and enticing. The Tuna Cones and Lump crab appetizers are favorites. Our entrees were equally delicious! We enjoyed their version of Surf & Turf, Scallops and a Short Rib special. Our server was very attentive and full of knowledge about the menu. Don’t wait until the last minute to make a reservation here, as you will be out of luck! Always packed and worth the wait.

As usual an amazing meal. Perfectly made cocktails, attentive waitress (Amy), perfectly prepared food. We will be back! Tuna cones to die for and the special of chicken dumplings were amazing. The Korean fried broccoli had the perfect amount of zing. We had surf and turf, the scallops and 1/2 chicken, kids chicken tenders and a side of mashed potatoes. Everything g was perfect and tasted amazing.
