Patara - Oxford Circus
We’ve been coming here for years but it certainly has gone steadily downhill, the food was not up to scratch, we sent one dish back for the chef to taste - it was ghastly! It was so loud downstairs the waiter took our order wrong as he couldn’t hear. I will not be returning
Food was great, as per our prior visit. Service was superb, waiter (Napoleon) was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was good. Will definitely look to visit again before too long!
Great food but absolutely terrible service, we were charged a bottle of wine even though we only had a glass. I love food at Patara but would not go back to the Oxford Circus branch and will tell all my friends not to.
Waiters were very friendly and polite. My friend forgot his shoppjng bag on his chair and our server ran after us on the street to return it.
Coconut beef was exactly what I wanted!
An ok Thai food place. Good food but be careful of where you sit! Sitting next to the windows upstairs is a very cold place and drafty! E has to move as I could feel the freezing breeze in my back. Another couple who sat there also asked to be moved.
I have no complaints about the food, the food was fantastic however the rest of the restaurant in our opinion, let the chef down. The atmosphere felt dead, we were left with dirty plates on our table for ages after eating, I had to ask a waiter to remove. I would definitely return to a Patara restaurant simply for the food, but I would dine at another location.
I go there quite regular and have taken friends. Always an enjoyable experience.
Fürth time visit and tried a different dish (lemongrass sea bass) which was absolutely disgusting. I liked the usual dishes like beef and lamb shank, but unfortunate this fish dish had overthrown my previous good impression. Would not order this again
The staff were excellent and the menu choices were delicious.
The Thai fish cakes were yummy and a real stand out. I had the garlic king prawns which were delicious. However, the only negative was the dessert which included pandan sticky rice with mango which was disappointing. The service was fast and prompt.
Being a busy Friday night the noise level was quite high but the staff were lovely and helpful.
The food is authentic and absolutely amazing. Service was good but very different levels among staff. For example, we ask for a simple bowl of steamed rice (as we still had our curry) when the kitchen was already closed. One waiter said it wasn’t possible, the other one brought it to us right away!other than this the place is great!
in total everything was good. the service is quick. food is on avarage I didnt got a wow effect
The food and atmosphere was great
Just that food took long to come out from the starters to the mains
But overall it was fantastic
Excellent service, very nice restaurant and location. Food was amazing! Will definitely recommend.
Great food and service. Good place for a birthday! Portion sizes seem to have decreased.
Love coming here and am never disappointed. Was happy to share this experience with my lovely aunts who also fell in love with Patara as much as I did xx
Nice food and good service.I recommend it.
Didn’t like one of the soups, staff was kind enough to serve a fresh one on the house!
It is quite standard thai food in a quite standard environment. Nothing disastrous nothing exceptional. It is convenient for its good location but don't expect something that will stay in your memories.
I’m a big foody and one of my main passion is exploring different Thai Restaurent, I had high expectations for this place, but the food just didn’t live up to my expectations. The food tasted as something I can only describe as tangy, my wife and I struggled to place the taste.
However on the plus side, the service and atmosphere was really good and the waiters were very friendly and took the time to sing my wife happy birthday which was very kind of them.
Average food. This place has gone down! We had chicken green curry - the chicken was chewy and the taste of the curry was not awesome. I will not come here again.
I highly recommended Patarta to my friend who was visiting from Germany as I normally love coming to Patara. However, this time the experience was not good. We could have been given the business menu, but were not..this is not a major issue but something that has been offered before. Our order was taken and the waiter asked if we were ordering A La Carte...ofcourse we were as that's the menu that was given to us. We ordered our starters, which we both enjoyed. We ordered Fresh Orange Juice......we could have died of thirst as it took so long (that too after reminding the waiter) and I'm sure it was not Fresh!
Our starters were fine. The mains took so long....we both ordered Vegetarian Green Curry, one more spicy than the other, but this did not taste as it nor normally does. My friend had ordered Jasmine rice but the waiter brought Egg Fried Rice. We could not have dessert as it all took so long. But we were charged a handome sum of approx £80....what for? I am not sure if I will recommend this unless standards improve.
They sat us next to the emergency exit even though that we had a reservation and they new we were there for my sister’s birthday.
It was dark and damp. Very poor Ambiance.
We ordered noddles they brought us past!!
The curry was so watery and it looked disgusting.
The staff were really friendly and nice and that was the only positive about that place.
Waste of time and money.
Not recommending it to any one!!!
Incredible food and friendly service. Special thanks to the manager, Napoleon!
I would reccomend but we have been there before and this time we were really disapointed of food. Main course was nice but startes were nothing good liked we remembered.
Excelente comida y atención
Fantastic food, thankyou
We love the place, but the lady servers could be more friendly. We ordered our favorite green curry and it was watery so we complained, and my iced coffee was more ice than coffee .Well the Man who seems to be in charge, immediately changed the curry and it was delicious. Moreover, he gave us a full order to take home instead of the 1/2 I was planning to take, and did not charge me for my coffee. I love this man. He really wants to succeed and have happy customers.
Made a reservation through the app for 10:00PM after the musical “Big”. We arrived at 10:14PM as it was a longer walk, and my wife and I were excited to eat there as we really wanted Thai and the reviews were so good. Was told by the hostess that they had no reservation for us, and that the restaurant was closed. When I asked if the hours were really until 11:00PM as it said on the door, she brushed us away with her hand saying “we’re closed, you must leave”. We were obviously very disappointed!
So OpenTable, we didn’t get a chance to dine there! Would’ve liked to, but with that experience doubt we’d ever go back.
starters were cold and the squid turned rubbery. Waiter forgot to bring me my drink and left without a drink for most of my meal.
Happy with h the booking food service ambiance presentation and taste. Will recommend and visit again.
It was an overall pleasant experience, the food was okay, I ordered a chicken Thai green and the flavours were very nice but the chicken was dry. The other items ordered were very good. Average price for where it was situated. Also I did request them to wish my girlfriend happy birthday but they forgot and gave us the bill, she was left feeling a little sad but I took her for dessert elsewhere.
Good food, Good service and not too expensive. We were there for business lunch and it was perfect.
Very well executed Thai food. Service was very good. Interior atmosphere ok
The quality of the cooking has declined steadily over the last year....
Food was exemplary, but when I thought nothing could top it, the friendly and prompt service did just that. Great evening out. Will come back again for sure.
For Thai food in an upmarket restaurant, I expected better. The flavours were flat, not enough salt, sugar lime juice and chilli. Nam prik pla was not offered to enhance the dishes. The portion sizes were on the small size, even though the ingredients (noodles) are cheap.
The food was good and service was quick. However we had issues with manager regarding the time for which we could occupy the table. I also saw 2 other parties having similar problems with the manager.
Really disappointing as we usually go to our local branch in Hampstead - decided to try the Oxford Circus branch on this occasion. The egg fried rice literally had one piece of egg and two small pieces of spring onion. We were given no choice but to accept the waitress's explanation when we queried it. Apparently, that's how they make it! The remaining food was not great and some dishes were cold. Dark and noisy ambiance.
Overall, a very unpleasant experience and very poor value! Definitely will not visit again nor recommend.
Worst experience in a long time. I arrived right at the time for which I booked the table (7pm). There was barely anyone in the restaurant but the manager refused to let me sit insisting that could only sit when my date arrived. Notice that no one greeted me let aside offered to put my jacket in the cloak room. When my date arrived around 15 minutes later, again we were left waiting at the entrance. We subsequently opted to leave and will definitely black list this restaurant!
