Pasture Ratings and Reviews
We had high hopes for our meal at Pasture. Unfortunately, it was just average. The highlights included the crackers and pimento cheese and pork rinds. The remainder of the dishes were adequate but did not stand out. This includes the chicken and dumplings that were under seasoned. The cocktails were nothing too spectular either. If you are looking for southern / comfort food in Richmost, then keep searching.
I booked Pasture on a whim for a Saturday dinner for our trip to Richmond and we were not disappointed! Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and really seemed to enjoy his job and giving recommendations, which I always really appreciate! Overall great, warm, friendly vibe and amazing food. I ended up with the chicken and dumplings and green beans (which were SO GOOD) and my boyfriend got the steak. Both delicious, highly recommend!
We went to Pasture to celebrate my husband's birthday. I made a special request for my husband to be embarrassed if possible ;) The staff provided him with a free shot and a pumpkin! We enjoyed the food, even if it was rather over-priced. All the staff was welcoming except our waiter who gave a pretentious impression, and did not wish my husband a happy birthday. Will we return to Pasture? Maybe. But to be honest, we enjoy restaurants where everyone is welcome-not just well-to-do hipsters.
Pasture never disappoints. The servers are top-notch - very professional and very friendly. The food is always delicious, and the menu always has something new and exciting on it. The cocktails are a little pricey, but always worth the money (bartender Beth rocks!). John is the host with the most.
My friend and I came from Williamsburg for an event at the Dominion Arts Theater. I googled good restaurants nearby and Pasture for the most part had good reviews. I ordered the burger and my friend got the chicken and dumplings. Her dish was far superior than my burger. My burger was only luke warm. Hopefully next time will be a better experience.
This was our second visit to Pasture. My wife raved about the brussels sprout and butternut squash dish after our first visit last Fall. Fortunately, that item had just returned to the menu for this season, so all was well. My wife had the pork chop and I had the bistro steak--both were excellent. We've dined at several restaurants when visiting Richmond and Pasture continues to be our favorite.
My partner and I went to Pasture to celebrate our anniversary. I had requested, through my Open Table reservation, that we have a more intimate table given the occasion we were celebrating. When we arrived, not only had the staff arranged a great table for us, but they also made a "Happy Anniversary" sign that was displayed on the table.
We ordered 3 appetizers, 3 small plates, various drinks and desserts. Everything was amazing, and reasonably priced! Would highly recommend this restaurant, regardless of the occasion.
Pasture is our regular restaurant for symphony night. They delivered as always. We didn't think our food was up to the usual level of excellence, but it was still very good and we'll go to Pasture again. It is within easy walking distance of Carpenter Center. Vibe is casual and friendly. We both find food we enjoy (veg and meat lover) on the menu.
This was my second time eating at Pasture this year. My first experience was great so was pretty disappointed when we went back Saturday with some friends. Both times we sat outside which is fine as long as you dont mind the city buses stopping right in front of the restaurant every 30 minutes. The inside looks inviting and fun. The main gripe was the food... i ordered the pasta dish which had a funny taste that didnt hit my palate in a pleasing way. When I mentioned it to the waiter they were very gracious and took it off the bill which would normally shoot up my review to a higher star rating. Unfortunately the mediocre experience didnt end there. My husband ordered the chicken - it was a pretty small portion for $20+ and the cornbread was very gritty. Both of our friends ordered the steak which was very good but one was ordered as medium rare and it was very bloody. The fried pickles were good and our friends enjoyed the Pimento cheese spread.
