Great service! Went for a birthday celebration for a friend and the server automatically had a birthday celebration ready. Didn't even have to sneak around to set up!
Always great 2-course Sunday brunch. Love the seafood crepe and Thai shrimp and pineapple. Excellent value.
need more vegetarian options. other than that place is exceptional.
Food & Service was excellent. Yes I would go back. Great Place. From Illinois. Second time there.
Had little kids yelling on the patio ruining the Happy Hour outing.
Best maryland crab cakes I've ever had! Also macaroni and cheese with lobster.
Our server was often forgetful when were able to get his attention. We generously tipped him nonetheless but wouldn’t want to have him again.
My waiter was excellent...I really enjoyed the food overall a great experience.
Started with lip stick on my glass :)) not mine... having been there before I let it go with s new glass. Then I ordered a salad with salmon and was told it was the cost of the salmon dinner. When the check came there was an up charge .... had to ask for the lousy 3 dollars back ... I think we will give PassionFish a rest
This was my 2nd time at this restaurant. One was just a drop in with a friend and the 2nd time was for an anniversary and a reservation was made in advance. I enjoyed both dining experiences. What could of made it great is if we could have been offered a booth during the reservation or while at the restaurant. A lot of couples strongly prefer to sit next to one another as opposed to sitting across from each other, we felt separated.
Been here several times and the restaurant never disappoints. Friendly and attentive service; excellent food; and inexpensive parking close by.
Pleasant lunch. I had the bento box which was good, not great. The tempura roll was very good, but the few accompanying fried rock shrimp were a bit nondescript and their temperature was cool/warm rather than hot...not great since the cooler temperature resulted in limp, blah tasting shrimp.
We have been to Passionfish multiple times and keep coming back for the consistently excellent food. It is difficult to get reservations on the weekend so we have to plan well in advance or go on a weeknight.
Have been there several times and Passion Fish is consistently good. Very good service. Good food, not outstanding but very good. Very good wine selection. Table was ready when I showed up. Will definitely go back.
Delicious dinner and courteous service. We stopped in for a late night dinner and we were very happy.
The server, although nice and knowledgeable of the various dishes and wine selections was slow and a bit inattentive. Not sure if they were understaffed for that time of evening but I felt that it took him way too long to return between waiting his other tables. As a result, our dining experience took 2 hours and 15 minutes just waiting on him to come back between serving others and our courses. At the end when we were ready to pay the bill and leave, and I finally had wave / stare him down to return, it was thought he had almost forgotten about us by his surprised reaction when I finally got his attention. I have been to a quite a number of restaurants in the DMV and this doesn't even make it to one of my middle preferences. The overall high cost of the meal, the lackluster taste and texture of the food and service in general made the total experience underwhelming for me. I will not be returning this restaurant.
The place, the food and the service were amazing. We had a great time!
The food was fresh and well prepared (seafood not overcooked). The waitress was very friendly. Will definitely go there again.
Wow, my wife and I were wow by quality of food and service. I will recommend this restaurant to all my friend .
Order the crab cakes. They are the best I've ever had. PassionFish is a gem.
Our server, Sean, made this a wonderful experience. We’d come again just for his warmth and lively conversation. He was excellent! In general the food was okay, but portion sizes were skimpy and food was not as flavorful as other local competitors: BlackSalt Fish Market and Ocean Prime come to mind. Three small shrimp and three small fish fingers accompanied a heaping basket of dried out French fries for our kids’ meals. French fries are not an entree. The calamari was propped up on a heaping bed of rice, which left us wondering where was the calamari. Ultimately it became evident we were being plied with dense carbs. The calamari was very spicy, though the menu made no mention. The bronzini was an injustice. We’ve enjoyed bronzini at Le diplomat where the flavor and portions better reflect the caliber of restaurant and the cost.
Great food and service.
Food was excellent and service was very good. My fish was cooked perfectly.
I had many enjoyable meals at PassionFish. This was not one of them. My crabcakes were drab and devoid of flavor. I expected better.
Contemporary atmosphere, very busy and energetic. Not for quiet date. Excellent food.
We very much enjoyed our lunch with friends. Delicious and interesting food, terrific service and a great addition to the Bethesda dining scene. It is in a new building with generous parking nearby - though confusing as the exit is onto another street. The asian-inspired food was just the right amount and delicious. We sat in a well-lit section of the restaurant but there were cozy booths and other areas suitable for various occasions.
Stopped in for lunch with my wife before heading on a road trip. We always enjoy PassionFish. Everything went very well. The service was great. We enjoyed the food but will probably order something different next time. We will be back.
We think PassionFish is a great restaurant. Our server was wonderful, and the food was great. It was also nice that they gave us a glass of Prosecco for our anniversary. Never had a bad, or even so-so experience here.
My family and I were out celebrating my dads birthday. Parking is close to the restaurant and affordable. The decor of the restaurant is truly beautiful, as well as the table presentation. I didn’t particularly like sitting in their back dining room but next time I’ll request another table. Nonetheless our server (I forgot her name) were very sweet and checked on us often. The mangers were active around the restaurant as well. The food was delicious I had a blackened sea bass with Mac and cheese and ended in the night with a variety of sorbet.
Love this menu and the setting. Very enjoyable. - Erik
Great experience. Food and service was fabulous. Convenient parking! Great choice for our son's 16th birthday celebration!
We have been back numerous times for their brunch which is delicious and a great value. The staff is extremely attentive. We always enjoy ourselves.
I was looking forward to a very special evening, taking a special adult date out on a Saturday night, for her birthday. I specifically noted that this was a special occasion "Birthday, Date Night." I requested, "a nice table, away from front door, away from wait stations, away from bathrooms." Upon arrival, we were led to the noisiest table in the house next to the front door. I don't like to make fusses, but asked to be seated per my reservation request and was then asked to wait. I went to the bar and ordered two classes of champagne. Just as they were being poured, the host rushed and interrupted to take us to a table ... next to the restrooms. I was really disappointed but didn't want to turn a celebration and happy evening into an unpleasant experience for my date, so I didn't mention it. Now the champagne was getting warm. Service was really "off" all night, and the food was just average. It was a loud, average experience. Not worth the money. Nothing special about it whatsoever. I dine at plenty of regular, mid, and nicer places. This is trying to be upscale and just is a large place that is noisy and average. Pass. Not going back. Can do better. Really disappointed. Had the crab and shrimp spring roll. It was awful. Could have come from the frozen food section of the grocery store. "Special" 1 1/2 lb lobster with crab was bland and without any inspiration or visual presentation. Kitchen is LAZY. Mashed potatoes o.k. - nothing more. Chilean sea bass was so-so. Black cherry creme brulee was burnt on top, under-cooked inside. I'm NOT a harsh critique. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. I was really surprised. Front of house and kitchen both need serious improvement. Side note: Went to simple, locally owned, Mexican place in Bethesda, Tia Queta next night. They did everything they could to please you. Difference was so profound! Wow - (No, I don't own or work at Tia Queta -)
The restaurant has a pleasing design inspired by the sea and an extensive seafood menu (as you would expect). The food was high quality and cooked correctly, which is vital for seafood to taste its best. My only critique would be that the amount of butter was a bit overwhelming for my dish specifically, but all others were seasoned perfectly. Our server was great and catered to all of our needs.
Great seafood-themed menu with a variety of locally-caught and regional fishes. They have a great outdoor patio in warmer months
I just have comments about the seating. It is so difficult for someone who is not a size 0 to get into your booths. I am a size 12 and 5"5. I had to pull a chair to the table and i hated it because i love sitting in the booth. So did my friend who is several size bigger than me. Unless you are Abercrombie & Fitch and don't cater to average Americans I suggest that you rethink your seating, because comfort is important.
But otherwise, the food was very good, so was the look of the restaurant and the service was excellent!. I enjoyed my visit despite the earlier disappointment.
If I could, I'd give both the restaurant and Andrea, our server, more than 5 stars. We had a wonderful brunch at Passionfish Bethesda this past Sunday. It was our first time there, but it won't be our last. We decided to try it because they had several of our favorite dishes from the sadly closed Acadiana. My husband was delighted to see the seafood crepe appetizer, which Acadiana had removed from their menu, and I the corn and crab soup. Every course was beautiful and delicious, and Andrea took care to see that we got out special requests satisfied. Oh, and when we return, very soon, we'll bring friends.
Amazing food. Great service and ambience.
