Food was excellent and service was very good. My fish was cooked perfectly.
I had many enjoyable meals at PassionFish. This was not one of them. My crabcakes were drab and devoid of flavor. I expected better.
Contemporary atmosphere, very busy and energetic. Not for quiet date. Excellent food.
We very much enjoyed our lunch with friends. Delicious and interesting food, terrific service and a great addition to the Bethesda dining scene. It is in a new building with generous parking nearby - though confusing as the exit is onto another street. The asian-inspired food was just the right amount and delicious. We sat in a well-lit section of the restaurant but there were cozy booths and other areas suitable for various occasions.
Stopped in for lunch with my wife before heading on a road trip. We always enjoy PassionFish. Everything went very well. The service was great. We enjoyed the food but will probably order something different next time. We will be back.
We think PassionFish is a great restaurant. Our server was wonderful, and the food was great. It was also nice that they gave us a glass of Prosecco for our anniversary. Never had a bad, or even so-so experience here.
My family and I were out celebrating my dads birthday. Parking is close to the restaurant and affordable. The decor of the restaurant is truly beautiful, as well as the table presentation. I didn’t particularly like sitting in their back dining room but next time I’ll request another table. Nonetheless our server (I forgot her name) were very sweet and checked on us often. The mangers were active around the restaurant as well. The food was delicious I had a blackened sea bass with Mac and cheese and ended in the night with a variety of sorbet.
Love this menu and the setting. Very enjoyable. - Erik
Great experience. Food and service was fabulous. Convenient parking! Great choice for our son's 16th birthday celebration!
We have been back numerous times for their brunch which is delicious and a great value. The staff is extremely attentive. We always enjoy ourselves.
I was looking forward to a very special evening, taking a special adult date out on a Saturday night, for her birthday. I specifically noted that this was a special occasion "Birthday, Date Night." I requested, "a nice table, away from front door, away from wait stations, away from bathrooms." Upon arrival, we were led to the noisiest table in the house next to the front door. I don't like to make fusses, but asked to be seated per my reservation request and was then asked to wait. I went to the bar and ordered two classes of champagne. Just as they were being poured, the host rushed and interrupted to take us to a table ... next to the restrooms. I was really disappointed but didn't want to turn a celebration and happy evening into an unpleasant experience for my date, so I didn't mention it. Now the champagne was getting warm. Service was really "off" all night, and the food was just average. It was a loud, average experience. Not worth the money. Nothing special about it whatsoever. I dine at plenty of regular, mid, and nicer places. This is trying to be upscale and just is a large place that is noisy and average. Pass. Not going back. Can do better. Really disappointed. Had the crab and shrimp spring roll. It was awful. Could have come from the frozen food section of the grocery store. "Special" 1 1/2 lb lobster with crab was bland and without any inspiration or visual presentation. Kitchen is LAZY. Mashed potatoes o.k. - nothing more. Chilean sea bass was so-so. Black cherry creme brulee was burnt on top, under-cooked inside. I'm NOT a harsh critique. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. I was really surprised. Front of house and kitchen both need serious improvement. Side note: Went to simple, locally owned, Mexican place in Bethesda, Tia Queta next night. They did everything they could to please you. Difference was so profound! Wow - (No, I don't own or work at Tia Queta -)
The restaurant has a pleasing design inspired by the sea and an extensive seafood menu (as you would expect). The food was high quality and cooked correctly, which is vital for seafood to taste its best. My only critique would be that the amount of butter was a bit overwhelming for my dish specifically, but all others were seasoned perfectly. Our server was great and catered to all of our needs.
Great seafood-themed menu with a variety of locally-caught and regional fishes. They have a great outdoor patio in warmer months
I just have comments about the seating. It is so difficult for someone who is not a size 0 to get into your booths. I am a size 12 and 5"5. I had to pull a chair to the table and i hated it because i love sitting in the booth. So did my friend who is several size bigger than me. Unless you are Abercrombie & Fitch and don't cater to average Americans I suggest that you rethink your seating, because comfort is important.
But otherwise, the food was very good, so was the look of the restaurant and the service was excellent!. I enjoyed my visit despite the earlier disappointment.
If I could, I'd give both the restaurant and Andrea, our server, more than 5 stars. We had a wonderful brunch at Passionfish Bethesda this past Sunday. It was our first time there, but it won't be our last. We decided to try it because they had several of our favorite dishes from the sadly closed Acadiana. My husband was delighted to see the seafood crepe appetizer, which Acadiana had removed from their menu, and I the corn and crab soup. Every course was beautiful and delicious, and Andrea took care to see that we got out special requests satisfied. Oh, and when we return, very soon, we'll bring friends.
Amazing food. Great service and ambience.
Appetizers were better than entrees. Fish was salty and overlooked. Waiter was kind enough to remove it from bill when he noticed it went mostly uneaten. If the name is PassionFish you ought to know how to cook fish, right?
Only drawback is finding parking
Otherwise a great fish restaurant
Waitress gave us quiet table by a window, so lovely and appreciated. Lunch was delicious and well served. Enjoyed the occasion very much.
Food and service were excellent. Nice seating arrangements.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and the food was delicious!
The new manager does not understand customer service. We go there at least once a week and sometimes we get there a little after happy hour menu is over. In the past we will order some appetizers from the happy hour menu and even the time was up they will make us happy and bring us our items from the happy hour menu in addition to our normal dinner.
Well yesterday they had a new manager that did not understand that concept. He refused to serve us even though we were a few minutes after happy hour was over.
Get him trained in customer service please. You have a great restaurant and should not get a bad review.
Food was great. Service was great. Ambiance was really good without being roudy for a crowded Friday night.
Bad music everthing else was good
The variety on the menu was excellent, and our choices (fish tacos, made of mahi) were delicious. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Our lunch was a wonderful experience.
Such a delightful night. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with such a big welcome and they offered to take our coats. Our server was extremely attentive and several servers came and helped out throughout the night. Obviously this is a hot spot as it was super crowded, but not so crowded that they didn’t provide excellent service. So glad we had reservations though. The bar area looked nice and fun as well. I would give them 6 stars if I could! We will definitely be back. The seafood tower was a hit for all and all of the food presentation was spectacular! This restaurant knows how to do it right!
Great waiter and delicious oysters!
It was my birthday and the team really went the extra mile to make me feel extra soecial- even a personailzed birthday message on the menu! The chef is terrific and the food amazing... esepcially the smoked oysters and banana foster dessert! So delicious. I will be back!
The food was delicious. We went for brunch. A customer suggested it. Great choice for food. However, while eating my fork keep hitting something in my plate. It was a huge crack. I was concerned that glass was in my food. I showed it to my waiter and he nonchalantly looked and asked if I wanted a new plate! Duh. You think? The manager came over and never acknowledged the issue. He just dropped off my husbands leftovers. Great food—just look at the plates.
Best fish I've had in the area and the key lime dessert was perfect
Based on my recommendation, myself and four other friends met for dinner at Passion Fish. I made the reservation after having a wonderful dining experience the previous week ( thanks to our server Mary). That experience on 2/23 was four star (would have been a five but my reservation was misplaced). All thanks to Mary.
This time around the experience was the complete opposite. Although my reservation was on the books - the service and food did not meet our expectations.
After being seated and our order taken - we waited a good “45+ minutes “ for our main course to arrive. This delay I was told (after inquiring), was because our server decided to wait until I finished my salad appetizer (only guest who order an appetizer) before bringing the others their meals...
Once the food arrived two of the five courses were not prepared properly. A steak requested well-done arrived medium-rare and the calamari was burnt. These orders were replaced however, the final products were still below par.
I will have to think long and hard before returning or recommending the Bethesda location.
Dinner was great - there was a little bit of a wait from the time we were sat until the server arrived. Cocktails came quickly after being ordered so no harm no foul. The only thing I'll say is I wish we were offered a bigger table since it was a slower night and plenty were available. It was only two of us but the extra room is always nice.
Excellent food and presentation!
Our server was very attentive at first then disappeared. We had to wave her down for a second drink and the check even though she kept visiting the tables next to us. The oysters were delicious but very small. The scallops were also delicious but small which is not a complaint, they were just small. The sauce on the scallops was excellent but they were swimming in it. Just need a little sauce on the bottom of the plate. Good scallops should be able to stand on their own.
The food tastes wonderful and great price
Service a little spotty and the courses hit or miss. sushi rolls better than entrees. cocktails very good. formal seating better than the bar area.
The Chinese Smoked Lobster was delicious. Charbroiled Oysters are a great starter to your meal.
Overpriced and food was meh. The calamari appetizer was way too fried; mostly breading and just a bit of squid. Ceviche was decent. Smoked lobster was okay at best. there was no smokiness whatsoever and was very unevenly cooked. Some was totally dried out; other pieces were okay. Not worth it for the amount it costs. Service was very good. Another mediocre, downtown Bethesda restaurant.
Everything was prepared & presented beautifully! Our waitress, sorry I forgot her name, was lovely & gave great recommendations! My friends want to go back soon!!!
Excellent food, beverage and service made the evening memorable.
