Passero translates to “sparrow” in Italian, and like the sparrow this neighborhood eatery symbolizes joy, creativity and hard work. Passero serves as a reminder that busy hands and minds promote a happy and full life.
We visited here on Valentines Day and for a busy night, the food, service and overall evening was excellent. The food was delivered reasonably quick, piping hot and delicious. We were leery of going on a busy "holiday" as many restaurants try to handle heavy crowds and the food is usually sub par compared to a normal night. Passero handled everything great. This continues to be our "go to" establishment for dinner in the downtown.
Excellent for and great service. Good downtown spot with farm to table food.
The food was better at the original place. There were no special decorations for Valentine's day. The waitress was very good but the food was not.
Service was excellent. Appreciated servers recommendations
By far, my favorite restaurant in Arlington Heights. Food, service, ambiance could not be better. Thanks Passero. You rule!
We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, but it is always booked around dinner time, so we opted for lunch instead.
Food, service, and vibe was great. We will be back for sure!
Enjoyed our lunch very much!
Loved the s ambiance of the former location. This feels like suburban anywhere Denny’s. Food is still really good.
Moms evening out, Birthday dinner
The service is terrible. For this restaurant to stay in business they need to train their servers. They had this problem in their smaller location and now in the larger location. We were seated and it took 20 minutes for our drink order to arrive. Food is okay, small portions. Overall a very disorganized experience.
No happy hour during the weekdays. Expensive vino ..should offer a 12oz glass for the price we paid.
Seems to be a happening spot! Even with the reservation there was a 10-15 minute wait to get seated. Servers are friendly and don’t mind giving recommendations. Food was really good! Will return!
Disappointing food - was average
Based on all the hype, I expected better than average
We had calamari & pizza. Frankly, I have dined in the same physical space before when it was California Pizza Kitchen.
I might as well have been back there vs. Pissarro’s. No difference
I will give it one more go before my final decision wether to recommend & frequent
I liked the restaurant but the food is terrible. Prices are high for this quality. Never again.
We had a 7pm reservation on a Wednesday evening. We were seated 50 minutes late—7:50 Wall ins were seated before us. My guess is that they had been waiting a long time too. We were meeting friends for dinner and it was awkward to wait in the entrance that long. What is the point of a reservation if you are seated almost an hour late? I know they are maybe having growing pains with this new space, but reservations should be honored.— or just make it a walk in restaurant. If we walk in and we are told there is an hour wait, I understand that and it’s my choice to wait or choose another restaurant. Please rethink your reservation system. Here is the positive— the manager was very kind and provided us with a drink and appetizer and even a gift card to come back again. She was very professional and handled things in a gracious manner. Please just work on your reservation system.
We went for my daughter’s birthday and the food was fantastic!
Great and delicious as always.
Amazing food and environment
Great food and great service continue in the new location. Tad noisy, but that’s the same as it was.
This was our first visit to Passero and we were very pleased! We went there for brunch. The brunch menu has a nice selection of both breakfast items and lunch items. We loved the "bottomless" mimosa option.
Our server, Consuelo, was delightful. She was helpful with recommendations, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Just the right amount of attentiveness!
I would not recommend it because the prices are high for the amount of food you get.
The restaurant was crowded, but we had a reservation and were seated immediately. Food was good and so was the service, but I’m not sure I would go back because of the noise level. My friends and I eat out a lot and we all agreed, it was so loud that it was hard to carry on a conversation.
Great food. Nice size portions. Very expensive cocktails and wine.
Wonderful food and atmosphere.
The new space is not as cozy as the original space, and feels a little more generic. But they needed more space and are filling it up. The biggest issue is with service. I've been to the new spot twice since opening and service has been poor.
They have relocated to a larger venue, yay. I did not appreciate that the waitress didn’t warn me that I was going to be charged $11.00 for a can of White Claw because they usually mix it with vodka.
The prices are astronomical and portions are small for what you pay.
I also hated that the wait staff now stands in front of you when you are paying and hands you a bulky machine and tells you to “add your tip and sign”
I will not be returning to Passero.
After trying and failing to get a Saturday dinner reservation, we didn't realize that Sunday afternoon would be a different (brunch) menu, so with out-of-town guests we were very disappointed to not be able to get their fabulous pull-apart garlic bread. What we did get was very good, no complaints, and we will be back.
We went for a family brunch for my going away party, we had a large group and we were taking care of from start to finish! We decided to order a bunch of options and share, I am so glad we did! WE LOVED EVERYTHING! We probably could have order a couple less items, but we really enjoyed the Breakfast Pizza, Bodega Sammie, chopped salad, & pancakes (omg with the butter and granola!).... we ordered other items and it was all so good. The new restaurant looks amazing and is so inviting with the colors of Navy & White. I absolutely would recommend this for brunch- done forget to get the bottomless cocktails 😉
Thank you for an amazing day!
Had to send one entree back due to unexpected spice. Chicken parm was substantial but pasta and sauce lacking. Cocktails seemed light on alcohol. Way too noisy. Fatty pasta carbonara.
Enjoyed the new location. Everything great as usual
The overall experience did not meet my expectations. We had dined previously at Passero’s previous location which enjoyed very much, food, service and ambiance. The noise level made dining conversation difficult at times. The food was average, at best, for the price. My wife’s entree was so Spivey she could not eat it (it was a dish she had a number of times at the original Passero). I had gnocchi and it had a small amount of sauce making it dry and one of the worst gnocchi dishes compared to other restaurants offerings. The wine list was limited and a bit pricey.
I understand they have been at the new location a very short time and have a number of issues to remediate which I am sure they will. I would not recommend going to Passero during peak dining times until things get settled in. We do plan on coming back in a few months as I am certain the dining experience then will be comparable to what we experienced at Passero’s original location.
was not as good as expected after seeing Check Please episode. Wanted more. We had several different dishes, 3 apps, 6 different dinners. Nothing really wowed, very average at best.
Fun place. Great food, Good Vibe, excellent service
Make reservations at least a day in advance
The “Nice Piece of Fish” was delicious. So were the donuts, octopus, and truffle pizza! Not a fan of the mixed drink I got, so I switched to wine.
Food was very good and the new location is quite nice if a bit noisy. My issue is with the pricing. I paid $40 with tax and tip for 1 dish of pasta with 1 smallish sized meatball and 1 glass of wine. That’s it...no bread was offered, no salad included. I am more than willing to pay for good quality food, but I thought this was a bit excessive.
True Italian taste, almost perfect Italian menu spelling...it would be great if anyone in the restaurant could actually speak a few words of Italian...that would make it just perfect.
Excellent service. Food was good. Would definitely return.
So good! Thank you!
All very good, server Lauren was terrific. See you soon.
