Parts & Labour

4 (39)
CAN$31 to CAN$50
Contemporary French
1566 Queen St. W., Toronto, ON M6R 1A6

About this restaurant

Parts & Labour opened in 2010 to major acclaim as the new cultural hub of Parkdale – the hip west end neighborhood in downtown Toronto. The 5,000 square-foot space boasts a haute cuisine restaurant/bar overseen by Chef Matty Matheson, who harvests some of his ingredients from the rooftop garden. A live-music venue on the lower level rounds out the experience brought to you by the guys behind The Social, Oddfellows and Castor.

Hospitality is all about making people feel welcome and celebrating food and drink with strangers. Parts and Labour is all about uber cool individuals condescending you as you try and experience a new restaurant/ dining experience There are too many great chefs and good places to eat in this city to have to endure pretentious poor front of house attitudes, the decoration is cool and thats about it..... will not be back

My experience at Parts & Labour is bittersweet. Having heard such great things about the place, I ofcourse expected great things. I did not expect it to be so empty. I'm sure if it were fuller my opinion of the ambience would be different. So given that the place was empty, I was expecting better service. Alas it's one of those things where the restaurant is slow so the service becomes slow and complacent. A few points on service. Please know what you are serving. It's hard to hear "I think that is..." or point to something that looks obviously like octopus and say it's chicken. Another point...offer and serve sugar with coffee. Even if it is espresso. Food was very good and the saving grace of the experience. Maybe I will re-try

The food took a long time to get from the kitchen to the table even though the dining room was slow. Regardless the wait was worth it. - MD

Smart service, and a menu that always changes and expands beyond the 7-8 options listed into at least 3 pretty interesting specials. There's easy comfort food and some more abitious stuff as well. The new menu is meat-heavy, but retained a few veggie, vegan, and catch of the day options. A very easy place to have a nice dinner and a few drinks. The decision to combine starters and mains onto one list will invite questions, but our server quite reasonably explained that price was a good guide to size, and that generally held true.

it is a v meat heavy menu. not friendly for veg and the brunch was fair, not substantial enough to feed a hungry girl on a sunday morning!I should have realized "parts" means animal parts...

Had a great brunch at Parts & Labour. The items on the menu are comfort-food type dishes that I love to eat. Well-prepared and presented nicely. Bottomless coffee. Perfect.

After reading an article about Parts & Labour and their famed brunch menu I had to book a table. Reservations weren't necessary however. The group seating at picnic tables is modern and social but not comfortable. The restaurant is certainly unique. Brunch choices were more limited than I had expected. I had something with maple and honestly that's all I can remember is the maple. It was so sweet and so overpowering that I could not eat my food. In fact, I have steered away from anything that said it has 'maple' at a restaurant since that day. My husband's food was rustic, a good portion and delicious. A nice place to stop in and eat. Not for a date night.
