Parterre, a French word that is commonly associated with a garden area that is appealing to be viewed from an elevated point of view. Our restaurant embodies that definition with our attractive and inviting courtyard area located within the walls of the historic Linden Row Inn. The Inn has become one of the most popular gathering places in Richmond with its beautifully restored rooms to its historical claims of past residents such as Edgar Allen Poe.

    Great little restaurant that is close to public parking. Book early to get one of the outdoor patio tables in the garden area that has a connection to Edgar Allan Poe. Bar has a draft beer including some local ones.

    The staff is friendly, he atmosphere quiet and the food was hot and tasty. We had shrimp and grits and salad, then finished with crème brûlée cheesecake. We were so delighted that we returned for breakfast to have scones, fruit and breakfast bowls. Parterre is now on our list of great restaurants in Richmond

    Unbelievable cuisine at my favorite Richmond hotel. Linden Row has upgraded the experience. Great server, friendly, funny. Noisy when we arrived for our 6:30 reservation but most left by 7 and it was quiet. Fried oysters, the best! On a bed of horseradish slaw. My partner and I both got shrimp and grits, trinity, andouille, spicy., delicious grits, perfectly cooked. I had two different IPA, local brews, new to me, both excellent. Partner got vanilla Gelato. Would recommend highly to anyone. But especially hotel guests who don't want to go out again.

    You have to sit outside in the courtyard to get the full experience of Parterre! The history of Linden Row is so interesting, and the view of the hotel from the patio is surreal!! I wish they had a few more appetizer options, but they have a wide variety of elevated Southern entrees. I always save room for dessert, where they fun and interesting options!!

    We very much enjoyed our dinner at Parterre! The service was great - food came out promptly and was delicious! We enjoyed the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer and our dinners were both great! We loved the history here and will look forward to this as a spot to bring visitors to RVA.

    Absolutely delicious brunch. I enjoyed my asparagus and ham omelette, and my dining companion was impressed by the Anduouille Scramble. Companion opted for the Cajun Bloody Mary, and I went for the "traditional." We sat outside on a fine June morning - lovely courtyard. I am a native Richmonder , well aware of the history and tradition of Linden Row, site of this restaurant. We looked up at balconies where I visited residents many years ago. Thank you Miss Scott, for saving this historic block from demolition (check out the plaque, and the tribute alley sign.) Back to my brunch: I don't quite understand the nouveau tweak involving olives and pickles in Bloody Marys . That's why nowadays you have to specify "NOT DIRTY" if you order a martini à la James Bond, because drinks are evolving…so I just ate the olive and pickle rather than contaminating my drink with them, and that was fine. It's hard to find drinks that are truly traditional. This isn't a complaint, just a comment. The Bloody was delicious. This was my second brunch at Parterre and I look forward to returning.

    Food was just ok, service was great. My 11 year old son said “the burger patty was as small as a mcDonalds cheeseburger” (the cheap one) so that was disappointing, especially with the cost, and not much flavor in our dishes.

    Service was very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely, a great location in a cool section of Richmond. We went for Sunday brunch and my partner was thrilled with his biscuits & gravy with eggs and potatoes, and also loved the coffee cocktail. I was disappointed with almost every aspect of my breakfast: lukewarm water for tea, no spoon brought with my yogurt bowl, which was served with flavorless cut up melon, and the scone of the day, a blueberry scone, was almost inedible. It was like an undercooked muffin and not buttery or flaky as you'd expect from a good scone. The server and the staff who greeted us were very nice but I would not return. Also I assume it's because Parterre is in a historic building (which, again, that's so cool!) but I don't know how they get away with not being even remotely ADA compliant. But that's not my fight to pick!

    We liked Parterre. They were very busy so our servers were not as attentive as expected. However, the service was good, servers friendly and the food very good. The only caveat is that two of our party ordered the steak, one rare and one medium rare. The steaks came out medium well and well with no pink at all. We were in a hurry to get to a play so we did not complain.

    Disappointing. Had heard a lot of great things about Parterre and were excited to try it. As it was a holiday weekend, it was rather slow. Still, the service was even slower (likely since the waitress was looking at her phone much of the time). The crab cakes were mediocre, though I thought the shrimp and grits were quite good. Only after ordering dessert and coffee did the waitress tell us there was no coffee as the coffee machine was broken. What!? I'm afraid we won't be in a hurry to return.

    Our server was so sweet and gracious. I know it can not be easy especially on Mother’s Day so I appreciate him putting up with my mother and I ❤️❤️❤️ I can not remember his name but he had teal hair and was so great putting up with our tipsy butts 😆😆😆 The food was on point, the bartender was great and took care of me while I waited for my mum. I loved everything about this place! Truly.

    We made a reservation for an early lunch at Parterre because we were staying at Linden Row Inn and it was convenient for us to eat there before my daughter's midday college graduation. Our server seemed irritated that we were there at 11 a.m. and said they "weren't open yet", although that was the time the restaurant opened and the time of our reservation. We were seated outside, and an employee of the hotel was leaf blowing (or loudly spraying water) through a lot of our meal. The food was good, and the courtyard was pretty and pleasant (other than the noise from the guy working outside).

    Such a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon for brunch. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant with the garden just steps away from our table. The service was outstanding !!! All of the servers were pleasant, attentive, and had that perfect balance of meeting the needs of their customers, while still respecting their privacy and conversations. My chevre and arugula omelette was good but definitely could have used more filling and less egg. The other items on the menu all looked great as well. I think a return trip for some donuts, waffles, or scones would be delightful! Janine Evans

    It was our first time trying this place out and it was within walking distance from the show that we were seeing. Our server waa very attentive. The food was great - really liked the brussel sprouts; close second is the flourless chocolate cake.

    Being walkable, we tried Parterre on a whim before seeing Hamilton at the Altria. We had starters before a great tasting dinner followed by donuts and coffee.Great spot in the courtyard.

    This was our first time at Parterre. It is a hidden gem for sure. We were there for a Saturday breakfast and enjoyed our vegetable scramble and andouille sausage scramble. The coffee was very good. We will definitely come back - looking forward to dinner next time.

    This is a lovely, little restaurant! It is quaint and intimate, with a relaxing outdoor garden dining area. If it had been a bit warmer, we would have requested that area. Instead, we sat inside. The staff was attentive, efficient, and friendly. The ambiance was quite welcoming, as was the staff, & we came for Easter Sunday brunch. We did have the impression Sunday Brunch was not a nor. The food was still quite good. We both order eggs benedict, my companion the traditional and I the crabcake. Both were served with fresh with roasted asparagus and potatoes. We would like to come back for dinner, which seems to be their staple.

    Very disappointed with the brunch food. Crabcake eggs benedict tasted like canned crabmeat. This was served on english muffins that were so hard they could not even be eaten or cut with a sharp knife. They were just either very stale or had been put in a microwave. The check came through first for the wrong amount and items - second check came through with another diners name. Hopefully this will come through correctly on the credit card charge.

    The food is highly overrated. The English muffins for all 4 of the eggs Benedict dishes we ordered (there were 4 adults and we all tired a different one) were as hard as hockey pucks. The drinks were very average to bland and nothing special. I Do not recommend this place at all. Will not go back.

    The food was delicious. We had the brussel sprouts, shrimp and grits, steak and the wild mushroom pappordelle. I would have given it a 5 star but when we ordered another red wine by the glass, the waitress said the pump that served the red win was broken and we could order a whole bottle. We did not want an entire bottle. I think they should have oened a bottle of wine to give us a glass. Otherwise everthing was very good.

    The inner courtyard was a lovely surprise for our first busy. Waitress worked tirelessly to deliver delicious food. Will be sure to go here again when in the area.
