Founded in 1989 by Jeremy Mogford, Parsonage Grill is a Cotswold-esque bolthole located within the 5 star 17th century Old Parsonage Hotel in central Oxford on Banbury Road.

Famous for its intimate, bohemian, clubby atmosphere, the Parsonage Grill and its private dining space, the ‘Pike Room’, displays a carefully curated collection of eclectic oil paintings, original stone fireplaces, leaded light windows and a Bloomsbury club ambience throughout. Outside, inspired by the legendary Jardin Majorelle, created by Yves Saint Laurent in Marrakech, a beautiful walled terrace sits dappled in the sun. This newly revitalised space seamlessly blends traditional British elegance with the vibrant energy of North Africa.

It was my birthday. Everything was top notch. My children had three oysters each, followed by the tartare, but then decided they could also squeeze in the asparagus and the goat's cheese. My wife's Caesar Salad with guinea fowl was flawless, also my scallops and lamb cutlets. Perfect cooking in elegant comfort. Full marks.

I made a last minute lunch booking for my mother's birthday so had not made any special requests in advance. I mentioned to our waiter that we were there as a birthday when they were clearing the mains and she produced a complimentary desert plate with a candle. Excellent.

Great setting, the staff were fantastic, friendly and attentive. Lovely relaxing atmosphere; background music at the perfect level. The food was amazing and I would definitely go back again.

The food is of great quality and presented well. Good menu choice and beautiful restaurant inside and out. What let us down was extremely rude service our waiter despite a large service charge I gratefully scraped the change off the plate back to our host who was visiting from overseas . The food is also overpriced in comparison to other similar restaurants.

Excellent dining experience! Lovely courtyard where we dined in perfect weather. Staff was friendly and efficient and the cuisine was superb. That lamb and tarragon pie is to die for! And my husband really enjoyed his sautéed Sea Bass with lemon butter. Highly recommend !!
