Husband-and-wife co-owners Michael & Susy Glick welcome you to their contemporary steak & seafood restaurant. Conveniently located only two blocks from the 92nd Street Y, Parlor Steak & Fish features the type of elegant, stylish interior that Upper East Side residents have long desired in their neighborhood. Had an amazing dinner!!! Waitress Gabriella was excellent, very attentive and helpful. She had our steak sliced for us without having to ask which was a wonderful surprise. Hostess Josie had our table ready and was able to accommodate our request. Wonderful dining experience!
This is our go to place when on the Upper East side. The food and service are top notch and never disappoint. We always have the oysters which are fresh and served nicely. We tried the shrimp sushi and it was very good. We always have the filet mignon and was served as we asked: medium rare. The crime brûlée was delightful. Another really lovely dinner!
The menu was limited and unimaginative - and WAY too expensive for what was being offered. My wife's Atlantic Salmon was approximately 1 inch wide, which is basically a sliver. Twelve ounce steaks were priced at what other quality restaurants charge for 16 oz. It makes a difference when you get 2/3 of an order and pay for more than a full order on everything on the menu. The Hamachi tuna appetizer was pathetically skimpy. My guess is, the landlord is charging too much rent and the restaurant needs to skimp on food costs while passing it on to their customers. I recall them being much busier also.
We've been to Parlor several times. After the waiter brought us wine, he said he'd get us bread. He came back and took our order and said he'd go get the bread. I mentioned to my wife, the bread would come just after our appitzers. Sure enough, one of the servers brought our apps, I asked that For bread, again.
My wife had the lobster roll and I had a filet - both excellent.
Went to pay the check, gave our waiter a credit card and a minute later he brought back the wallet, I looked at it, and it wasn't mine! I called him back before he got too far away and he was able to find my credit card, and our check. No harm, but ...
He could not have been more dis interested in being there and waiting table that night.

Great restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I was in Manhattan one night ahead of my colleagues and my hotel did not have a restaurant. I made a reservation for one and the hostess asked if I wanted to sit at the bar - which I jumped on. Billng itself as casual dinning (but on the Upper East Side of Manhattan), I found the menu fairly creative, the food exceptional, the wine list varied and reasonable - and the service top rate.
We gave very specific dietary needs while making the on-line reservation as well as reviewing with waitress. Had to send one entree back as a result . To their credit a manager came over apologized and provided complimentary desserts. Will give them another try .
Great find! Though NOT a kid's restaurant, I took four 9-year-old girls here for a birthday dinner and they all loved it and ordered off the kids' menu. Better yet, I loved it too and was able to enjoy an adult meal in a nice setting. Everyone was happy! Great waiter and also I was running late and called and they very nicely held the table even though I was 1/2 hour late!
Nice ambiance and great menu, but the service was really poor - we waited more than 15 minutes after being seated for a drink order, and had to walk up to the host stand to ask that someone be sent to our table for one. We were assured the manager would take care of it, and waited another 10 minutes before the hostess herself came to take our order. She was perfectly pleasant, but offered no apology for the wait and (not her fault) was clearly unfamiliar with the menu. The service did not improve the whole time we were there. No visits to check on us or see if we wanted additional drinks, we had to ask twice for everything, food was routinely placed before the wrong person. Also, while the food was very tasty, fish entree portions were exceedingly small for the price - really, no bigger than our appetizers. Extremely disappointing, especially given what could be with the ambiance and variety found on the menu.
Its not bad, just not as good as the prices would leave one to expect.
Pros -- great fresh cocktail list, really good Beet Buratta salad. My wife liked her pork tenderloin.
Cons -- the fish entree was very sub-par. I had dorade and my son had the swordfish, but grilled. Both were way overcooked, tough, bland and fishy-tasting. I thought more akin to what you'd get from fish in a diner, not something you pay nearly $40 for. Also, i opted for the glass of Chardonnay that was $15 (instead of the $30 one), and it was metallic tasting and not good.
Desserts were ok and cappuccino was barely luke-warm.
In all, if it had been half the $350 (this without a bottle of wine) I would've been fine with it (but still wouldn't return), but bottom line is this place thinks its a star or two higher than it is.
Room, atmosphere and service pleasant enough. We were not particularly hungry (and that turned out to be a good thing) so we just ordered salad wedges and appetizers. Baked Clams were uninspired and tiny. Sashimi appetizer slices were so thin you could see through them. Would not return based on what we ate.
The waiter was a bit pushy with the drinks, and two of the people in our party did not drink alcohol. The other two kind of felt obligated to do so, but only had 1 drink each. Other than that, I always love coming here, but not too often because it would ruin what makes the place so special.
It's definitely expensive, but the ambiance and food make you forget about the money spent!
You can't be in a rush, either. They will gladly hurry your order and get you in and out, but to really get a good feel and appreciate this place, I would say expect to spend at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. It will be worth it!
The meal was pretty good, but we were treated very poorly. I took my grandparents to dinner. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert. They forgot our drink orders, mixed up the side order with dinner, and once we finished dessert, they cleared the plates and told us they needed to sit the next party. It had been 80 minutes. Completely unacceptable. I did not want to stress my grandparents so i swiftly departed, but for a 3 course meal at a theoretically moderately upscale restaurant, they should not tell you to leave on that timeframe. We have a 645 reservation and were told to leave at 810.
Ordered prime rib, server brought rib eye and when noticed it wasn't prime rib seemed annoyed that we wanted to send back for prime rib. Also our other steak order came medium-well, versus the medium rare order. Our side of broccoli never came. When we paid bill it took server over 20 minutes to run the credit card despite the restaurant being empty. They did bring us dessert on the house, but the damage was done at that point.
