Parlay at Joy District
With a design inspiration flowing from the growing shoe culture fascinated by millennials, guests will enjoy ample booth seating, multiple 100-inch LED TV's and a 200-inch projection screen, so there's never a bad seat in the house. Guests will nosh on dishes like piri-piri chicken wings, avocado crab toast, pork belly sliders, and chickpea fries as well as Neapolitan style specialty and classic pizzas. Parlay at Joy District will cater to craft beer and cider lovers with a nod to local brewers, and offer bottled craft cocktail punches.
Let me preface by stating that Parlay and the staff did nothing wrong, this was completely an open table error that created a very poor experience for myself and the individuals with me. My group put in a reservation while at a different location as we wanted to head elsewhere to watch a game, however after leaving the previous location and coming to parlay were informed that there were in fact only 2 open tables and both had been held for previous reservations. I had to give 1-star across the board as unfortunately we were not able to try the service, food, or enjoy the ambiance. Open Table needs to correct the system to account for times when tables are not available so that groups do not depend on the confirmed reservations when making plans.
Unbelievable spot to watch a game. We stayed for many hours, had incredible service the entire time, then ultimately transitioned to the club upstairs. Highly recommend on all fronts!
The rooftop is amazing... great place to hangout out with friends and get some great photos. However, the brunch buffet selection was mediocre and food was cold. The mimosas were great though.
I had an amazing time I attended the Saturday brunch it atmosphere was very fun, waitress was very attentive food was great wish the selection was bigger for $50 but overall great experience and the security/ bouncers were so nice and helpful
Best place to celebrate my 21st! Loved the staff and music, the energy really showed. 💛
We were celebrating a friend’s 41st birthday the ambiance was great food wasn’t good and very limited very limited selection wasn’t worth the amount
It’s a nice place but I wouldn’t suggest this place if you are looking to get wasted with friends but the drinks are cute. Our server tried her best by bringing shots of premixed drinks (nice gesture) you will not get a buzz from the $14 drink specials. Overall, it’s a nice spot for friends to relax
Only good for instagrammable drinks. Food was so-so
Good drinks , nice atmosphere
Food was great and happy hour specials were wonderful
Our server was Anahi
Birthday. Great fun!
I didn’t realize how casual Joy District/Parlay was, casual as in bar style. The food was surprisingly very good! And I would recommend Joy District in general as a place to go for drinks, good music and bar food. But I wouldn’t recommend Parlay as an establishment for dinner. You guys shouldn’t even take reservations.
Definitely the place to be for day party brunch vibes The waffles are amazing and all the staff was very friendly and willing to help they were especially accommodating considering we only had 30 minutes of Buffet style brunch left our waitress made sure that we got the full experience in the short time before brunch was over . I definitely will go back on time LOL
The atmosphere was great. Service and food selection was mediocre was not a value for the money spent.
the dj was playing the music so loudly that no one could hear another person talk - even if you were sitting right next to each other.
We went on a Friday night for dinner and to watch the draft- because they advertise as a sports bar. There wasn’t actually sports on any TVs, it took us over 20 minutes to get a server, then another 20 minutes to get our drinks and appetizers. We ordered the check with our food and left. Also- the atmosphere overall was bad- we were seated next to a table of 8 very drunk screaming women and there was a frat party going on upstairs. We left and got dinner elsewhere- this place might be fine if you’re 22 and just want to get really drunk, but it’s definitely not a sports bar.
I don't think the food or the service was up to par for what they claim to over. Service was rude, and disrespectful at first when they sat us at a wobbly table and then when we asked to switch were very hesitant. After that, made one of the cocktails incorrectly and then was annoyed when we asked for them to remake it. Overall, not the best brunch experience especially for a holiday brunch.
We went in on a Saturday afternoon when they are not usually open; however they were for March Madness. Our server was very nice and helpful. Great customer service. We ordered several items off the menu and each one was very good! They had plenty of tv's for our viewing pleasure and actually turned the sound on for us!
Our waitress was new and she was amazing! Best service ever!
Food was decent. They claim to be a sports bar, but 8 of the 10 TV's had "Chive TV" on them, while solid college basketball, and NBA games were going on.
It took our server 24 (we counted) minutes to come take our drink order. Our first two drinks we ordered at the bar because the server was MIA. The sad thing, is that there were 4 tables of people in the entire restaurant.
It was poor.
Terrible service doesn’t begin to describe the staff. 20+ minute wait for bottled beers.
We walked in and were brought to a table and told that someone would be with us shortly. 10 minutes go by and no one's stopped by to see us so I go back up to the hosts desk. She apologized and said she'd get someone right away for us. Another 10 minutes go by and someone finally comes by to pour us water but doesn't say anything. We flagged down the bartender and she didn't explain how brunch worked or anything just gave us wristbands. We wanted to order the Scrumdidlyumptious which says serves 1-2 people and is $24. It comes out and is HUGE!! So we drink a little and eat a little but it was hard to have a conversation because the music was so loud. No one ever came to clear plates or give us more water we had to keep going up to the bar. When we ask for the check it listed the gumball drink as $48! I showed her the menu that said it was $24 and she said that was the price per person. No where on the menu does it say that is the price per person. Food was good but not worth $30. We would have never ordered the drink if we had known it was DOUBLE the price listed on the menu and was that large. Lots of employees running around but not actually doing anything. Terrible service.
No one came to the table after 20 mins got up and left place is dirty and trashy. Save yourself the time.
We had a team event here at 5pm on a Thursday and I was worried it would be too loud for dinner. The playlist ended up being great, and the food was perfect. Had a great time!
I have to be honest... I was quite disappointed in my visit to Joy District. I had been wanting to visit since the place opened, and an opportunity arose during the week in between Christmas and NYE. My wife and I got dressed and headed over on a Wednesday, and were blown away by the ambiance and the decor. This place is extremely stylish! We were seated in a nearly empty restaurant but could not wait to order our food. After receiving our $5 glasses of wine, we had no idea that they would be the highlight of the night, but they sort of were. First came our sushi rolls, which we ordered as apps. They were somewhat overpriced for the quality and taste, but we weren't disappointed in what we got. Just not blown away. Unfortunately the experience went downhill from there. My wife ordered the pan roasted red snapper, which was GROSSLY overcooked. I mean hard and dry. We could not believe it. I had the salmon, which was decent but the potatoes that came with it were really bad. Like worst than boxed. Mealy and just awful. Easily the worst I've ever had at a restaurant. We also ordered the Togarishi fries, which came out cold and unappealing (which cannot happen with fries that are so thick-cut). We did not even attempt to finish them. As the entire meal was bad we didn't bother with sending food back and trying again. In addition we were literally the only folks in the place except for the staff. I initially wrote off the experience as being an anomaly, likely due to the holidays and such, but as we left we walked past Hubbard Inn, which was packed to the gills! We ended up stopping there to have drinks, which sort of redeemed our night.
Overall a really cool place, but simply an awful food experience. I wouldn't go there again.
Our appetizers were great and they have an interesting cocktail menu that seems fun. We were one of two tables of people which always makes you wonder. The chicken roll was described to me as being rolled in something like wonton paper. In actuality it was the skin which for some would be great but was off-putting to me. Their menu is very interesting and I hope they succeed!
Great food experience! Impeccable service.
Service was atrocious and enough to never make me want to go back there again even though their food was tasty. The server was completely inattentive. It took over a hour for our food to be served. When they did serve our food they bought appetizers out with our mains. On top of that we saw the manager asking the table next to us how their meal was but he completely dodged me and my husband. I think this place is more concerned about how many tables they can reserve at their club than the restaurant portion of their business. They should just stop offering food altogether.
Food options were pretty good, though pricey. But our service was extremely slow. Was a 2 hour dinner and they had our food out super quick... so a lot of time waiting for a dessert option, check and refills.
Awesome service! Girl’s Night Out - funky decor, fun, high energy music. Waitress
Clued is in on 2 for 2 happy hour with plenty of time to double up on tasty, specialty house cocktails.
They changed the menu the week before we went (completely) so we a little disappointed before arriving when we learned this. We kept the reservation because they had Wagu beef on the menu. After ordering it and waiting, they came out of the kitchen to tell us they didn't have any. We left without eating and went somewhere else. In their defense, they did offer dessert on the house for their error.
So loud!! Service was great but couldn’t enjoy because it was night club loud at 6 pm.
young hip spot with good music and sake. friendly and attentive service.
Great vibe, ambience & cocktails but the food isn’t up to pare w/ the rest of Chicago’s trendy restaurants. We had over-cooked fried rice, paper thin fish on our tiny Sushi roll, tuna drowning in spices, etc. Go for drinks but leave it at that!
We went there for the deep fried brie lollipops that are on the menu shown on open table, but they weren't on the menu when we arrived. When we asked, the server was completely unsympathetic and said they were only for large group catering. I mentioned they were on the menu shown on open table, and she was completely disinterested and implied we were annoying her by asking more. Lots of other things on the menu shown on open table are not on the menu when you get there.
The food was great (Poke Bowl) and so was the cocktail. I eat poke a lot being from CA and for being in the Midwest, it was very good. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly, juicy and just seasoned enough to enjoy the natural flavor of the cut. The only thing that was disappointing were the beingets - a bit spongy and not warm enough when they came out of the kitchen. Fun atmosphere - two 30th bday parties, a bachelorette party and another big birthday group near us. Definitely a hot spot for large celebrations.
Great experience for a big group of 12.
