Parkway: Social Kitchen
A Kansas City native who spent 10 years traveling with his family, he returned to Kansas City with an appreciation of all things close to home.
“Local is better because it’s always fresher,” Hammack says. “We get everything as close to Parkway as we can.”
With a little kitchen warmed by a traditional wood-burning oven, Hammack says there’s no room for anything but the highest-quality, freshest ingredients. Hammack maintains a steadfast attention to detail and a commitment to fresh and locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. Everything at Parkway Social Kitchen is made from scratch daily.
A meal at Parkway isn’t going to be some tiny, fanciful dish with ingredients you can’t pronounce. Hammack makes familiar food that’s honest, down to earth and perfectly executed.

First time dining and I’m definitely coming back.
We ate at Parkway for the first time during restaurant week and loved it! The food was great and I would especially recommend the tomato bisque - I would go back just for that soup. The atmosphere was also nice and we’re looking forward to going back for live music and drinks.
The only drawback was the service. It seemed like others wasn’t great but we also aren’t deterred from going back.
Absolutely wonderful! Our server even brought my mom and I a cup of hot water for our hands after we came in from the snow.
Food was extremely impressive, especially if you factor in reasonable cost. Excellent ambiance and service. I'd call it casual fine dining. Really a gem on the plaza.
We attended the first day of Restaurant Week today and it was outstanding. Three of us started with the Brussel sprout salad and one had the tomato bisque soup. The salad was so delicious. It had shaved brussel sprouts, pecans, dried cranberries and goat cheese. The dressing was out of this world. For our entrees, three of us had the pork chop and one had the ahi tuna salad sandwich. The pork chop was absolutely juicy and perfectly cooked. The tuna salad sandwich was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. We ended our lunch with key lime pie that was so light and full of lime zest. The restaurant had great ambiance. Lastly, the our server was so courteous, efficient and responsive. We enjoyed our lunch immensely. We will return again.
Great food! Neat atmosphere. A little pricey for what you get.
Didn't have a great experience here. The food was not great - one of the worst salads I have had in a while. Ambiance was great though and the drinks were good.
Disappointed our waiter talked and talked about Houston’s how the dishes would compare and how everything was like Houston’s but it wasn’t
And we weren’t at Houston’s
Overpriced mediocre food trying to be Houston’s
4/10 will not return
Annual of Christmas tradition of catching a performance of the Nutcracker followed by dinner and a stroll on the Plaza. Our first (but not last) trip to Parkway Social made the evening a complete success for the two of us.
Maddie, our server, found ways to say yes to virtually every request. A true professional who knows how to look out for her guests. If you are fortunate enough to be seated in her section, follow her menu recommendations, I don't think you could go wrong.
The blackened trout was first rate. Lightly dusted instead of crusted with seasoning. This allowed the delicate, natural flavor of freshwater trout to stand out not be overwhelmed by the seasoning. A deft touch with Cajun and Creole seasoning is hard to find. But when done right, as it was for us, it is a culinary skill to be admired. If learned nothing else, five years immersed in the heart of Louisiana's French Acadiana, taught me that.
Accompaniments were cooked just right. The green beans lightly sauteed, al dente and hot. Very flavorful. Excellent companion to the trout.
Their choice of house coffee and the skillet brownie were great finishers to a meal well done!
Parkway is great for a date night/special occasion. They always have a great vegetarian entree option and my personal favorite starter is the tator tots! So good!
Great food and service. Bit pricey, but worth the spend for a date night or special occasion.
First time dining at this restaurant. We ordered two Southwest Chicken Salads, and were extremely disappointed. The salad hardly had any greens, no avocado (listed on the ingredients), and the blackened shredded chicken was pulverized to the point that it looked like dog food. Not impressed.
This is my new favorite place on the plaza. Everything I have tried here is so good! Service is excellent too.
Great experience at Parkway Social Kitchen. The Tator tots appetizer was to die for! The pork chop entree was the best pork chop in town! We had a great time meeting up with friends in the great atmosphere.
The food was excellent, decor was great, service was great. However, if you are going to dinner with a couple to enjoy an evening talking together it is not a good place. The noise lever is extremely high and it is very difficult to talk and hear without talking very loudly.
Great service and the food was surprisingly good. a little loud for nice conversation but definitely a fun relaxed vibe and elegant at the same time.
Food was great. Enjoyed everything. Key lime pie might be the best I ever had.
Only complaint was that it was very warm in there and the weather outside was about 32 degrees. I even felt claustrophobic due to heat.
Service was great too. Nice friendly.
Food and service were exceptional. Will definitely recommend and return. Live music was fine but more like a concert, just too loud / not right for the venue. Pork chop, prime rib, and grilled shrimp were all fabulous, large portions and beautifully presented. A great choice for dining on the Plaza!
The ribs were okay and salmon slightly undercooked. Overall a very nice experience.
Best pork chop of my life! Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and steered us in the right direction. Great dinner out!
Great Thanksgiving night, food was perfect! I will definitely return and recommend
One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had. Been to PSK twice before and had a great service and good. This was the opposite on all fronts. Waitress was pretty confused, not focused (seemed like she was on something) and rude. Steak that a friend ordered was WAY undercooked. Just awful all around. Def won’t be going back.
Heard great things about their food and thought it was just ok. Loud annoying music playing. Service was good.
Food was great. Told the waiter we had a show to get to and ha promised to get us food and checked out in 45 minutes. It took 46. Fantastic service and great menu.
Nice food menu & lots of good drink choices. We ordered turkey sandwich with brie, which turned out to be a cold sandwich and it was good but on a cold night, would have been nice to be warm like a panini with melted brie.
Great new addition to the Country Club Plaza. Food was top-notch. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great.
Great service! Preston (our waiter) was super attentive. The prime rib tacos were amazing and the mojito was too!
I suggested Social Kitchen as a spot for a lunch with a business associate. Having heard good things about the food, and the chef, I was excited to try this fairly new spot on the Plaza. Our service was great. I wish I could remember the gentleman's name so I could give him a shout out here. The food was also great. Ahi tuna. Fried chicken salad. All tasty. It was rather quiet and fairly empty for the lunch hour. And it was so chilly inside that my associate did not take off her coat for lunch. But overall, a good lunch choice. I'm sure I will go back again.
Great service and cool atmosphere! Food was unique and overall awesome!
Took friends here for a birthday. There are a lot of choices on the plaza and we were pleasantly surprised by this gem we didn’t know existed. We all bad something different and it all was great food. One had the fillet which was wonderful! One had prime rib tacos which were also great. A third had the gourmet Mac and cheese which also was quite tasty and I had the pork chop with sweet potatoes that was scrumptious. We shared the tatie tot appetizer that are WAY better than any tator tot you’ve ever experienced. Our only complaint was the Cosmopolitan and Sangria seemed to be missing a punch to the taste. Overall great dining experience!
We asked to be seated outside as it was an absolutely beautiful fall day & really enjoyed it. Will definitely return next time we're in Kansas City.
The food was decent, but nothing special and the red sangria tasted like sour wine. My waiter was nice enough to swap it out for something different, but still probably won’t go back with so many other options around.
Food and service was very good, but music was way too loud. Asked to turn it down and they did do that for a little bit, then turned it back up again. Our friends, who had not been there before, said they would not go there again due to the volume of the music. A bit on the pricy side as well for dinner.
First visit. Food was good. Best part was the live music in the basement. Fun night with friends, dinner and live music.
We were seated by the open windows on a lovely evening, and my shrimp with lime cilantro rice was amazing. My husband had the spareribs, and he raves about them as well.
Wonderful place to dine!
Food and service was average. Burger had no flavor and fries were underwhelming. Ordered a Moscow Mule, but they don't have copper mugs. The Mule and the Mojito were poorly made.
We had a lovely evening out without the kiddos. The hostess was less than friendly and the food has been better. I ordered the Ribeye which was delicious but the sides did not taste fresh.
Food was very good. Waiter was fantastic
Our meal was great (food, service, atmosphere and cost) and the bar atmosphere with live music downstairs was a great way to cap off the night. The next time we come back to KC, we will return to Parkway: Social Kitchen for sure!
