Parkway: Social Kitchen
The food was over cooked and the service is slow. Too Bad.
I was craving the Hawaiian ribeye for months! Finally made a trip down to kc and made a reservation at Parkway. I ordered my steak medium. First the one they brought out was well done, the second was was rare. Extremely disappointing as all I had for dinner was a salad, mushrooms and mashed potatoes. With that being said, our server was great and the manager apologized to us. Now I’ll need to find a new dish to crave at a new restaurant for my next visit to kc!
The appetizers we shared for table were good (ahi and chicken tenders). The Hawaiian ribery was not as tasty as expected and sides that came with it were a little blander then hoped for. The prime rib sandwich was very tasty and fries have great seasoning on them. The deserts of brownie and apple crisp were both excellent! We had great service and atmosphere at parkway is always good. Steady buzz and good vibe without being too noisy.
Upon arrival, the hostess did not see our open table reservation, but since the restaurant was not full (630pm on a Saturday night) we were able to be seated. The waiter was charming and did a great job. The food was very good, the drinks tasty and well-made. The ONE PROBLEM was that the water glass brought to my husband had red lipstick on it. YES HE WAS GIVEN A DIRTY GLASS filled with water. While shocking, the waiter quickly remedied the situation after it was discovered (more than a few sips.) The music was a tad bit loud, the tables put together with not quite enough room around them-- the restaurant floor, the bathroom, and the tables not quite as clean as I would prefer. We may, perhaps, return, but with so many other joints doing it better on The Plaza, we probably won't.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Highly recommend.
Always enjoy the food and easy, peasy mood of the restaurant.
Sometimes it gets so loud though that it is hard to have a conversation..new pet peeve.
Nemo was amazing. From the moment we walked in, it was amazing! Love this place.
I would say the beginning of our night there didn't start off well. I was served a glass of wine filled with cork and a dead bug in it. I asked the waiter for another glass and instead of apologizing he just said "oh ok". When he came back there were still bits of cork in my wine so my guess is they just scooped out the bug and sent back my same glass. It is what it is and I hate complaining so I just sucked it up and drank it and moved on. My boyfriend got the trout and I got the salmon. They were both very good and we enjoyed our meals. I would probably go again but I definitely wasn't impressed with how the waiter handled my wine situation.
Food was great service wasn’t the best
We have been to the previous restaurant in that location and was not impressed. So, trying Parkway Social Kitchen, our expectations were not high. It was a good choice for us and far exceeded our expectations and we will certainly visit again. I was a bit disappointed as we made reservations and included we were celebrating my wife's birthday...there was no acknowledgement. But overall, everything was great and we will be back.
Great food... and we were there early enough it wasn’t loud.
Good but not great.
I was upset with how it went. Would not recommend.
Sunday morning brunch was excellent in every way possible. Service provided by Kit was exceptional for the four adults and one 4 year old very curious boy. Suggested by my daughter (mid-30's) and my son's girlfriend (mid-20's) who both highly recommended Parkway, No I can to (mid-60's).
Biscuits cold made day old
Cinnimum role from a can
Food was great. I had the brussel sprout salad with salmon, and loved it. I can't wait to come back to get it again. My kids had standard stuff (chicken tenders and hamburger) both of which were good portion, and looked like good quality. Good drink selection.
It was very loud and they were busy with only two servers working so service was a bit slow for my liking
Beautiful place. Food was pretty good but not great. Like bright booth by window. Waiter came by way too often.
Great server. Really liked the food. Small restaurant. We had obnoxious people right next to us at bar (we were at a table). I wish manager had controlled them more. This is a weird place to just drink. I am all for drinking but weird place, weird time.
The tater tots are not all that. More like fried mashed potato balls. The scallop special was amazing. Trout was great. Cilantro shrimp great. Chicken strips good as well.
I would return to this restaurant. I like the feel of the restaurant and the food.
Great food and service but we did not enjoy the dinner after the restaurant opened the windows and the restaurant was flooded with the 85 degree heat and humidity. It was not a comfortable environment after that. It really effected my family’s ability to enjoy the time we spent together at the restaurant. Too bad.
Service very slow. Waiter didn’t know very much about the menu and wanted to compare this restaurant to Houston’s. We didn’t go there to eat at a Houston’s “wanna be” chain. We were looking for something local and unique.
The food was very good and the waiters were all very friendly. Our kids loved it and we all had a good time. Cool environment as well.
Loved this place. The tater tots and gourmet grilled cheese were the choices of the evening, and they did not disappoint! Our service was wonderful and the wine selection was plenty. We loved our time and I can’t wait to come back and try more of the amazing options on the menu!
Thank you so much for all of the love! Look forward to seeing you again!
A quiet Sunday evening with a guest from out of town, this was the first time I have dined at this location since it changed ownership or name. We were pleasantly surprised with the meal trout blackened and the beer selections were local and cold! I would have liked to have draft beers but the bottled beer were fine. I would recommend as the location is great in the Kansas City Plaza.
Blackened Trout is delicious! Thanks for joining us on your night out on the town, we can't wait to have you back!
Took my husband to Parkway: Social Kitchen for Father's Day brunch. We enjoyed the ahi tuna appetizer and split the prime rib sandwich. They were delicious but the best, in my opinion, was the flight of peach-flavored bellinis. :-) We decided to try sitting on the patio for our next visit.
Thanks for the glowing review! We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Stay tuned in for our seasonal selections of Mimosas on our brand new flights!
Our server Paul was wonderful! So attentive and friendly, I cannot recommend Paul enough. The kitchen was slow but when our food did finally come, it was surprisingly good. Paul really did steal the show, thank you Paul for such great service!
Thanks for the input, we are very proud of our service staff and positive growth we have seen since we opened in 2017. We are striving to achieve and deliver the best service and experience available on the Country Club Plaza and your feedback helps us stay on track. Stop by soon and feel free to request a table in Paul's section, cheers!
This review is about dining (as a late night bar, I hear the music scene is fun). I ate early on a Sat evening, they had the Guns and Roses turned up as if it was a bit later.. The food was very ordinary (brussell sprout salad, and grilled salmon entree). The server was pleasant, but messed up the order (forgot to submit one of the entree orders and brought the wrong cocktail), so I waited for the late entree and let the other folks dig in. 15 min later, I received my flash cooked salmon. It was nicely browned on the outside, but raw in the middle. It was cooked completely differently than the other salmon entree that showed up on time (it appeared that that heat had been turned up and cooked a lot more quickly). And no, despite the multiple order screw-ups, there was no attempt to comp and/or acknowledge the poor service/food.
The whole experience was alright, but not outstanding. I made the reservation as a Birthday celebration and nobody acknowledged that it was my husband's birthday when we got there. The server's attitude was "meh" about just about everything. When he finally said anything, it was a tepid "oh, happy birthday" right when we were leaving. There were gnats in the ahi tuna dish. The bread on the turkey apple brie sandwich was way too thick. The sandwich itself was an amazing mix of tastes, but there was too much bread. If it was very thin panini style bread, it would have been outstanding. The fig old-fashioned was fabulous, according to my husband. Can't say we're going to hurry to go back. It was a "meh" experience.
Terrific food! Waiter was friendly and attentive! Crowded and a bit noisy but a wonderful dining experience
We were able to get a booth next to the open window wall and it was fantastic. As someone who can’t have dairy, our server was knowledgeable in the adjustments that could be made for each dish. And the bartender made a mean Aperol Spritz! I would go back anytime! The roasted sweet potatoes were perfect! I ended up ordering a salad (because it sounded good) and I was impressed.
Friendly accommodating staff. Great service and food, varied menu, sat outside which made for a good atmosphere. Total bill in line with expectations and enjoyment. Will definitely return.

Cool place and good food but never quite gets to Houston’s level.
Great food, big portions and our server was super friendly!
Thank you for the glowing review! We look forward having you back--and if you haven't visited our Lounge, that's a great opportunity to do so! Great for a weekend dinner reservations or private events.
Go for the bar and live music on Friday and Saturday; but I won't be going back for food/service.
This place has good food, management is on top of everything and very dedicated to your experience/needs. The atmosphere is classy, nice place to eat and have a conversation exclusively. Establishment is clean and sanitized.
Average experience. Good customer service with average food. We had the burger, the tots, the crab cakes, and the chicken tacos. Everything was good, but nothing stood out. I doubt we’ll be back with so many better restaurants nearby.
I love that it’s Houston’s chefs!!!
I have eaten at Parkway Social Kitchen several times and each time the food , service and atmosphere was
great . It’s good to make reservations , they do get busy , but if you decide at the last minute you can often squeeze in the bar area . Try Parkway , you won’t be disappointed !
Hello travelnow, Thank you so much for the glowing review! Indeed the bar can get busy, we'll do our best to squeeze you in for sure, even if we have to add extra bar chairs! We look forward having you back in the bar, restaurant or for a private event in our Lounge. Contact me for events or reservations alike! -Bryan
Loved the stuffed tots and the prime rib tacos
We do love those Pepper Jack cheese stuffed Tater Tots too! They remain our number one seller, hands down! *Nom nom!*
