What Insiders Are Saying
A semi-upscale and crowd-pleasing Italian spot in the middle of Dirty 6th.
Great food and service! We never had to wait to ask for anything we needed.
The Oyster platter and Steak tartare were both incredible. My table ordered the strip steak, porkchop, and salmon and all three were terrific but somewhat modest portions. We also ordered the asparagus to share and it was excellent.
It was very expensive, but the quality was there. If you have the money to spend on a meal like this, Parkside is a great option.
Went for Happy Hour when entire menu was 1/2 price. Even so it felt pricey, but this was our first meal in Austin where prices are high. We had fun, the brick walls added a cool vibe. Very laid back & funky.
Had a Caesar salad, which had to go back as there were croutons when I requested it gluten free. It was good, not memorable. Had the grilled asparagus which was terrific! Also split the chilled raw seafood plate w/ 3 shrimp, a shot glass of ceviche (not GF) & 6 oysters. All fresh & delicious.
Enjoyed a Cab & TX Whiskey. The glass of wine was an avg pour & normal price was $16 (!).
Young crowd - like all of Austin. Behind the Westin on 6th St. Would return but only for Happy Hour prices
Parkside is a fun place and probably the best restaurant on dirty 6 street. It gets very crowded and that impacts the service. We had 3 of our main dishes delivered on time but the fourth took at least 30 minutes more to come out. The food was great and presented nicely on the plate. I would highly recommend Parkside as long as you know that the restaurant is probably going to be very active, loud and pricey.
Parkside never disappoints!
Awful experience beginning to end. First of all I called twice days prior to ensure we could reserve seating in the bar since it was for a party — I never got a call back. Once we got there, place was practically empty (and wreaked of fish) but they didn’t want to seat us since our whole party wasn’t there. I told her that’s why we asked to be in the bar. The hostess was so rude and reluctantly seated us. Then we ordered drinks and it took 25 minutes to get our first drink. (One of our friends went up to the bar and was served in 2 minutes). Then the food was just meh. We left as soon as everyone got there. Horrible service, mean hostess, long wait for no reason and bad food. Will not go back.
The best service - thank you for making it such a memorable celebration!
We had a group of 6 for our reservation. They initially tried to cram us into a table that was made for a group of 4 and when we asked for more room, they were very rude. The food portions are extremely small, but most of the dishes were very tasty. Drinks took a long time to be served and all of the sides came out after we finished the entire meal. To which we were told “they can be desert”. Overall a terrible experience and extremely overpriced. Wouldn’t go back.
Great restaurant in the heart of 6th St.
I wish I could give six stars! Our party of 8 on Sunday evening were celebrating the completion of the MS150 and had a fantastic time! Everyone loved the food, wine and cocktails, looked after by Sarah, and with the 50% early bird discount, we had a memorable evening! Thank you Parkside!
Great experience, really good food, and ambiance. The staff took great care of us and assured we had a great time.
We were sat in the back near the bathrooms. The area is darker than one would expect. The candle light would have been helpful if the candle could stay lit.
The service was par for the area and the food was “okay”. The New York steak was cooked adequately and the grilled fennel was interesting but nothing exceptional. Sides were expensive and really didn’t live up to the hype. A medium cooked burger was child sized and charcoaled to death fries were over cooked and dry.
Overall. Not our best Austin meal.
Overpriced with very small portions, the decor is average. The bartender charged me for a 15yrs single malt after serving me a 12 yrs. No mistake because the bar was empty. The sides to share are a joke. Food is good, but if you are looking for more, go to some other place for the same price.
Great food - terrible service. Bar felt like they resented serving us. Waited almost 30 minutes past reservation to be seated. Martinis were ridiculously delayed and came out warm. No share plates provided before appetizers. Food took a long time to arrive. Nice place, nice product, but obviously struggling.
Great value. Very good service. Staff was creative in dealing with a larger party than originally planned. We will consistently bring out of town visitors to this 6th street treasure.
We visited this past weekend. It had a cool vibe and was in a great location.
Great happy hour. French fries were great.
Our waiter was very attentive and helpful at making choices. More fresh options would have been nice.
Great food and service. Drinks are a little overpriced for size.
Our waiter was fabulous. The food was great. Had to wait a bit to get our first cocktail.
Parkside used be our go to for great food and service. However tonight was a complete disappointment. We had to ask for menus, plates and water. So sad to see such a great restaurant decline like this.
Great place to grab a nice dinner on 6th street. Food was delicious and would definitely go back again.
We loved the food, our server, and the drinks. A bit noisy due to its structure- cavernous. Would recommend to friends. Food presentation picture-worthy!
We were a large table and everything was truly wonderful and a food experience rather than a dinner
Good wine selection. Bone marrow was very tasty- almost took the bones with us
Parkside is an unique experience with craft but “different” cocktails and an ever changing menu. Menu offers a some variety but small overall. Starters, salads and dessert were excellent! Main courses were small and just ok. Overall it was a good experience with our friends from out of town although definitely expensive.
My fiancé and I celebrated our new engagement at Parkside and were blown away by the food, service, & the dessert/champagne toast they brought us to celebrate. They really made our night special.
If you don’t mind bad service and are just going somewhere for the food, then yeah this place is ok. Pricey but decent food. The service was absolute garbage tho so we left with a bad taste in our mouths
Parkside's Happy Hour is the best in Austin! Everything is always delicious. My favorites are the ceviche, the burger and the mac n'cheese!!! Love the bread and butter too!
Our waitress was not interested in our table of 5. She was slow to take food and drink orders. She also didn’t inform us when happy hour was over. ( There was confusion. A recent Eater AUSTIN article showed HH running until 630. The waitress curtly informed us at 620 that is was over at 6pm.) I usually love Parkside but this was a disappointment. And the oysters weren’t as yummy as they normally are. We had a $350+ tab. Disappointing for sure.
The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back.
The waiter forgot to put in our entree order, so we waited for 90min until realizing our order was forgotten. The appetizers were cold and bread was hard as a rock. Not my best dining experience.
The food was tiny for the chicken plate. I would not recommend it for $26 when the fish plates were MUCH bigger. The servers and bus people kept trying and in fact multiple times took utensils like my fork or knife away and tried to take my plate away mid bite! They seemed to be wanting to rush our entire meal and we had wine, food, and dessert. What the heck, stop rushing people! This was a very disappointing meal and please in the future, don't take people's plates away so quickly and explain how small the chicken is, I was NOT full at all by the end of the meal.
was 5 minutes early for a 3 ppl reservation with business client in town for SXSW. waited 15 minutes to be told we could wait 10 mire minutes (!) or take a 2 top converted to a 3 top. We were limited on time so we took the 2 top- big mistake. so noisy with other dinners to the immediate left and right and the table was in fact too small. food was only okay due to kitchen being slammed and waiter was good but tardy. Parkside can do better.
Still one of Austin’s very best. Don’t let the location on dirty 6th dissuade you. Consistently great.
Service was extremely slow, and the dining room wasn’t crowded.
Not sure what happened. But the overall experience was less than stellar. We’ve been coming since it first opened. And it was our fave restaurant. But tonight made it our least favorite.
Food was mediocre. Whereas before it was amazing. Service was less than. Our server was not engaging and almost fake or artificial. Didn’t feel genuine at all.
We asked for bread and it was good but then asked for butter and she said it was frozen. Ummmm - a restaurant can’t soften butter. The entre ordered promised chicken and when it came, I at first couldn’t find the chicken. Then oops there were three pieces of roasted chicken which by the way was quite good. However - seriously 3 pieces? For $27? Wow.
And on top of that - the music was overwhelming and we had to hear bad rap and current hot hits - felt like we were at a Denny’s. Need to rethink the music in what should be a higher scale restaurant. Trying way too hard to be hip. You already are.
All and all it was super disappointing. And costly. And no longer our fave Austin place. So sad.
We love Parkside. Great service and awesome happy hour.
Awesome dining experience during happy hour and even beyond! Food is exceptional, employees are top notch but the pastry chef....well, I bow down! I'm awestruck with his Baked Alaska creation. Simply To Die For! The only drawback for this senior citizen was the horrible noise factor during happy hour which got a bit better around 8:30. Screaming across the 2-person table to have a conversation is not something I understand and hope something in the future can be done about it.
Service, food and drinks were all wonderful. Can't wait to go back!
Much better places to dine in town than Parkside. Food was good but portions were ridiculous. Service and attentiveness could be much improved - start with your hostess.
