Parkside, a gastro pub in Austin’s lively downtown area is home to chef/owner Shawn Cirkiel. Located directly on Sixth Street it offers a casual venue for his unpretentious, but bold take on New American Cuisine. Offerings include a sumptuous raw bar—which often carries as many as 12 varieties of oysters. While the menu changes seasonally—even daily--diners can enjoy both dramatic dishes like seared scallops with butternut puree, jalapeno, and lime or comfort basics such as a cheeseburger or fried egg sandwich. Parkside accepts a limited number of reservations and reserves a section of the restaurant for walk-in guests each night. Seating is done on a first-come, first serve basis. All parties must be complete prior to being seated.

Took 25 minutes to get drinks, side dishes came out before our entrees, food was cold and portions were very small. Server was friendly but other than that this place was terrible.

The crab chowder was so tasty, and a work of art. The seared salmon was perfectly cooked. It was a very busy and crowded Sat. Night. Even with a reservation, we had to wait 15-20 for a table for two. Hostess gave us complimentary glasses of champagne as an appology for our wait. Classy apology.

Waitress was rushed - not engaged and drinks were delivered 10-15 minutes after being ordered .. The pour on a glass of wine was very short over several glasses . Positive was the food the salmon, chicken and steak served were prepared perfectly .. Restuant had one large party and was very loud

Not great. Unclear policies and unfriendly service. Won’t be back despite how good the food was. Wouldn’t recommend.

This is our new favorite restaurant downtown. Everything seems perfect. The oysters are a really nice touch, but the entire menu is creative without being weird. Good Food. Enough said.

The service was a little spotty, it took us about 10 minutes and twice asking for our server to finally greet us. One he was there, he was very hospitable. The food was excellent and high quality. I had this reservation tied with a $50 dining reward but the restaurant said "it did not work" so be aware if trying to use a reward here. Overall, I would recommend and go again because the excellent food made up for the negatives.

Really good food and service and a must return visit. Unfortunately there were several large parties and difficult to have a conversation.

Good variety of vegetarian options, unfortunately most dishes were way oversalted, but beet salad and gnocchi starters were very good. Felt like we were inconveniencing the staff every time we spoke to them from seating to serving. Watch out for servers...after ordering more food than we ended up being able to eat (2 appetizers, salad and 2 entrees) she suggested we also order some main course side dishes!

What a jewel on 6th Street! From the moment we walked in, it was simply perfect. Our waiter was the very best! The drinks were delish, oysters sublime, Food exquisite. Cannot wait to return.

Great service. We were seated right away. The location was right on 6th st, but the place had a nice vibe...not dirty 6th. Food was good and the cocktails too.

We had a great experience for Valentine’s Day. Great food, a great waiter (Kate), and they were very flexible with us even though we were 30 minutes late for our reservation. Would definitely recommend! .. already have!

Enjoyed our time at Parkside, pretty mellow night at the bar. Service was a little slow but then warmed up to one of the bartenders which was nice to chat with him! not overly impressed but all in all it was a good experience

Service from Rose was impeccable. She interpreted our interests and made menu suggestions accordingly. Very knowledgeable of the food and bar menu. Enjoyed the open atmosphere of the restaurant. Menu was varied — raw bar was obviously the star but everything else balanced and full of flavor. Highly recommend the bone marrow. Will be back again.

Great cocktails and wine selection
Great mac n cheese
Everything else was take it or leave it
Pork was dry and salmon was okay, broccoli had too much mustard? On it
Crab bisque was good but lacking in substance
Kind of fits the mold of high dollar and mediocre quality. Only reason to revisit here would be macnchz and drinks

Parkside never disappoints.
Favorites this time: ceviche, crab fritters, crab chowder.
Love that the calamari is lighter and not greasy.
Really liked the large broccoli side with horseradish sauce.

Food was okay. Nice to finally see a upscale restaurant on 6th Street. The service was poor. Maybe their first fine restaurant position. Give it time they will either grow into a great place or close.

Parkside has a nice, upscale atmosphere along with unique, creative dishes and drinks. The service is very friendly with generous offers to match tastes with particular dishes. The kitchen is willing to prepare your meal to your liking.

Most of the vegetarian courses were tasty, although the miso butternut squash soup entree was a bit bland (perhaps it needed more miso). The mac and cheese and the broccoli were delicious, and the green salad was quite nice. Everyone else seemed happy with their food. Our cheerful waiter was great. We were a group of six friends and it was simply too noisy and the table was too long and narrow to have a group conversation, so I don’t think we would return at peak times or with more than four people.

Service and food are consistently excellent. As new restaurants come and go in Austin, Parkside continues to be a place I'd rather go back to than hit the new places.

Fabulous food. Terrific selection of east coast oysters and other raw bar items. Scallop dish was wonderful - fresh, sweet scallops with a richer accompaniment of mushrooms, ancient grains and greens. Bartenders are friendly and informative. Just a wonderful experience from start to finish.

We liked the ambiance of the restaurant. However, all of our food came out cold and it was disappointing. My friends also got steaks and asked for them Medium, but they were very under-cooked. Even when they sent them back they still came back quite rare. The service was also pretty slow. It wasn't a terrible experience, but I probably wouldn't go back.

Parkside never disappoints. Our server Kate was excellent - knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. The gnocchi was delicate and delicious and the acorn squash is a definite “don’t miss” side dish. Incredible. We will definitely book again, and will definitely ask for Kate.

We always enjoy Parkside. They have great raw food... Have a few oysters and then some steak tartare. Always pleasant. I really enjoy the attitude adjustment cocktail. We usually have the first drink at the bar and watch them shuck oysters. Somewhat casual and usually interesting people watching.

We were looking forward to our NY’s eve dinner at Parkside, having been recommended by our hotel’s Concierge. The restaurant was cozy and inviting, but the food and service was disappointing. It took over 30 minutes for our amuse biuche to be delivered. Our waiter was friendly, but it took him three times to get my appetizer delivered correctly. When it arrived, the peekytoe crab bruschetta was sitting on a cold piece of toast that you could barely slice through and it also lacked flavor. We were let down that the pasta dish consisted of only one piece of agnolotti (albeit a delicious one). Our sirloin steak was tough and about 2 inches long. The wine pairings were delicious and much enjoyed. For the price we paid, we did not think we received good value for what we expected to be a delicious meal.

Good, but fixed meal for New Years with very, very small portions @ $70 per person. Expected better for the amount we spent. My wife didn’t like the New York strip, and it was a very small piece, maybe 2-3 ounces. We were disappointed overall.

Excellent food and cocktails in a darling little restaurant in heart of downtown. We took two kids, still received great service, and the burgers were perfect for them.
