About Park Tavern
With an exciting mix of vintage fixtures, comfortable furnishings, and handsome textures, Park Tavern is an elegant spin on a North Beach neighborhood classic. Owner Anna Weinberg and designer Kendra Nicholas of Park Interiors collaborated to divide the room into unique, dedicated spaces -- the handsome marble bar, the terra cotta floored cafe with windows that open onto the patio facing Washington Park, the comfortable dining room with tufted leather banquettes, and an open kitchen with a chef’s counter.
Park Tavern will showcase Chef Partner Jennifer Puccio's talents with delicious American bistro classics and emphasize seafood from a wood burning oven. Expect boldly flavored dishes that you'll want to eat several times a week.
Serving up classic cocktails with the candor and character of an old friend, you won't find any overly fancy mixology here. But when it comes to wines, you find something for everyone!

After three consecutive and declining visits over the past 2 years, I'm done. The elegant, but punchy bistro quality has come and gone in the masses and we're left with yet another overpriced new-american, farm-to-table, dining factory in North Beach. My steak was overcooked, the creamed kale a disgusting fried mess, the butter was a warmed puck from the refrigerator. As they try to keep the profits up, all the good chefs and staff have come and gone, and left behind the recipes for interpretation and eventual cost cutting. Who cares about quality, people keep coming!
After reading the reviews on Yelp, I was looking forward to a very nice meal. I ordered the pork chop and was not very impressed with presentation or flavors. My bf ordered a burger-again not anything amazing. The service was alright, but I felt more that we were burden to our server than anything else. She was pleasant, but that was it. The hostesses were more accommodating than she. Last time we come here for a $100 meal.
My family and I had brunch at Park Tavern and it was a wonderful experience. The waiter was kind, patient, and welcoming. The restaurant as a whole was nicely laid out and spacious. The food was delicious and they offered a few really unique menu items. I highly recommend the huckleberry fritters and the egg dish that comes in a cast iron skillet. If I am ever back in San Francisco, I would definitely eat at Park Tavern again.
We had fun and a lovely dinner last Saturday at Park Tavern. Thank you for having valet parking, although, we Ubered over. We were greeted upon arrival and seated for our 6:45pm reservation. I am certain, by the lively bar and restaurant, that you always need reservations. It is reminiscent of a posh bistro with all the dark finishes, marble and mirrors. It feels like another time and place. James was our server and he was initially spot on and friendly which I don't expect with SF waiterstaff. We devoured homemade bread since we had been shopping all day and ordered wine and cocktails. The menu is interesting and efficient with selections. We wanted to try several things and decided to split a few items. We started with the pomegranate/persimmon salad which was simple and delish with bleu cheese. My beau ordered the cheese plate which had housemade orange marmalade and an apple, ginger? jam along with the selection of cheeses and housemade crackers which were delicious alone. It was so wonderful; would be perfect after work with a friend and a bottle of wine. Our entree was the Wagyu beef filet with pommes. Perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth, delicious steak. The broccolini was excellent, too. The pommes were a bit flat; skipped them. We should have ordered duck fat frites. We are not dessert fanatics, however, if YOU are, ask to peek at the dessert menu first. We did look and the desserts sounded decadent and seasonally appropriate. James got a bit busy covering valet?, yes, that's right; at least he was honest. For mid service, things stalled a bit. I said to my beau, "Should we be concerned that our server is outside manning valet right now?" Whoever made that decision should rethink coverage on a very busy Saturday evening. All in all, we are still dreaming of Wagyu and are looking forward to dining at Park Tavern again.
Really enjoyed having brunch with friends. Tasty, well prepared and presented dishes, such as the Shrimp and Grits, Polenta with poached eggs, Huckleberry fritters, yum. Very attentive service as well. Only negative, the noise level was such that we had to eat and run to another venue for coffee afte the meal.
Good, but not great. We were happy with a seat by the kitchen and loved the ambiance of the restaurant. We were treated to a free glass of champagne for celebrating our anniversary as well. The starters were good but our mains lacked flavor, my steak was overcooked and the waiter seemed to never be around (even with us next to the kitchen). It took ages for our plates to be cleared after the appetizer and we would have to wave him down if we needed something else. I desperately wanted salt for my main course (not a good sign!), but by the time we got his attention it wasn't worth asking for.
The place would be nice to rent out for a large private party and I'm sure they'd do great finger food - but I wouldn't come back for a date or celebration.
The restaurant prides itself on innovative cuisine and delivers, but unfortunately - nothing I could enjoy. 99% of the dishes on the menu were spicy or with pork, neither of which work for me. The only vegetable dishes that didn't have chili or pepper were overly sweet yams with "meringue" (marshmallows) which I had to send back and a lemon chip dish that was dried lemon slices with a burrata that was naturally delicious. My "Ed's Negroni" was heart attack sweet but the regular gin and tonic was delicious. They do not serve bread so I left there hungry which didn't seem to concern our server. It is a busy, noisy, trendy spot good for big groups and those seeking an upscale North Beach experience just off of Washington Square. The evening was saved by our climbing up (and down) the gorgeous, literally breath-taking Filbert Steps.
Always great atmosphere at Park Tavern, and good food. The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars overall is the sort of "service with attitude" - starting with the hostess stand, they sort of make you feel like you're lucky to have a reservation. Our waiter seemed completely indifferent to giving suggestions or seeing how things were going - asked us how everything tasted when we were 80% through the meal. He had a helper bring us our check after plates were cleared without asking about coffee or anything else. Again, I guess we're supposed to be impressed to be there. There are LOTS of great restaurants in SF so people do have a choice. I will probably wait to go back, even though I love the location, atmosphere and food.

This place is like coming home! The service is fantastic --Jason was on point all night -- very attentive without being an"interrupter" -- you know what I mean! They treat you like you come every night --I love that about this place. The food is creative and tasty, but recognizable! Who wants to guess what you are being served when the menu doesn't look like the plate you just got! We loved it - we had steaks and they were cooked to perfection. Go! You will love it too.
