What Insiders Are Saying
A solid North Beach brunch option, which, get this: actually takes reservations. Don't sleep on Park Tavern.
We are repeat customers . Last night we had hosted the dinner for7 friends. While I’m fine with music playing in the background in the bar (makes for fun energy) however last night it was much louder than usual and at tables hard to have conversations. Waitress was polite but service was markedly underwhelming. We had two hours and food came out cool and two orders incorrect to our requested preparation. So the service miss coupled with difficulty to hear took away from what we have historically experienced. Usually fabulous, but the food held its own and for that we were grateful. We needed to ask for our check and our coffee order came 5 minutes after the check! So service really impacted our guests experience which was unfortunate. Hope to see improvement next time in the service, because that is key to an elevated dining experience.
Service was an absolute disaster.
This was my first time visiting the Park Tavern and the food and the service were wonderful. I can't wait to visit again and bring tons of friend with me.
Great food always, but service and integration of bar and table service lacking
Only downside was the noise level made it hard to have a normal conversation...
Ambience is great. Food is pedestrian. Nothing else to add.
Best part of the meal was scalloped potatoes. Had 2 bites of everything else, left most on plates and nobody ever asked if everything was fine. Tables so close together we made friends at both sides of the table, terrible ambiance for spending $300 without wine for a romantic Valentine's. Learn by mistakes so we will not return.
The food here is always great. The service is always very meh. Come for the food- not the service experience!
Food was wonderful. Poulett & Pork Chop divine. Service perfection. Highly recommended
Great spot for lunch OR dinner, food is always good. I use to live in the neighborhood and it was our go-to spot!
Great experience! The food was delicious and the service outstanding. The setting is lovely--dark wood, low light, beautiful tile, warm and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Always fantastic.
Delicious food - great vibe. Went for brunch - limited menu. but everything we had was amazing. Best over easy eggs I’ve ever had - yolk for days!
Ian and our service was amazing!
I enjoyed the brunch immensely! so great I can't wait to visit again
Great experience!
Stumbled across this place, as being close to concert location (Bimbo's). Vibrant crowd. Good service. We really liked the food. We will return!
I’ve been here before and had excellent service and food for business meetings, however last night the food was terrible service was terrible and I couldn’t wait to get out of there
very very good stuff. go here for date night mondays. get the chicken
WeMade reservation at 9pm and we did not get out table until almost 10pm. Very late .
Ordered the sea bass dish and it was not cooked at the way . Middle part was raw \pink all the way . I had to send it back and since we got the table late ,By the time I got dinner was too late to ask for another one .
Disipointing on these two things.
Made reservations for an outside table for 3 at 1:00 with a person in a wheelchair, arrived early, but still no outside table by 1:10. Ate inside but very noisy
Food and service were fantastic. Attentive, but not overbearing and did not rush us out. It's a bit noisy, but you get accustomed to it.
The food is good and the service is pretty good. The problem is the noise level. It is nearly impossible to hear one another, even with a small party of four. The pasta that was served to us was only lukewarm. The other dishes were fine. The wine list is excellent.
Was As good as ever. Been a year since our last meal here. The brussel sprout chips as awesome as ever. The chicken was of the hook as always. Drinks were special as always.
Go. With it. Always
I wouldn’t recommend to anyone due to impossible noise level.
Second time there. Food good as last time. Didn't realize we would be charged nearly 10$ for sparkling water, but I know some places do that. Service was prompt and attentive. Salad and shrimp app were the best part of the meal.
Wasn't too thrilled when they turned the lights down so low that we could barely see the food.
As a result I was unable to see to trim the fat off my porkchop.
Play at the Golden Gate Theater. Good food. Good service. Noise level was a little loud. I will return.
Met 6 friends from LA for brunch. Food was fine but sever was very unaccommodating to help find something for my husband who can’t swallow due to his cancer treatments. We asked if they could make one of their smoothies without the bourbon and he said “no” because it was a pre-made mix. Then we asked for a simple smoothie (vanilla ice cream and milk) but he said they couldn’t do that either. So my husband had nothing and sat there watching all of us eat. That sucked.
Brunch!! The flavor explosions are out of this world. I’ve had dreams about the polenta cakes. It’s earthy and gooey and truffled all over. Pro tip: sit at the bar & order the Nothing Really to drink.
Mussel dish was disappointing. Smallest mussels ever, way too much Farro and too spicy (and I like spicy food)
Burgers shrimp,, soup, and salad were good.
Shrimp appetizer came out w 3 shrimp, for $18! later the waiter saw the problem and fixed it, but why he didn’t notice when serving was lame.
Overall the space is great but I live near Marlowe and will tolerate noise there because they have excellent service.
The restaurant was recommended by a local friend for a business dinner. Great lively atmosphere with an easy noise level for conversation (towards front windows). Service and server were excellent - food came out very quick. Enjoyed the brussel sprouts chips and PT fries starters, but the wagyu jerky was tougher in texture, a little subtle in taste. Excellent flavors on the trout entree, the halibut (or seabass?), and the rich ravioli entree. Don't miss the coffee creme brulee!
Bit was just ok. Over priced for the quality. Too noisy - couldn’t carry on a conversation. Would not go back.
Wonderful food and stupendous service, always! Heather was our friendly server who was warm and extremely knowledgable. The poulet noir was incredible and, my favorite of all, the "birthday cake" on their dessert menu was to die for. I am a local in the area and definitely will be back time and time again. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and evening!
the service was terrific. the food was delicious. my party of four was able to enjoy our meal and have a nice conversation. we walked out, commenting how pleasant our dinner was. we all would return and recommend the restaurant to others.
way to dark~! this isnt a romance restaurant - service was slow then rapid - wife asked them to slow down - waiter was a nice guy - food overall seemed tired - music was too loud and I'm a rock guitarist but this didnt work - will likely come back - Saturday night can lose details
Food was ok.
Steaks were cold and we sent them back. When they came back they were tough.
I will go back. It was a off night for them.
Great ambiance and service. The food tasted good but under performing on the cooking. Got the seabass beans were undercooked and gave me lots of gas. In contrast greens were overcooked.
It gets kind of noisy but staff was friendly abd accommodated our quiet table requests
Absolutely top-notch, one of San Francisco’s best restaurants.
Service was exceptional. Place was crowded, staff attentive food prepared exactly as requested, and very good. Quality of service and food will have us returning.
As usual, the Park Tavern didn’t disappoint. One of my go-to SF spots.
