Park Tavern - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
If you're heading to the United Center to catch a game, this is a great place to grab a bite. When I'm in town for business, I always eat at Park Tavern. The food is very good, and portion size is quite adequate. For slightly smaller portions yet very tasty, I highly recommend the street tacos. Be sure to make reservations, especially if there is a Blackhawks or Bulls game in town -- it'll be busy.
Chose this restaurant as a pre-Bulls game destination as we have eaten at most of the restaurants near the stadium and wanted to try something new. Upon arriving, knew it was a poor choice. No ambiance, felt like eating at a Chili’s. Sat us next to a table right next to a family and when we asked to be moved to a booth, they did accommodate, but with a bit of an attitude. Not horrible, but certainly not memorable or worthy of a 2nd visit.
First time there and loved it!! Will go back. Convenient parking and location to United Center made the night so easy!! LOVED our service and waiter, Chris. Great recommendations and food was excellent. Brought my mom (one not easily pleased often) and she too was won over!! Thanks to Jerry (on the shuttle) for such timely to/from service to the show. KEEP up the great food, service and convenience...we WILL be back!!
Good location near United Center, but no parking behind it anymore. They'll give you a validation for garage across the street on north side of Jackson (eastbound) for $5 parking - though mine came out as $11 - maybe because we got there at 4 for a 7:30 game.
No happy hour on game nights.
Shuttle to the UC.
My fiancé and I made reservations for the night along for other plans we had. We were late to the rest of our reservation plans because at park tavern our order was never place in. About an hour later I notice well the place is getting less pack so how long more is food taking. I ask a different waiter because I never saw the waiter that took our order, and the other waiter said he was going to check it out. Manager came and told us our food had not been placed in but he was going to take care of it. After our food was finally brought to us the manager came ones to our table to ask if everything was okay, yet I expected some kind of discount or so because we were starving and waiting for a whole hour for our food and on top of that we were late to our other reservation for the night. It has been the worse service I have ever received in any restaurant.
This is a great location for any events at the United Center. Food is phenomenal. Great portions. And they offer a FREE shuttle to and from the United Center. We went to a concert this time but will definitely be back for other occasions. Have visited a few times and the food is always delicious.
Went based on reviews and found the place to be very nice. Had a good time catching up with friends. It was not very crowded on a Friday evening, which was fine as we were able to talk and laugh with out being disrupted or disrupting. Of note, the waiter was periodically absent and noticeably inattentive. At one point a spider crawled on the table and a friend killed it. When the waiter was told he was very blasé about it and could care less of the distress or implications. After being gone another long spell another, I went to the bar to request a drink refill be brought to the table. Another waiter showed up & took over without introduction. When asked, he said the first waiter had an emergency and had to leave. Seemed like that would have been the first thing to say. Anyway, he was equally unimpressed about the spider. And not that we wanted or needed anything comped on the bill, it would have been nice to at least apologize on behalf of the Restaurant or something. Despite that, the food was tasty, the ambiance pleasant, & I may return.
We love Park Tavern for pre Hawks game fun. Yummy food, great service and so convenient for UC events. Outside seating and even Bags for more fun. Our server Saturday night was outstanding. We return again and again to this place and always have a good experience.
I booked a reservation at Park Tavern so that we could use their shuttle to and from The United Center for Cirque du Soleil. Unfortunately, the shuttle wasn't running because there weren't enough interested parties, but we ordered food regardless. I was still full from lunch, so I just ordered beer. The bartender was knowledgable and offered me tastes of every type of beer I may like (ambers, ales, porters). It's always nice to try before you buy. My son ordered the Mexibano sandwich and they allowed him to "special order" it by removing the sauces and cheese and adding tomatoes. It was delicious (and probably even more so with its intended condiments lol). I spoke with two different server/bartenders while we dined and both were extremely friendly and fun to talk with. After dinner, we went out on their patio to play some lawn games they have out there. It was not busy at all at the time, and we had a very nice experience at Park Tavern.
Conveniently located near the United Center, free shuttle service which is great. Host was very helpful and accommodating. We wanted to watch a baseball game and he went out of his way to seat us near a television, put the game on. Beer was great, food was fine, generous portions.
Park Tavern missed the most basic elements of hospitality ~ Friday night pre-concert chaos is understandable but no table service for over 15 minutes (and not until after begging via a busboy flagdown) and no napkins, silverware presented - even when appetizers arrived? Wow. Icing on the cake was being scolded by Open Table for not showing up for our reservation. I'm thinking it was Park Tavern who chose not to show for this reservation. Bummer ~
