Park Tavern - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
This is a great location for any events at the United Center. Food is phenomenal. Great portions. And they offer a FREE shuttle to and from the United Center. We went to a concert this time but will definitely be back for other occasions. Have visited a few times and the food is always delicious.
Went based on reviews and found the place to be very nice. Had a good time catching up with friends. It was not very crowded on a Friday evening, which was fine as we were able to talk and laugh with out being disrupted or disrupting. Of note, the waiter was periodically absent and noticeably inattentive. At one point a spider crawled on the table and a friend killed it. When the waiter was told he was very blasé about it and could care less of the distress or implications. After being gone another long spell another, I went to the bar to request a drink refill be brought to the table. Another waiter showed up & took over without introduction. When asked, he said the first waiter had an emergency and had to leave. Seemed like that would have been the first thing to say. Anyway, he was equally unimpressed about the spider. And not that we wanted or needed anything comped on the bill, it would have been nice to at least apologize on behalf of the Restaurant or something. Despite that, the food was tasty, the ambiance pleasant, & I may return.
We love Park Tavern for pre Hawks game fun. Yummy food, great service and so convenient for UC events. Outside seating and even Bags for more fun. Our server Saturday night was outstanding. We return again and again to this place and always have a good experience.
I booked a reservation at Park Tavern so that we could use their shuttle to and from The United Center for Cirque du Soleil. Unfortunately, the shuttle wasn't running because there weren't enough interested parties, but we ordered food regardless. I was still full from lunch, so I just ordered beer. The bartender was knowledgable and offered me tastes of every type of beer I may like (ambers, ales, porters). It's always nice to try before you buy. My son ordered the Mexibano sandwich and they allowed him to "special order" it by removing the sauces and cheese and adding tomatoes. It was delicious (and probably even more so with its intended condiments lol). I spoke with two different server/bartenders while we dined and both were extremely friendly and fun to talk with. After dinner, we went out on their patio to play some lawn games they have out there. It was not busy at all at the time, and we had a very nice experience at Park Tavern.
Conveniently located near the United Center, free shuttle service which is great. Host was very helpful and accommodating. We wanted to watch a baseball game and he went out of his way to seat us near a television, put the game on. Beer was great, food was fine, generous portions.
Park Tavern missed the most basic elements of hospitality ~ Friday night pre-concert chaos is understandable but no table service for over 15 minutes (and not until after begging via a busboy flagdown) and no napkins, silverware presented - even when appetizers arrived? Wow. Icing on the cake was being scolded by Open Table for not showing up for our reservation. I'm thinking it was Park Tavern who chose not to show for this reservation. Bummer ~
The service was absolutely awful. They were out of the 3 beers my friends and I wanted - any time we picked a new option that was also out.... we were completely ignored by our waitress. The patio seating was nice and once the food came it was great, but the service just completely ruined the experience.
The atmosphere was upbeat and delightful. Staff were friendly. I ordered the PT Bacon burger and received the BBQ bacon burger instead. When I mentioned to the waitress I didn't order a BBQ bacon burger she stated there only one bacon burger on the menu. I was confused, but thought maybe I read the menu wrong. Come to find out there was a PT Bacon Burger and a BBQ Burger, the waitress kindly switched my burger out. It was merely okay, dry, and too tough to cut in half. The fries were hot and delicious and held me over. The Moscow Mules were okay, very watered down. Just an okay place close to United Center. Not too tasty.
We really enjoyed our meals...I had the brisket burger and Jules had the avacado burger. The in house smoked brisket was excellent and moist. I was kinda bummed I didn't get the brisket dinner, but next time, oh yeah. Both were well prepared and cooked to order. Fast, but not too fast. These folks have it together, and are used to getting busy fast. Host seats you, literally 30 seconds later, water is served, and your table checked, and a couple minutes later our server shows, asks if we want drinks and put in an appetizer. We chose no appetizer this time, but had some questions on drink menu, and extensive beer menu...I looked and there had to be at least 30 beers on tap. We ordered a couple cocktails, made friends with a couple at the table next to us, next you know, time to eat. For something different I ordered the tater tots as a side and they went just perfect. Dinner was a success . There was a complimentary shuttle to the concert we were attending, but we walked the few blocks...20 minutes tops, and had a great time. Before we left the restaurant validated our parking...directly across the street, and in the end , we only ended up paying $5. Unreal, a great night all around, and I made points for a tremendous date night. Almost feel like we're giving away the secret best place by the U.C. Bottom line, oh yeah, going there again....
We like this location prior to all United Center events. The parking is only $5.00 with validation (we do not take advantage of the shuttle service but know many who do- best bargain in town!). We reserve way in advance and arrive earlier than necessary as it fills fast and can get really loud inside. The food is good, and prices are very reasonable, especially compared to the United Center. Service was slow this time, but we were not in a hurry. We will continue to come here and recommend!
Overall very nice place with good food but the service was lacking. Came with a group of 12 to watch the NBA finals. The place was not full, maybe 60% capacity. First of all, there was no one at the front to greet you, take your reservation. Then the waitress was nice, but she would leave us alone for very long periods of time. At one point an hour went by and my guests wanted more drinks and she was nowhere to be seen. I eventually had to ask another waitress for the check, then she came back. Really nice hang out spot after work, good food and drinks, they just need to get better service.
We came to Park Tavern before a graduation ceremony at UIC. We decided to dine here after looking at a Google map and reviews. We had 7 adults and 2 small children and the service was outstanding. We did not dine at a peak time, but the manager (maybe owner) and the server were attentive and helpful. The food was amazing, we had 2 pizzas (one deep dish, one thin), nachos, three types of tacos and a huge buffalo chicken sandwich. The kids happily received a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Everyone loved what they ordered, drinks were refilled appropriately and the beers were ice cold. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we will definitely be going back.
