Sushi was delicious, service was very good, lovely views, of the city
Awesome atmosphere but that's about it. Appetizer came out quick but was lukewarm. Entrees came out almost 30 minutes apart, also lukewarm. I ordered sushi that was as small as nickels and more like an appetizer than an entree. This was my first visit and will be my last.
We've actually been to Park Tavern several times throughout the years, whether for ice skating or for just hanging out after the Peachtree Road Race on the 4th of July. We don't really think of Park Tavern as a place to go get dinner though. However, thanks to a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" coupon, we decided to check it out one night.
I was surprised to learn that they offer oysters and sushi, and after reading some reviews prior to dining there, the sushi is evidently pretty good. We decided to get some oysters, and they were served with house-made toasted pita chips, which I thought was a better alternative to the standard Saltine.
I opted to get the Classic American steakburger (I'd had sushi recently) and my wife got the tempura shrimp basket. She loved her meal and I was just so-so about my steakburger. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I also got a Park Tavern Summer Wheat, which was actually pretty good.
A cool promotion that I learned about while there is that if it rains (and they announce the promotion on Facebook and Twitter as "running" for that rainy day), you can get their house beers for $1 a pint.
I'd certainly go back to Park Tavern, but it's not at the top of my list. The views are terrific, but that's obviously something that appeals more to out-of-towners, tourists, and suburbanites than it does to us.
Park Tavern is not the restaurant for me. Not what I thought it would be. Will not be visiting again.
Grabbed a few drinks and food before Jazz Fest, great spot, fantastic service.
Park Tavern is the most convenient restaurant adjacent to Piedmont Park, so it made for a good launch-point for a beautiful day spent at the park. However, everything about the experience was commercial and kind of tacky, from the plastic Aquafina water bottles instead of tap water to the advertisements projected on the mirrors in the bathrooms. For a Sunday morning, right after opening, the bathrooms were also disappointingly dirty. The food was OK. Nothing to write home about, although the descriptions in the menu made it seem like it would be a lot more exciting. (I had the southern grilled cheese which had nondescript green tomatoes inside along with cheese that was supposed to be smoked cheddar but tasted like regular cheddar, and OK sweet potato fries; my husband had the steak burger which was disappointingly gristly, our friend had the sashimi bowl which was fine but not great, and our son had the chicken teriyaki which was also OK but had some gristle). For the prices, we also expected more food. For a morning family brunch, the music was overly loud, although the speaker system was good quality and sounded almost live. Like other restaurants adjacent to popular attractions (I'm thinking Times Square in New York or restaurants in the "music town" section of Nashville, Park Tavern seems overly geared toward tourists. We really wanted to love this restaurant, but we probably won't return anytime soon.
We went to Park Tavern for my daughter's 16th bday dinner with 15 friends. Girls had a great time. Service was great. The location was fantastic. Enjoyed seeing two different wedding parties. Lots of pictures with ATL skyline in background. And, price was reasonable.
Definitely recommend for a Birthday!!!
We had a party of 4 including myself, my husband and my parents who came in from out of town for my birthday. We had a reservation for 8:30pm. We got there at 8:15 and the hostess said no problem we have a table for you. Within the first 15 minutes of being there the busy inside quickly became empty which we thought would be great as far as getting food out quickly. Needless to say we ordered our meals at 8:30 and they didn't come out until 10pm and that was just the icing on top of the cake. Our food was cold. Our service was subpar. There were constant excuses as to why our food wasn't out. As I mentioned earlier by the time we ordered food there were maybe two other tables of people inside and they had already begun eating. Considering we live in midtown and this place is just a walk across the park I had high hopes but was very let down.
Park Tavern has the best view in town and the nicest service staff. We have been coming for seven years at least once a week. They have really good crafted beer, great cocktails and the food is always consistently good. Sam, the manager is a joy to be around and Michael and Patrick of the waitstaff are the best in town!
We have always had a great meal and a great time at Park Tavern. They have always accommodated our groups (6 to 12 people). There are various rooms and areas of this restaurant so you can ask to sit in the more intimate cozy bar area with great leather seating and fire place, or the open dining area that looks out onto Piedmont park and views of downtown/midtown, with an ice skating rink (set up thru mid-Feb every winter). I really like their sushi, but my husband and kids love the burgers, onion rings and fries. Great drink menu too.
Made a reservation almost 2 weeks ahead of time and when we arrived they didn't have a table ready and said they would "see if they could find enough chairs"
Enjoyable time. Ice skating line was super long and not really worth the wait but the kids loved it!
Delicious sushi and appetizers. Great drinks, wonderful view. Right in the Park setting. Really enjoyed it.
Great service and food, every time! Best view in the city
Great food, good ambience
The food was very good, I took my girlfriend there because she was craving sushi so bad. I must admit that didn't dissapoint us, it was right on point and she loved the sushi. The view of Atl skyline was beautiful as the sun set. The park was nice also. Our only complaint and biggest was the pet policy. I didn't know that you are allowed to bring your dog to the outside tent eating area. I have no problem with people and dogs however i don't believe in dogs at the dinner table especially in a public restaurant. I have pet allergies so someone did come in with 2 big dogs and sat across from from our table. I could smell dogs a mile away and being a couple of feet away really made us uncomfortable eating not to mention my allergies was starting to bother me. We both looked for other table to sit outside but there really wasn't one available and besides people kept bringing their dogs in anyway. I didn't want to move inside because it was a beautiful day outside, so we just closed our netted screen they have at sum tables and proceeded to enjoy ourselfs. I wish that there was a review saying this when i booked the table or a policy stated on website that pets are allowed. Overall great place though especially when or after it rains you get dollar house drafts all night long.
good as usual..but the HEAT did not allow us to utilize the cabana..not that its the PT fault.
everything was predictable and deliverable - service good.. Sushi - top notch.
BUT. beer seemed flat.. and steamed buns were dry.
otherwise. all good
We worked hard for our $50 gift card from Open Table and booked the Park Tavern for dinner before the Atlanta Symphony concert in Piedmont Park. It was a laughably bad dinner. We waited 20 minutes for Erica to take our order (her card was on our table so we had her name but not her). Our entrees came out quickly, but we never saw her again. 30 mins after we had finished our entrees, we asked another waiter to find Erica. She came with our check, but we had been hoping to order dessert. She seemed put out, which may have been because she was literally being run after by other diners trying to get her attention. The service was not made up for by the food. My sushi was totally without flavor, and made me a little concerned I would wake up hours later ill. My wife's chicken sandwich was dry and her fries were cold. We gave up and offered the $50 card for a $36 dinner. A total waste of all that hard work with Open Table.
My husband and I had dinner here recently on a weeknight before going for a walk on the Atlanta Beltline. There was plenty of seating and it was a beautiful day. The food and service were good, and we enjoyed ourselves. Our only complaint was the signage - it's not easy to see the sign from 10th street or Monroe (it's on the corner). Hubby passed it before finding it and I asked a cyclist in the area to point it out. There is parking onsite (for a fee), but it's worth it as it is a great place to park to access the Beltline's Eastside trail.
Parking was cumbersome and not very practical. I was a bit turned off by this as well as the entrance. The quality of the food as well as the recycling options made up for these 2 things. The food was really good. I loved the fact that there were recycling receptacle and that the to-go containers they use were biodegradable.
Kale Caesar Salad with salmon!! The best!! Yum!!
Kale Caesar Salad with salmon!! The best!! Yum!!
Michael is a wonderful server! We ask for him every time. Good was delicious as always
The food was good, fast and service excellent.Had dinner and went skating.great evening.
We celebrated my wife's birthday at Park Traven. The Salt block dinner was fun and taste delicious.
The food was great. But when I got there, they had an issue sitting me inside after I told them that I made a reservation. Then the staff there were starring at us as if we didn't belong there. It made us uncomfortable.
The sushi was a surprise standout, especially the firecracker roll. The patio ambiance with the skyline peeking over the park makes this a memorable place, which is why I wasn't expecting much from the menu. The drinks are made in house & were not watered down or overly fussy while staying interesting. The place is clearly popular for corporate events & the under 30 set.
We enjoyed our experience. The staff was great and so was the food. I brought my teenage kids and they are picky eaters but they enjoyed their meal as well. We will definitely be back.
Alot of people with there dogs or sweating after running frequent this place. So its not a great date place, or maybe 1st date if you it doesn't go well you can run away into the park.
I received a phone call 5 hours after making a reservation saying that park tavern didn't take same day reservations. There should be some sort of default in the system or note posted on reservation site that explains this.
Went for brunch with a large group of girls. Everything was good except we were smack in between the ice rink and a frozen birthday party.
Very fun and romantic. A great place to skate in the winter and sit outside in the summer and people watch.
It took 30 minutes to get our drinks. The appetizer, which we ordered with the drinks, came with our entrees. One of the entrees we ordered never actually came. This is just a sampling of the experience we had at Park Tavern. The food is tasty, for sure. But there was only one waiter in a room that was full of folks, and he was literally running from one table to another. Feeling sorry for the wait staff does not make for good ambiance. The manager paid for our drinks, but that's not nearly enough to make me want to come back.
We went to the Park Tavern to celebrate my son's birthday. Didn't really know what to expect, but what fun! All kinds of people and dogs, even on the patio where we dined. We all thought the food was delicious, the drinks yummy and the atmosphere nice and casual. Loved the people watching. We will definitely come back.
Well the hostess couldn't find the reservation in the computer and then when she told it was a party of 10 she stated that she didn't know if they any open tables inside. It was 5 pm on Friday and there was no one inside and maybe a couple of table outside. The dinner was good but the service was slow and I didn't appreciate the attitude from the hostess in the beginning
We made reservations the night before thru Open Table and then got a call the next day, approximately 90 minutes before our reservations, and were told they did not honor same day reservations, which we had not made. Regardless, what a weird policy. Just say you were overbooked and there's no table available.
We had a small celebration with a group of 10. Our seating was prompt, we even had a choice of spots to sit in. We chose the outside covered area. Some ppl were dining with their dogs, which I'm not a fan but it didn't bother me. We had prompt friendly service. We were also able to charge out quickly.
If you want to take friends/family who are visiting to the city to a unique ATL spot, Park Tavern is your place. With scenic views and specatular food, they'll be talking about this place for a while.
This is my second time at Park Tavern within the last 2 months. The food is excellent but the service is very slow. We sat down this last visit inside and the tables were nasty. It took about 20- 30 min before someone even came to our table. I'm not sure if I'll go back.
It was pretty hot where we were sitting originally. Our table was in the hot, blinding sun and we asked to be moved and were moved immediately. Food was good. Service was very good. Our server was very nice and friendly.
When we visit Atlanta we like to take our grandchildren to the Park Tavern and sit outside near Piedmont Park. There is always something go on. The very least is a guy and bus guitar walking around playing. This past Friday we had a reservation tha I made a few weeks ago knowing we would be there that night. When we arrived we were a bit surprised to have to park a healthy walk away because of the Atlanta Jazz Festival. When we got there they said it was open seating and they had not been taking reservations because of the jazz festival that was going on. Please check I said - well here it is your the only only one that got through.
We had our usual great dinner the kids were pleased and the music was great.
