Absolutely Atrocious. You’d think a restaurant with the foresight to close in the middle of the day to prepare for dinner would wait until they are closed to patrons for tearing down AUTUMN and installing WINTER. Not only was it evident that the people/ recent college grads running the restaurant were entirely novice in a restaurant settling (breaking glasses, loud chatter), people were on ladders and ripping upholstery from the chairs beside me and my friend while we were eating. Upon re-examining the gaudy decor which always seemed so inviting walking by the restaurant from outside seemed exhausted and not very creative - gimmicky. The waiter was not a professional waiter. He seemed to not understand the flow of customer interaction and provided slow service. And the food! The highest disappointment, and sole reason I muster energy to compile this review. Cinnamon roll placed on the table as a starter prior to taking our order is a stupid thing to do. That’s obviously dessert. Then, between extremely long wait times, I had the salmon and beet salad, which only tasted flatly of vinegar and questionable sashimi - no nuance to the dish. Finally, main course - branzino with everything bagel crust. I’m a fan of sodium so I didn’t despise it, but the crust was extremely heavy and didn’t make for a balanced dish. All in all, I feel like I saw a restaurant at its very worst today. I’m sure it has seen some better days.
Park Avenue, no matter what the season, has never disappointed
Overall very good and I would highly recommend. Brunch had a number of tasty items but there was nary a vegetable to be had on the brunch menu. They could do with a green item or two to round out the options.
Our reservation was for 7:15 pm. We arrived at about 7:10 pm and were told that the restaurant was running 10 minutes late. However, we were seated at 8 pm. Food took a long time and was cold.
Thanksgiving, so the kitchen was clearly overwhelmed, but we waited 25 minutes between each of the three courses. That was ridiculous. And the food was served warm.
Totally enjoyed Thanksgiving at Park Avenue Autumn! Great menu choices and wonderful service. Wine selections were excellent. The venue was busy, but not overwhelming. Be sure to make a reservation or the wait can be long. With a reservation, we were seated immediately.
Our family went for Thanksgiving and the atmosphere was festive. The bar area was fun while we waited. The food was average at best, but it could've been the quantity of servings for the holiday meal..
food delicious and unusual. presentation mouthwatering. staff outstanding! marvelous experience!! will definitely include this restaurant as one of our regulars.
Do not go on a holiday. Food quality was a zero. Felt like eating at a olive garden for 5x the cost. Clearly they have some issues on high volume customer days.
Beautiful venue. A few hiccups with meal service but rectfied nicely. Bellini set up was cleaver and nice.
Tara, our server, was absolutely incredible and down to earth. Service makes the difference in this kind of meal and she did just that. Great vegan options as well.
Wonderful, as usual!
This was my first visit to this restaurant. A colleague of mine who I refer to as my "foodie twin" recommended the restaurant a couple of months ago and it came to mind when I was looking for a location for a celebratory meal with a friend. The space is beautiful and very elegant, however what stood out most was the food. Everything we ate from our appetizers, to the entrees, to dessert (which we almost never order but did so after seeing some amazing desserts delivered to the tables surrounding us)...everything tasted wonderful and the dishes were all well put together. Standouts included the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the S'mores Sundae. We also had a pomegranate sorbet delivered as a celebratory dessert which was a wonderful palette cleanser and very flavorful. The service was attentive and appropriate, and our server had a great personality. My friend and I were both quite impressed and intend to return seasonally to try the various seasonal menus. There is also a wine dinner for reservations after 8:30pm which I may return to try as well as this was also recommended.
This was our first visit and were not disappointed. Fun menu with matching restaurant decor. Wine list was nice, with a particular good variety. Next time I'm in NYC, I plan to go again. Thanks!
Beyond delightful experience. Highly recommend.
We had the prix fix with wine menu. Great price for choose any entree, appetizer and assorted dessert choices. Included wine was very good. Meal was delicious and ambiance terrific. Looking forward to see what winter design looks like. Will be back.
Vibe, drinks, food, service, were second to none. Park Avenue Autumn ranks at the top of our list.
Wonderful service from Andrea, our server; above and beyond with great recommendations and friendliness. The quality and preparation of the food is superb, and the value for the post 8:30pm deal is amazing! Among the best dining choices in the city.
The food was exceptional, the service was great. Over-all very enjoyable
Restaurant decor and ambiance looked amazing, but server was hard to get his attention. There was a loud drunk table of 3 business men behind us that were making everyone’s head turn around that was ruining most peoples dinner. We tried to let our server know (because it was also his table as well), but he shrugged and gave a “I know. Oh well” expression. My dinner party and I were very frustrated for trying this as our first time visit to have it ruined by this table and the lack of service that our server was giving to us or helping to control His other loud table. This was my first and probably last time eating there. For the higher price point you pay to eat there I was disappointed. We found ourselves eating a little faster and no dessert so we could get away from the loud table. I would rate this whole experience as potentially a nice place to eat, but probably not rush to get in line there.
First rate concept, the whole restaurant from food to decor changes with the seasons....we ate in Autumn which I believe changes to winter on 3rd December or thereabouts. We dined on a Sunday and took advantage of the wine dinner which gives you three courses plus wine tastings for $69 per head, this is also available on other evenings but after 8:30pm only. Food was all excellent, sophisticated ingredients and presentation...wine choice was good with 4-5 to choose from, they were offered to match your food but you could select what you preferred and top up as many times as you like. Decor was atmospheric and the service and staff were excellent, very good value for NYC which felt generally quite expensive this trip!
This was not our first time at park ave autumn, but it was our favorite. From start to finish we had such an amazing evening. Our waiter, Marco, overheard it was my moms birthday and he made sure to make the evening extra special. My dad started with the butternut squash soup and my mom and I had decided to skip an app but Marco brought us over our own soups as well. I had the salmon for dinner which was cooked to perfection. The special of the evening was the Dover sole which was also great. Marco ended the night by giving us a complimentary s’mores dessert which again, AMAZING. Let’s not forget for the autumn time period they start us off with the most amazing, warm, pumpkin spiced bread which we could have had as our entrees. Please make it over to this restaurant before the season changes, oh and ask for Marco :)
Have been visiting the restaurant for past two years. The quality is getting worse and service too. The menu barely changes from season to season. They expanded the restaurant space to fit more customers and now it looks like a cheap deli.
Had dinner at this restaurant multiple times and had great time. However, yesterday was a complete disaster in terms of service.Waited over 40 min for bread and appetizers. What are it worse is that we came specifically for wine dinner and had to look and call for our waitress every time we needed a glass of wine. Glasses were never changed, white wine was poured into the same glass where red wine was . The only thing the waitress said was that she has other tables to attend. Had to speak to the manager at the the end but nothing was done to remedy the situation. Normally, the restaurants of this caliber offer some kind of a credit to make up for the mess. It's shame.. Food as good as usual but with this kind of services, there are plenty of other places in NYC
Service was extremely slow and food was ok but expected much better for the price. The dining area was crowded and we felt we were jammed in with other diners.
The waiter service is slow
We did the wine dinner. Good value, if you want a lot to drink, but the wines were meh at best and not matched to the food in any way. Service was spotty -- depended on the person. Some really good, some so-so. Ability to handle gluten free diners was cursory and unimpressive. Some lousy "white bread," served without oil or butter, and virtually no knowledge on the part of the server as to what gluten even is. Gluten used in making risotto, ice cream, even sorbet.
I’m a businessman from CA and this is the fifth time I’ve been to the restaurant over the past 12 months. I would simply say that the food last week was just OK. I had the scallops and we had the pumpkin ravioli appetizer. Both were served a bit cold and not up to the standards I expect. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great.
Very tiny plates, though the food is great I question if it’s worth the price.
I’ve dined at Park Ave many times. The staff seem tired and nasty. The hostess and bartender in particular were unfriendly and seemed annoyed. The staff needs to be trained to be more accommodating.
Nothing special. It’s OK to go out, though pricy, but not for special occasion.
Such a nice atmosphere! Food is great and service top notch. All offerings in keeping with the season and the wine pairings are great too!
Amazing menu from appetizer to dessert. Good wine choices.
We dined there for an early anniversary dinner. We were visiting from Atlanta, GA. Our server was amazing!! He explained everything on the menu. There were a few “surprises” along the way. They took care of us, and we had a great meal.
Park Avenue fall is a lovely setting for a good experience. The food is good enough but I think it’s the ambiance that is the main reason I go there. Service is also good.
Food was delicious and our waiter Vlad was terrific. No complaints!
Always enjoy Park Ave - the wine dinner is awesome. Dining room can get a little loud but its great.
Park Avenue "Autumn" was a treat on so many levels. The ambiance was relaxed and comfortable while still being festive with sparkly details. The seasonal "Autumn" menu offered a phenomenal pork schnizel, tender succulent and flavorful. I enjoyed the grilled cod special over a mushroom risotto. The Vegan menu allowed our guests to enjoy the delicious savory roasted acorn squash with wild mushrooms and a dairy-free rotelle pasta with grilled veggies. My endive salad was a bid wilted. The service was sensational, attentive and pro-active. I will eagerly return for the spring or summer offerings. Great find at a good value.
The restaurant was beautiful but the food was a bit too salty for my taste.
Autumn may be the best season at Park Avenue. The dishes were brilliantly done, with flavors that perfectly complemented each other and made you want to savor every bite. The service was on the slow side and the restaurant has gotten louder than it used to be (more hip now, less hospitable for an older, more staid crowd), but the food was really enjoyable. Not cheap though for sure.
