Parizade Ratings and Reviews
Algie was our waiter and handled our complicated request to divide bills up so that we took care of our two birthday girls and a bottle of wine. He did it cheerfully and with apparent ease. Food was delicious and served timely as always. We will request him at our next gathering of 7 girlfriends at table 15! Thank you
About my 25th-30th visit. Food and ambiance always excellent. Had to wait 20 minutes for a 7 pm reservation though. Never waited before. And, waitstaff was way overtaxed. I paid my fair share of 18% on a $140 bill for two people. I would have paid 25% if the service was better. Well, I would still go again for the food, but the service needs to be better, please! Please don't blow it the way Vin Rouge has....I don't go there anymore.
This was our first time at Parizade. The food was wonderful, the service good and the atmosphere a treat. It was nice to be in a Durham restaurant that was not brick walls with a big chalk board and overly noisy. Parizade has it's unique look and feel, but best of all it has delicious food.
At first glance, the menu doesn’t seem very Mediterranean outside of the appetizers. Don’t be fooled. They’ve taken everyday eats and elevated them with Mediterranean flavors and flare. The pork chop is served with a shaved Brussels sprout salad with dried fruit and pistachios flavored with cinnamon. It paired perfectly with the chop. I ordered one of the specials: lamb shank. It was fall-off-the-bone perfection. Perfectly seasoned with hints of cinnamon and maybe clove and served with gratinées potatoes. Service was excellent and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Definitely will be back!
I went to Parizade to check it out for a potential rehearsal dinner. The food was fantastic, the service was perfect (not over bearing, but definitely there when you needed them). Atmosphere is beautiful. Chose it for the rehearsal dinner AND went back a second night to "taste test" other entrees and desserts! HIGHLY recommend.
We arrived at 6 pm and were promptly seated. We asked for the 3-course fixed price pre-theater dinner and the server inquired when we needed to be out in time for our concert. The dinner was excellent in every respect. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast which was delicious, and my choice of the chocolate dessert was heavenly. The French onion soup was perfect for the raw weather. My companions' dinners were equally tasty. The only criticism is that the music was a bit too loud where we were seated. We were served and were able to depart by the time we requested without feeling at all rushed. Our server was lovely and very attentive. We have always had an excellent dining experience at Parizade.
Had not been to the restaurant in years, in fact, the last time was at their previous location. Came with no particular expectations, other than from positive word-of-mouth that this was a good restaurant while we were in Durham; we were treated to a simply fantastic meal from start to finish, with exceptional service. Looking forward to our next excuse to come over and continue trying out the rest of the menu!
The food was nicely seasoned but came out cold to lukewarm. No one stopped by until over half way through the two courses. Wine was delivered prior to finishing my 1st drink so the wine sat there warming up. Kind of bass ackwards—the food is cold and the wine is getting warm.
In the past, I have been very happy with our dinners and food selections. Usually my friends and I dine before going to the DPAC. Maybe my disappointment was that I was unaware that Parizade had reduced their food selections . They said it was parents weekend at Duke and they had to minimize the menu. If we go back, I will make sure to check on any changes.
The restaurant has been redecorated since our last visit. Some tables have white tablecloths, other tables are faux wooden sans tablecloths. We like tablecloths. Luckily the marvelous ceiling is untouched! The menu is changed, as well. Evidently "mezze" (read tapas) have arrived in Durham, because the other restaurants where we dined have the same category added to their menus and even to their restaurant names. We are not from Durham. Restaurants in our area which served tapas have gone out of business. The food and drinks remain outstanding. We have frequented this one of a kind restaurant for 17 years because we enjoy what it has been and hope will continue to be with a minimum of "innovation." It is always a singular and pleasurable experience to which we look forward with much anticipation.
My friend and I wanted a light vegetarian meal, and we were delighted with the roasted cauliflower, beet salad and green chickpea hummus. Our server was attentive and provided superb service even after it was clear we weren't having a full meal. I will definitely return.
Service on Saturday night was terrible. The restaurant was not crowded. Our waiter was nonplussed when he took our order and never returned until dessert. We sat with 6 empty cocktail and water glasses in front of us. We had to ask for more water from another waiter. We left without ordering more drinks or dessert because we were so displeased with the service.
Last month our server was very attentive.
The food is consistently delicious.
This was my first trip to Parizade. I had Mediterranean food before but never this fresh and tasty. My boyfriend took me for my birthday and we sat out in the court yard, which is beautiful with a water fall, trees and tables. The waiter couldn't have been any better - he was there with our food, drinks and clearing the table right when we needed him. There was a 50th year class reunion in the courtyard at the same time and it was fun to meet a lot of the people who had graduated 50 years ago. Overall a wonderful, memorable night.
