Parizade Ratings and Reviews
Our friends, new to the Durham area, had not eaten at Parizade before. They loved it as much as us. I think the waiter made it very special because he was so attentive and informative about our food selections. We enjoyed the mini concert by the guitarist, but we all felt it was a little loud for conversation. Always love the Christmas tree and it is fantastic for pictures. A wonderful night with friends.
Quality and quantity of food is sub-par and food is extremely over-priced. I had invited a friend who was moving out of town and had not been to Parizade before. It had been several years since I was last there and I found that it has significantly declined. We were very disappointed. We overheard the chef talking with some other customers and he was bragging how he would put a 16 oz rib-eye on the menu, when it was really only 14 oz, and include some potato fingerlings and charge $44 for it and make a killing. With that attitude, I'll take my business elsewhere and get good quality and quantity for my money.
We had eaten at Parizade twice before. Outstanding in every way. But on our last visit the service was good, but the chef may had an off nite. My husband ordered the filet special and he had to send it back 3 times before getting it medium rare as ordered. The manager was reluctant to speak with us. Although he finally came over at the end of our meal to apologize and graciously comped our meal. We will return as the food is generally delicious. And the desserts are especially to die for!
Meal prices were high for what you received-had to fill up on bread!! Waitress had an attitude and didn't service the table well. Sweet tea was ordered by a few, but she didn't bother to tell them they would have to add sweetener. We had to hail other wait staff, for drink refills. The bill ended in $.35, the change received had been rounded up to the next dollar-I don't appreciate that, guess I should have paid with a credit card then the short change would have been the restaurant's!! Not likely to return.
Seafood appetizer was wonderful and good value. Pasta was awful--ravioli served in a soup broth rather than a sauce; took it out of bowl and ate it by itself; had specifically asked for Parmesan but it was not provided when pasta arrived; requested again and by the time it came, food was lukewarm and half finished. Requested feta to replace gorgonzola on salad, and it never came. When plates were being cleared, waitress noted she had forgotten it and apologized. Cost of 2 appetizers, vegetable side, and shared pasta was $58. Other than the seafood, very poor value. Reinforced our decision to rarely if ever eat out.
Parizade is a one of a kind dining experience. The menu is unique and innovative. Food is awesome. the atmosphere is vibrant. they had live music the night we were there, a 20 horn band actually. It was quite the scene. Not sure if that is every weekend night but was a nice bonus. Service is excellent. Our server was helpful in recommendations as well as wines. It is expensive but worth it, great for special occasions.
Algie was our waiter and handled our complicated request to divide bills up so that we took care of our two birthday girls and a bottle of wine. He did it cheerfully and with apparent ease. Food was delicious and served timely as always. We will request him at our next gathering of 7 girlfriends at table 15! Thank you
About my 25th-30th visit. Food and ambiance always excellent. Had to wait 20 minutes for a 7 pm reservation though. Never waited before. And, waitstaff was way overtaxed. I paid my fair share of 18% on a $140 bill for two people. I would have paid 25% if the service was better. Well, I would still go again for the food, but the service needs to be better, please! Please don't blow it the way Vin Rouge has....I don't go there anymore.
This was our first time at Parizade. The food was wonderful, the service good and the atmosphere a treat. It was nice to be in a Durham restaurant that was not brick walls with a big chalk board and overly noisy. Parizade has it's unique look and feel, but best of all it has delicious food.
At first glance, the menu doesn’t seem very Mediterranean outside of the appetizers. Don’t be fooled. They’ve taken everyday eats and elevated them with Mediterranean flavors and flare. The pork chop is served with a shaved Brussels sprout salad with dried fruit and pistachios flavored with cinnamon. It paired perfectly with the chop. I ordered one of the specials: lamb shank. It was fall-off-the-bone perfection. Perfectly seasoned with hints of cinnamon and maybe clove and served with gratinées potatoes. Service was excellent and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Definitely will be back!
I went to Parizade to check it out for a potential rehearsal dinner. The food was fantastic, the service was perfect (not over bearing, but definitely there when you needed them). Atmosphere is beautiful. Chose it for the rehearsal dinner AND went back a second night to "taste test" other entrees and desserts! HIGHLY recommend.
We arrived at 6 pm and were promptly seated. We asked for the 3-course fixed price pre-theater dinner and the server inquired when we needed to be out in time for our concert. The dinner was excellent in every respect. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast which was delicious, and my choice of the chocolate dessert was heavenly. The French onion soup was perfect for the raw weather. My companions' dinners were equally tasty. The only criticism is that the music was a bit too loud where we were seated. We were served and were able to depart by the time we requested without feeling at all rushed. Our server was lovely and very attentive. We have always had an excellent dining experience at Parizade.
Had not been to the restaurant in years, in fact, the last time was at their previous location. Came with no particular expectations, other than from positive word-of-mouth that this was a good restaurant while we were in Durham; we were treated to a simply fantastic meal from start to finish, with exceptional service. Looking forward to our next excuse to come over and continue trying out the rest of the menu!
The food was nicely seasoned but came out cold to lukewarm. No one stopped by until over half way through the two courses. Wine was delivered prior to finishing my 1st drink so the wine sat there warming up. Kind of bass ackwards—the food is cold and the wine is getting warm.
